    - Restore Crm3 data Hello, I have small company with 7 employees. Before 2 weeks I have SBS 2003 premium system with Microsoft Dynamic CRM 3 small business edition. My server has stolen and I have SQL backups only. Now I have 2 virtual machines, first with SBS 2003 standard edition and second ready for Microsoft dynamic CRM 4 installation with Microsoft 2003 server R2 and SQL 2005 SP2.     - Unable to add item to picklist I am trying to add an item to a pick list for paymenttermscode on the quotation entity (I want to add a 7 Days term) however, whilst I can add the value successfully, if I set a quote to use that value for the terms, I get an error the very next time I attempt to open the quote.     - strange slow performance Hi all, We have a new crm 3.0 deployment. Everything is fine, except the case (incident) form. It is vey slow while opening, and also when clicked to save&close button.     - Activity Count in Wait Condition in Workflow for 4.0 Hello, I have a requirement to assign a case to a manager whenever all the dependent activities are closed. I tried creating a workflow with a wait condition on "Workflow-Activity Count Including Workflow == 0" with the following assumptions: - the value "Activity Count Including Workflow" will contain the number of *open* activities, and it will decrease whenever activities are closed. - The wait condition will exit when this number reaches zero. I have had no success with any of these assumptions. The workflow gets stuck in the wait condition, and it never exits, even if I *delete* the activities rather than closing them. Has anyone had success with this "Activity Count Including Workflow" counter at all? And if not, how can I implement my requirement?     - add lookup to the appointment form Want to confirm what I have been told is true - our consultant hasn't proven to be top-notch. I want to add a field to the appointment form that is a lookup to a custom 'mtglocs' entity. Reading is telling me that I cannot add a lookup to a system entity - only a custom entity. I do not see the buttons to create relationships in the relationships section in the appointment entity, and 'appointment' is not a choice when i try creating the relationship in the custom 'mtglocs' entity.     - Problem with including CRM attributes in E-mail template hyperlinks When an email template is created, there is no way of linking the attribute value and having that entire URL exist: 1) If you type out the beginning URL (ie: http://domain/org/leadid=) and insert the attribute value {!Lead:Lead ID;}, the beginning URL is highlighted, but not the attribute value. 2) If you type out the beginning URL with an extra 'x' (http://domain/ org/leadid=x), insert {!Lead:Lead ID;} between / and x, and use the delete key to remove x: the whole URL is highlighted, but when the email is sent, the incorrect hyperlink is being used. (Displays as http://domain/org/leadid=419 but goes to http://domain/org/leadid=x) 3) If you type out the beginning URL with an extra 'x' (http://domain/ org/leadid=x), insert {!Lead:Lead ID;} between / and x, and use the backspace key to remove x: none of the URL is highlighted. 4) If you use an <a href="http://domain/org/leadid={!Lead:Lead ID;}">Lead ID</a>, none of the HTML is really used.     - Cannot promote emails with certain images What are the restrictions of CRM version 4 in regards to promoting emails that may contain embedded images such as company logos. I had a user try to complete a set regarding on an email to an opportunity. She recieved an error "Error attempting to promte item to CRM." No attachments, but there was an image that Outlook refused to download, so in the images place it said something like 300 dpi and the usual red X when an image will not download. I opened the email message, right clicked, choose "edit message", deleted the image placeholder, saved, and then the message promoted without any issues.     - CRM 4.0: Regarding Fields In Views I've added the Company field in my Phone Call view from the Regarding (Lead) but the column is empty when displaying the view. I've also added City and State from the Regarding (Lead) and they are empty as well. The original lead contains data for all three of these fields.     - Problems since upgrade to 4.0 I fear problems are afoot. CRM 4.0 has seemed to be working fine since upgrade but i've noticed a few problems creeping in since i've returned to developing/customizing it. Has anyone else experienced these?... Custom reports written in Visual Studio 2003 don't seem to be able to take advantage of the <"Fieldname"Name> functionality - i.e. When using filtered views to pull up a picklist field which has a datavalue (i.e. 1) and a datavaluename (i.e. "Yes"), the datavaluename just comes through as blank, whereas all other field values (i.e. from text fields) from the same table are coming thru fine (this problem occurs both in the Visual Studio preview and when viewing the report proper in CRM). No error messages, just blanks. When viewing the data in the filtered view directly in the SQL database (in SQL Server Management Studio) the values (i.e. "Yes") in the datavaluename fields are there! They're just not coming thru in the report queries! Incidentally I don't know whether this is down to the 4.0 upgrade or not because I have never used this functionality before. Secondly (and this may or may not be related, but it IS associated with the move to 4.0), I can no longer create new custom entities! When opening the new entity window, filling in the name and plural name etc., hit the button, it thinks for a second and comes back with an "Invalid Argument" popup. I blame myself slightly for this, as I inadvisedly decided one day to remove all of the security roles that were not in use... That's something I wish I hadn't done! We would basically want to enter multiple addresses for the custom entity. I have noticed that this not possible simply by creating a new relationship.     - Error adding and deleting entities and attributes I had upgraded my CRM 3 to version 4. After the upgrade we are unable to add or delete entities and attributes. I have turned on developer errors, but everytime we only receive a generic "an error has occured" message. So I then wiped the box clean from the OS up and then installed a clean version of CRM 4. I then imported the custom entities that were developed on CRM 3 and upgraded to CRM 4 previously. Everything was working fine until recently, but now we are having the same problem again.     - CRMWorkFlowService.exe (CRM 3.0) Hi all, I've noticed that CRMWorkFlowService.exe never closes it's DB connections, so after a few weeks, I can have up to 1909 db connections to the SQL server (easily seen both on the DB server and with TCPView from Syinternals). If I restart IIS and all the CRM services (including CRMWorkFlowService.exe), then the CRMWorkFlowService.Exe no longer connects to the DB, which results in forms such as ACCOUNT to take several minutes to load... A reboot of both the IIS and the SQL server seems to be the only solution, but that is not really a good solution (and from my IT manager's point of view, unacceptable). The Exchange Router was installed, and the rules were deployed. I use the Web Client, and created a new customer (the DB is empty), and assigned an email address. But when I send a mail to that customer, the customer doesn't receipt the mail, but the customer's history shows as completed those mails.     - Email retention policy relative to CRM e-mails tracked from Outloo Toss up question for the blue team. When one hits "Track in CRM" on an e-mail from outlook we all know that it CREATES an e-mail in the CRM system. The date that the e-mail is created in CRM is placed in the field CreatonDate. When we look at the related record it shows up in order based on the Created Date. The rub is this. What do we do when we have a user who is just coming on board with CRM and they have e-mail history they want to link that goes back years. There does not seem to be any linking relative to the received date. Which is actually much more relevant than create on date, especially if we are trying to recreate a communication trail that goes back several years. According to the CRM data it would seem as if all the e-mail came over today, and not when we actually received them. I have done several migrations from GoldMine to CRM and I have used the Actualend in the ActivityPointer. But Outlook does not map there. So has anyone ever tackeled this issue or have any suggestions. Some of our clients have data retention policies where they can not keep electronic for longer than 3 years.     - CRM 4 Outlook Client Fails to Connect I'm trying to connect some of my laptop users using the Outlook client for CRM, but I have been unsuccessful. These users are not on Active Directory and only use local accounts. The problem is that when I try to setup the client, I get a message that says: "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized." It never prompts me for a username and password, so this doesn't entirely surprise me.     - Accessing GP Data from CRM Remotely Hello, My company is using GP10 and CRM 4.0, and we had created a number of SQL reports for sales people, that access the GP10 database. A previous Dynamics vendor integrated these into CRM for us via the following: Buttons were created in the isv.config file under the Accounts pane, so that if you open an account, click one of the custom report buttons, it runs an asp script that queries to find the GPID for that account and passes that as a parameter to a link to the SRS server, to pull up the relevant GP report. This works great in house, even though I'd love to find a superior method to accomplish this that would be more supported by MS, as I've heard this is an "unsupported customization". Obviously, if a sales person out of the country or out of the office connects up to the web interface of CRM, which is set up using port forwarding and actually works pretty well in CRM 4.0, if they click on those buttons it will link to internal addresses to the reports on the in house report server. Needless to say, they can't access the reports or data this way. Our controller went to Convergence and is convinced that Sharepoint is the answer to this and any number of other issues; we have a basic WSS 2.0 install that came on our Small Business Server 2003 box. Particularly on this point...I'm quite confused on how exactly Sharepoint can do this. As I said we're on WSS 2.0 and Office 2003, and can't immediately upgrade. Can someone clarify, if they understand, what exactly Sharepoint could do to integrate data from GP into CRM, particularly with CRM accessed via the remote web interface? Our fix for this currently is Terminal Server, which has worked fine for some time, but our office in Germany is struggling with frequent dropped connections. I need a workflow rule that will automatically trigger 'Yes" from a new attribute I created (boolean / yes or No) depending on whether a user chooses a specific word from that dropdown list - 'ABC'. I have created the boolean attribute and added a column in the main Active Accounts view. I put js behind the OnSave for the form properties that indicates if they choose 'ABC' show Yes. I created a manual workflow rule that depending on if the specific field is chosen, should make my new attribute field read "Yes". Once I run the apply rule in the Accounts view, it initially worked in the view, but once the user goes back in and chooses another item in the list, the system still reads "yes". NOTE: I believe one of the problems is that the field's dropdown list is dependent upon another key field's choice from the user...e.g., Field1 - if user chooses "Group", then Field2 shows up with the drop down list. In other words, I believe that when the user initially chooses 'ABC' from Field2 (after having chosen Group in Field1), the system sees 'ABC' for that field; when the user goes back into the account and chooses Field3, then an item from Field4, the system still sees Field2 having 'ABC' associated with it.
