We have created a new report after opening and saving one of the
standard reports to a new name. We created this by logging into the aps
server from a workstation using crystal reports v9.2.2. We added
another table from the CRM database to the new report via an odbc
connection to the CRM database. This newly created report can be
previewed in crystal and draws data from the crm database with no
problems. When trying to open it from the crm web client we receive the
following error:

"Failed to load database information. File 9783d9f0929aa7.rpt."

All other report run without issue. Any help with this will be
appreciated.

First, just a tip: On your Crystal reports development machine, install the
"Crystal Enhancements for Microsoft CRM" (it's on one of the CRM installation
CDs.) That will let you connect to CRM without creating ODBC connections.

Next, verify your database in Crystal (from the Database menu, I believe),
and check to make sure that you are not saving data with the report (File >
clear the checkmark next to 'Save Data With Report').

Last, if none of the above works, stop and restart the Crystal services on
your CRM server.

Hi Brett~

Did you create a new table within the CRM database? If so, this could be
the cause of the problem. Adding tables to the CRM database is unsupported
and would cause the error that you are seeing. Please see the following KB
article for more information.

Symptoms Section
When you try to open a custom Crystal Report in Microsoft Business
Solutions Customer Relationship Management (Microsoft CRM), the following
error may be returned:
Failed to load database information. File ReportName .rpt.

Cause Section
The custom Crystal Report is trying to retrieve data from tables that are
not installed during the Microsoft CRM installation.

Resolution Section
This behavior is by design.

Data for Crystal Reports that are accessed in Microsoft CRM can only be
retrieved from tables that are created during the Microsoft CRM
installation. Microsoft CRM does not support access to any database tables
other than the tables created during the Microsoft CRM installation. If
users had access to non-Microsoft CRM tables, the security of the Microsoft
CRM platform would have to be bypassed and users would have unrestricted
access to data in the non-Microsoft CRM tables.

All the points you have listed are as recommended and we tried
restarting the services but still get this error. The new table is not
separate but is another of the quote tables form the crm.

else to try?

Brett the answer is simple. Do not retrieve data using odbc connections.
Simply use crystal through the APS connection
