    - Attendee Appointment to outlook Hi there I have a litle issue regarding appointments. When a CRM user creates appointment in the SFO client a appointment instance is created both in CRM and Outlook for the user who creates the appointment. My problem is that attendees only seem to get there appointment in CRM not in outlook. E.g. you can't book meetings through CRM!!!     - Custom field (string) "Coming soon..." display After import of config xml through schema manager (with errors), some (not all) custom string fields display on the form but display "Coming soon...". The field label is correct but data cannot be entered nor can these fields be accessed from System Customization module. Has anyone seen this before? How can this problem be resolved?     - CRM process flow.. I understand that the process flow in CRM is Lead to Opportunity then to quotes, orders, invoices.etc.. However i want to override this Process flow and make my process as opportunity to creating contracts once an opportunity is won. My clients are mainly dealing with rental space and therefore there is no concept of order and please note that currently the system is used to create contracts as soon as an opportunity is won. Is there a way to add the functionality of converting the opportunity to contract, Like how a lead is converted to an account ,contact , opportunity.?the same is concept is required.     - crm does not get data in regular time periods Hi Everyone, CRM does not get any data from our sql server machine around every 10 to 20 minutes. Sql Server times out trying to send the data. This has been happening ever since we changed a users business unit and changed the users properties ie (roles) through the active directory. When I go to the event viewer This error message coinsides with the time crm is not getting data. Error: Some security descriptors could not be adjusted after a privilege change. -2147217871 (0x80040E31) SOurce:MSCRMSecurityService EventId: 6148 The numbers above are the code for sql server timing out. This link http://www.kbalertz.com/kb_837528.aspx has helped me. My theory is that our crm machine is blocking the data from sql server like the article talks about. This problem only came around since we messed with the users settings directly with the ad. So increasing the number of ports seems to not be the answer cause it was working fine last week. why do we need to increase the ports when it was fine last week.     - Connection port for CRM? If I want an external computer to connect to the CRM through a different port than 80, how do I make that work? I went into IIS and reset the port from 80 to 7000 and then made a mapping on my router on port 7000 which mapped to the internal address of the CRM, but I can't seem to reach it from outside. I can still connect through Internet Explorer if I put in http://computer.com:7000, but I can't do it from outside.     - Workflow Rule for Allowing Email I want to update all of our current accounts with a manual workflow rule that will update the contact method on the administration tab in accounts to reflect "Allow" for Email. When trying to setup this rule, I set the "donotemail" field to false (0), but when I apply that rule, it doesn't change anything (I've also tried "donotbulkemail").     - Data Migration Question Hello, when migrating contacts -and leave values for the "Prefered Contact Methods" (like Phone->True/False, Email-->True/False, etc.) in cdf_contact blank- does CRM populate them in ContactBase with default-values set in customization? I checked this on table contactbase and the values were not set to default. They have the value 'null' -Is this correct?     - Customize Products HTML Custom Field? I'm looking for a way to add a formatted description to my products. I'm thinking of using an html doc per each Product. I will then be able to dynamically update my web site and create catalogs on the fly using Quark. I've noticed that the contol in the Email Activity might be useful. Another issue I've encountered is that I'm only able to add simple custom fields to a form (string, number, pick list etc.) through the Schema Manager.     - Error when opening outlook Hello. I have one user who periodically gets this error message when opening outlook. "this reccord is read only in Microsoft CRM. Changes will not be synchonized to the Microsoft CRM system". I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me what direction to look in to fix this.     - Unknown error when going offline in SFO Hi, I had failed going offline in my Outlook after this following scenario: - Click the 'Go Offline' button on CRM toolbar in Outlook. - The 'Offline Configuration' window show, then click the Ok button - The 'downloading status' progress window show. After the progress, My outlook still in online mode(It was still 'Go Offline' button in my CRM toolbar) - Click the 'Go Offline' button again, got the same 'Offline Configuration' window & after that the same 'downloading status' progress window. - After the progress, the 'Go offline' button change into 'Go Online' button - Try click one of the CRM folder (ex. quotes,leads,products,etc), get "Metadata Cache Error, no entity" message error I suspect the progess bar session was containing important message that I missed. (which is not in and of itself a revenue generator) from the Accounts (which are direct revenue generators.) It also allows us to scale upwards more easily as the â??Projectsâ?? can sometimes have 30-39 different accounts associated with them. I want to roll out a batch file to make a number of tweaks to CRM The body of it would go REGEDIT /S Kerberosefix.reg REGEDIT /S ForceFormreload.reg REGEDIT /S OutlookFix.reg It would also rename OSA.exe to OSA.bad Remove OSA.exe From the startup menu I need help finding a way to use my batch file to increase the Outlook Form cache from the default 4MB to 50 MB.. This makes CRm more stable and faster for communications. I dont want to manually do this, as it time consuming, are my end users would not be reliable in doing it themselves.     - Adjusting View Column Width Quick question, hopefully there is an easy answer. It often seems that when viewing opportunities, the column with for opportunity name is too small.     - The server localhost is not responding Need help repair crm install. I had a working CRM and problems began to occur after I tryied deleting a user from crm within web client. I deleted a the user in active directory then attemped in crm but it would not work. I know that was the wrong way to do it. No I am having problems logging in to crm with any user even the admin. When I go into deployment manager to check valid users I get local host is not reponding please contact administrator. If I try from web client the page comes up with error please contact admin. When I go to open up the workflow monitor or manager after a fresh install it says: "you do not have sufficient privileges to run the Microsoft CRM workflow monitor" How can I access these two features? I added the computer (which is also the SQL server) to the Windows Pre-compatability group, but I didn't see any other advice on what rights had to be assigned.     - Register crmisapi.dll failed Hi, I'm having a few problems with CRM email. I have installed the router on our Exchange 2000 server which is also running OWA on port 85. I have created a new website for CRM using port 80. I type in the address to the srf file on the exchange server in Internet explorer on the CRM server and get page not displayed. I have followed the steps defined in http://groups.google.com/groups?q=exchange+email+router&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=O3puCy2vDHA.2372%40TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl&rnum=1 but step 9 suggests I should reregister the CRMISAPI.DLL which fails with the message "DllRegisterServer in crmisapi.dll failed. Return code was:0x80004005". Currently when I try to send email from CRM I get "Unexpected Error" Try again/Go Back. Any ideas?     - CRM doesn't install correctly... I have been trying to install the Microsoft CRM 1.2 and after about 4 different times I'm almost ready to give up. Every time it installs, there is no way to access the workflow monitor or manager. It will give me the message "The server is not responding. This might happen if it is currently unavailable..." When I open the crystal enterprise there is a service in red - the WinHTTP proxy auto-discovery. I'm not sure if that is what is causing all of the problems, but that service has never started in every install. If I try to start it through the services snap-in it will say "The account specified for the service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process". However, they're all starting and running under the same account. How can I get all the services to start and access to the workflow monitor/manger? When you save a new case it goes from having just the "information" button on the left hand side to having the activites and notes buttons. I'd like to be able to customise those areas.     - How to restore data from old sql on a clean install of CRM I've locked myself out of my orginal install of CRM instead of trying to fix the problem I made a clean install of my server and CRM. Now when I restore the MSCRM, Metabase, and MSCRMDistribution I get locked out the server because users do not exsist. How do I restore the database from the old sql and get it to work on my clean install of CRM. My main goal is to get back contacts and accounts. I have a very IMPORTANT question ! What if my Manager has a laptop and uses
CRM but the CRM Server at our work office then does that mean he will not be
able to connect when out of the office ! and view the needed data ! Isnt
there some offline approach to all this or can we have some of the real .NET
features like a disconnected dataset with him pooling the data from there !
HELP PLS

If you require this kind of functionality, install the Microsoft CRM "Sales
for Outlook Client".
There is an overview and instructions for this in the 'Implementation
Guide' - IG.PDF

He won't be about to access any data while disconnected unless he's got the
"Sales for Outlook Client" installed. It'll then cache the necessary data
on his laptop.
