We are going to replace the CRM 3.0 MSDN licence key(only 5 users, not
enough!) by purchase license key.
Thanks!

Hi

I found that it was not possible to 'upgrade' the MSDN license key so opened
a ticket with MS and was told that the only way was to uninstall, and then
re-install attaching to exisiting databases. This is perculiar the the MSDN
keys as the eval and purchased licenses can be added to via deployment
manager.

Sounded daunting doing this on our production system but it actually only
took 20 minutes and I had no problems.

Hi,

I don't think the new installation can use the exisiting databases, it
promot errer message during the installation:"Invalid License Key".

How you did that?

Cheers!

The procedure is to go to add/remove programs and uninstall Microsoft CRM -
Obviously make sure that you have any backups that you require - just in
case!

Once CRM has uninstalled, re-install it from your CD's putting the new
license key in when prompted (if you are getting the error here that the key
is invalid and you are SURE that you are typing it in right then contact
whoever you got them off). During the installation you will be prompted
whether you want to create new databases or attach to existing ones - choose
to attach to your existing ones.

Thanks Cozy,

I already try this, but DURING the installation, CRM prompted: "License Key
Error"(not before installation.)
What I thought is the new License Key can't match the old database!

Hi CEO

I think that it looks like there is a reference to the license in the Db. I
have seen mention of this before and I seem to remember that someone
suggested to delete that relevent record but I'm afraid that I don't know
what table it was in.

Incidentally, when I re-installed I didn't didn't need to delete anything
and now my license manager has both our production key and MSDN key showing
so I assume that is where it is looking.

Can anyone else help out CEO with where to delete the old license key?

Check the License (or is it SystemLicense?) table. I have found the
removing the MSDN record from this prior to the isntall works fine.

No offense, but if you are not knowledgeable about how to delete records
from a SQL table, then you should not be trying this.
