    - Event ID 2 can't send email I have the following error and have fixed it once by reinstalling the exchange mail router, but this can't be right. Reboots dont help either. Any help appreciated.     - Installing Outlook CRM I am running CRM 1.2 on SBS 2003. The Outlook client will not install on my workstations. The workstations are running WinXP Pro with Outlook 2003. I tried installing as local admin and domain admin. I get the following message in both cases: "MS CRM Sales for Outlook Setup cannot continue because Microsoft Outlook has not been initialized. To continue, cancel Setup, open and then close Outlook, and then start Setup again." It does not matter how many times I open and close Outlook. I get the same message trying the install on any of my workstations. All help is appreciated.     - Close Window Warning In many instances while navigating MS CRM, I am running into the warning message that the "webpage I am viewing is trying to close the window..." I understand that this is an IE security setting and that it is beneficial in many ways, but it is truly infuriating when you are trying to work within CRM. I am unable to pin down the specific security setting that activates this functionality. Can someone point me in the right direction before I have a mutiny on my hands?     - Copying CRM to a duplicate domain We are trying to recreate our CRM environment in a duplicate domain for testing and trying to work out some of these timeout issues. Basically we are bringing up a DC, replicating AD, taking it down, removing it from the network (no cables what so ever) and bringing it back up and promoting it to master DC. We want to get all of the AD info, because we want to use all of the data we have for a true test environment. The plan was: DC on one box - CRM/SQL on another.. SQL is ready to go (will need to be updated again!) and We can do the CRM part with our hands behind our back. but syncing up the AD is quite another issue.. We have it on our CRM domain, then we try physically removing it from the domain and bringing it back up as a master - doesn't work. Needless to say, we are having issues with the DC bit..     - CRM Certification I am interested in pursuing MS CRM certification for all three 1.2 tests currently available. Does anyone have any recommendations for prep for these exams? I am the in- house database administrator but we brought in an outsource consultant for our CRM deployment prior to my coming on board. I have picked up a bunch of the technical specifics but there are gaping holes in my knowledge. I also purchased the 'Using Microsoft CRM' by Brown & Gravely as well. I did notice that MS is offering E- Courses in the requisite areas of certification for between $350 and $550 a piece.     - Replication on CRM database I want to set up SQL replication of the CRM data to another server so that we can link to the data without messing with CRM. Can anybody think of a reason why I should not do this? The only thing I can think of is that CRM SQL is already replicating. I think I would create another publication so that if I wanted to stop it, it would not mess with the default replication. Can you have two publications of the exact same thing? Or would it be better to just add another subscriber to the current replication? I'd love to hear if anybody had any good/bad experiences doing this, or just thoughts on it. Thanks.     - Change default duration of tasks (especially e-mails generated from workflows) Anyone have ideas for changing the default duration of tasks that are generated from workflows? (or all tasks for that matter) The reason I'm looking for this is that if a workflow fires an e-mail based on a template to the customer; and if it has a duration of 30 minutes; that skews the overall time reported to the user during case resolution. No one did 30 minutes of work while the workflow sent an automated e-mail. I know it is possible to exit the activity view throught the view editor e.g. http://crm/tools/viewEditor/viewManager.aspx?id={00000000-0000-0000-00AA-000010001902} for all activities though this only allows addition of a few fields. if I look in the SavedQueryBase, the view {00000000-0000-0000-00AA-000010001902} gives a FetchXml string with the activity fields. the display text for the regarding field is available in the Activity view as the ObjectName field Can one simply add the ObjectName field to this to provide the regarding field, or it is much more complex. This is a big omission for us, as having the account name (which we populate in the regarding field of an activity would be so useful.     - replication of multiple CRM databases Hello, I'm investrigating CRM packages and the environment I'm looking at is having two or three instllations (one in US, one in Canada and possibly one in France). The data needs to be shared to a degree (if possible) and one option I want to consider is MS SQL server replication. Ideally, so the two/three international installations can work with the same data, showing local regional settings (US$ Can$ and euro). Network infrastructure means having an installation in one central location with the other two accessing the central, shared database over the Internet would not be the most appropriate. (Though using the Internet for data replication would be OK). I understand that CRM uses replication to handle synchronization between the central db and MDSE based outlook clients for offline access.     - Create a "View" for Accounts that displays Primary Contact's email Hi, Today I created a new Account View for one of our business units. The view displays a listing of the particular type of Account that the business unit serves. When I asked the business unit if that View helped them, I got a reply saying that the column for Account Email was good but they preferred a column for the Primary Contact's Email. It seems that out-of-the-box, I can't use the web front end to include a column for the Primary Contact's Email. I can (& I have) include a column for the Primary Contact which displays the Contact's name. Of course, unlike the Primary Contact's Email, there is a field in the Account Schema for the Primary Contact so it makes sense that I can display a column for that.     - server API & multi-creation of objects Hello! I have the following scenario: I get data from a webservice. These data are (temporarily) stored in a XML file on the server. The data contain: 1 account, numerous customer addresses and numerous contacts. When I save the account a post-callout routine stores these data in MSCRM (we use MSCRM v1.2). It works fine, but: VERY SLOW. In my test case I have 26 customer addresses and 21 contacts. The whole post-callout routine needs 22 seconds. (When it is called the first time, it needs 33 seconds.) Through some tests I found out that 6 to 7 seconds of the time is consumed by the XSLT transformation I do. So there still remain 15 seconds which are consumed by doing 26 calls to CRMCustomerAddress.Create() and 21 calls to CRMContact.Create(). I think - and our customers think - that this speed is embarrassing. As a developer I have an idea, where this slowness comes from: The SDK methods work as webservice methods. That is useful and necessary, when you want to handle objects from remote. In my scenario the data is already on the server (as a XML file) and it should be loaded into the (MSCRM) database on the same server. In this scenario doing the object handling via webservice methods is absolutely overhead. If the creation of the objects would be done on the server only, it would much more faster (the creation of some data rows is usually done in a blink of an eye). So the following extensions of the SDK would be EXTREMELY REASONABLE: (hello Microsoft, can you hear me?) - methods that do the object handling directly and not via webservice (let's call that: a server API) - a method like CreateMultiple() for creating multiple objects of one type. Any ideas of how to speed up the post-callout routine would be appreciated.     - Deletion service cannot clean up tables I get the deletion service logging in the Application log every 10 minutes the following error: Event ID: 5895 Source MSCRMDeletionService Error: Can't clean up the following tables: Account; Activity. This is obviously the same directory that stores other the exchange components for OWA, OMA, Ect. Should I go ahead and install into that directory or create an additional website and install it there?

I installed into the default web site with no problem. Our normal mail server and web site access continued to work as before4

Go ahead and use the default web site. It won't affect OWA.
