dead hard drive or is it video?

I turned of my computeras usual, but when I went to turn it on again,
only the fans came on. I can feel activity in the hard drive and it seems to
click
on and then off...no signal imput to my screen.
Can I use it on my friends computer as a secondary hd to try to retrieve
my data?

I think your hard drive is dead, try to buy a new one and it'll help you.
