Hi there...

I am pretty new to CRM 3.0, I had an issue where the original test install
was using an MSDN license key(10CAL's) and I needed to add more users but it
wouldn't let me. Through the deployment wizard it would allow me to add
another user through AD and then fail, because there wasn't enough CAL's, the
only problem is I now have valid user names in the Deployment MMC with NO
security roles assigned! How do I reclaim these users? I don't want to have
create dummy AD user accounts and reassign to the place holders with no
security roles as I have since reinstalled CRM with a proper license and
pointed it back to the same database.

Can I disable the accounts, and if so how do I? I don't see anyway to do
this through the MMC UI?

Thanks.....

Using a CRM user account with Sys admin role, load CRM web client,
Click "Settings", "Business Unit Settings", "Users",
Highlight the users which you would like to disable, Click "More Actions",
"Disable"

Disabling the users will reclaim the license.

Alternatively, you can set users to "Restricted Access mode", to reclaim the
license. On the "User Information" page, check the "Restricted Access Mode"
checkbox.

From within the CRM web client:

Click Settings, Business Unit Settings, Users.

Highlight the use, click the More Actions button, then select Disable.

Good Luck.

Thanks for your advice guys but these accounts don't show in the HTML User
Manager at all! For some reason the Deployment Wizard doesn't check the
number of CAL's available....for instance if you have 5 CAL's left and choose
to import 6 users it will attempt to assign CAL's to each, obviously it fails
on the 6th user however it still adds the valid AD user in the database BUT
doesn't assign any Security Roles.....the Sec Roles field is blank.

You now have a valid AD user that has no security roles with no CAL assigned
shown in the Deployment User MMC UI. The HTML User Manager will not show this
user and therefore you cannot assign Sec Roles or Disable the Account!

You see my issue! I have since gotten around it by assigning dummy accounts
but its messy and you would need potentially allot of dummie accounts in AD
if you missed the user import count by tens or even 100's of CAL's.

They are there, you need to change the View to show the disabled users.
They are actually there, but disabled. In fact, Deployment manger tells you
that the users were created with a disabled status due to the licening
issue. So, show the Disabled users and then enable them and tou can then
add roles to them.
