so since there is no way to remove fields in an easy way after they are added, and the fact that it took me 3 intsstalls (complete reinstalls of ms crm) to finally get ms crm working with the sampe data, i want to cover my A$$ while playing around with this. i have heard people say backup first, then you can restore. does this mean backup the dbs? it looks like there are 4 dbs created for the avendture works. do i just need to back these suckers up and restore them if all goes wrong again... ? looks like two of them are being replicated, will that be a probem in backing up? I assume this is becuase all the logic for the forms, ui rules, etc... is all stored in the db.?? anything else i need to bakcup first before i go screwing with the data? answer is appreciated, thank you !! Getting a -1 Status in Disqualify Lead - Don't think it is the language bug
I'm getting a -1 status when I try and disqualify a lead. When I click
on the picklist I get an IE Script Error:
'firstChild.firstChild.children[...].offsetTop' is null or not an
object
My guess is that the picklist values were deleted or customized or
something. Where can I edit the Disqualify - Status picklist values?

I believe i am having some dns issues.
CRM is working on my local host but it is not working on any other
computers on the LAN.
One of the problems I think is because the DNS is not configured
properly but any attempt to do so has been invain.
During installation when we choose "install and configure DNS on this
computer" it did not create the 4 folders (msdcs,sites,tcp,and
udp)that it should in the Forward look up zone.Instead it has 3 files
(1) same as parent folder, (2) same as parent folder, (3)Shrek (which
is my localhost).I tried using NETDIAG /FIX but it gives me the
following errors..

Could there be any other reason as to why i cannot access CRM from

Another question is that I have exchange server and crm server on the
same machine, now when i was configuring exchange-email router it
asked me for a website, i did not choose the default website which is
later changed to Micrsoft version 1.2 website, instead i made another
website in IIS but that is not working, should i choose the same
website as the CRM website for that to be configured properly? because
the new website does not start indicating that "make sure its server
bindings do not conflict with other sites running on the same
machine."

Callouts fire on load for some entities (Bug)
Hi,
For some Entities (SalesOrder, Quote and likely others) update
callouts fire when opening the record in the MS Crm Application.
Obviously that is not expected behavior. Only if changes were made to
the record in question and subsequently saved would one expect a
callout.
If anyone has found any documentation on this bug, or figured out a
workaround, please could you post it here?

Workflow Service won't start
All my other services are starting up fine and the system is
functioning normally (except for workflow).
In the event log I get the error:
"The Microsoft CRM Workflow Service service failed to start due to the
following error:

I have tried to start it manually and get the same error.

Renaming user account
We recently let one of our sales guys go. He has been replaced so I renamed
the account as alot of people normally do. However in CRM Im not able to
add him because the old user still exists. Which makes sense because the
SID is the same. However, the account still shows domain\olduser instead of
domain\newuser. Im thinking this is just a synching/timing issue and will
be handled in a few minutes. Im rebooting to verify, but Im hoping that you
are able to rename an account in AD and that account will show up in CRM
without having to always delete, disable account, create new account, and

Crystal Reports -Filter in Custom Reports
Hi,
i have the following issue:
I made some custom reports (from scratch, not modifying existing ones)
with Crystal Reports. The Reports lists all MSCRM Users with
corresponding opportunitys and you can drill down to opportunitys from
the choosen Accountmanager.
After deploying the report with ReportManager (-->Nice Tool! :-)
everything works fine.
Then, i want to Filter Data using Report-Filter in MSCRM. The only
Entity i can choose is 'Account'. But i want to Filter trough
Opportunitys as well. (Both Tables are used in CR).
Any Ideas?

deleted and re-added). The client shared the default contact views to the

I'm aware that isv.config is changed when customisations are imported with
the Deployment Manager. But Publish Custumisation also seems to overwrite
the file from somewhere (even if only contacts is selected to publish
etc.)...?
Our problem is a client is editing forms and they lose any changes to the
isv.config every time they publish.. Where is it getting overwritten from?
(We edit _resources\isv.config)

I initially installed the CRM server to the default url of the server
(i.e. http://servername). I then installed SharePoint and it messed
the configuration up. I then uninstalled SP. Now I can't get to the
default server's url of http://servername.

Fixing SFO errors
We have been having all sorts of different SFO errors with pages not
loading correctly etc. After calling MS we got some decent info I thought I
would share for people who maybe running into similar problems.
1. In Outlook 2003 increase the amount of ram to Forms to 8192
2. Clear the forms cache
3. Install the 2003 Forms Cache hotfix
Im awaiting instructions on where the hotfix and what needs to be done, but
basically our problem was when running SFO we would get script errors
sometimes when having multiple windows open at the same time. Most
specifically was when creating a new account, then creating a new primary
contact while in the new account window we would get form script errors.
The problem was resolved immediatley by clearing the Outlook cache (even
after rebooting/reloading etc) then more by increasing the ram to forms and

Refreshing a view after Update
Hi
I have a button that invokes an aspx page which updates some object
(say some attribute of a quote or account).I've used the Update
function in the SDK and display a message that the update has been
successful.There is no problem until this part.
Now, Is there a way for this change to be automatically cascaded in
the view page? or Is there some other way to refresh the pages or
close the current window etc and reload it again?

Datamigration Problem
Hello All,
We are having a problem importing Accounts. He is the situation.
We believe that we have done everything necessary to carry out a successful
import from the Datamigration document, but the import still fails.
There are no error logs created and nothing created in the event viewer,
although when the data import runs it does state that there had been a SQL
Server Error, but no other details are given.
When we check CRM it appears that some information has been imported but all
of the records are the same.
we where doing a test of 10 records and all 10 records contained the same
information when imported. there doesn't appear to be any pattern as to
which one on our records was chosen as the one that supplied the data
either.
has anyone else come across this issue and if so did you manage to solve the
problem?

horrible experience installing ms crm
first of all, sorry for all the "axonom power" track posts. it kept saying form submission failed.
anyway, installed ms crm 1.2, then tried to install the same data for adventure works cycle. in the process data import process, i got some error. i don't recall the error. i tried to run the data import again, got a message "you can only run data import once, you must reinstall crm". ok, great..... I should add ms crm was working great prior, except that it had no data. so i reinstalled crm completely. Now i get a new error in the install process towards the very end "setup was unable to unregister the sercurity service" i have no choice but to ingore the err, it will not succeed on the retry. so, after the install, i try to load the web app and i get this error "...security service has been disabled or has not yet started" so when i look in services there is no ms crm security service installed. I see all the other ms crm services, but not this one. i uninstalled ms crm again, completely. tried installing again, and i am still getting the same error. What can this be? CRM Shortcuts toolbar missing
Hi,
I am having problems with CRM Sales for Outlook. The CRM
toolbar and CRM folders have disappeared. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled CRM and SQL Server MSDE, and
still have the problem. The CRM Shortcuts item that
normally appears under the View/Toolbars menu has
disappeared. I can still access the CRM Website without
any problems. The only articles that I can find relevant
to this issue on the Internet refer to CRMADDIN.DLL, and
mention removing/adding this DLL. I don't know how to go
about doing this, but I have checked that the DLL exists
on the hard drive and it appears to be registered (there
are multiple entries in the registry for it).
Any help would be appreciated.

CRM Sales for Outlook - toolbar has disappeared

has anyone assigned 'Today date'( new Date()) to a custom
date filed on the form - OnChange of a Picklist field, I
have the following code.

This assigns, currect date to the field, but then when I
save it does not like it. When I manually assign a date
it displays in the format mm/dd/yyyy, and saves
correctly, so I changed the script to:

DatefiledName.value = s;
This also accepts and displays the date as 'mm/dd/yyyy'
but when I save , it again does not like the format.

modify fields
Hi - just started using CRM and have several questions.
1. How do I modify the COUNTRY field? I want a user to be
able to type in the name of the country and return and
display the 2-letter country abbreviation? Do I have to
build a new table for that or can I modify the country
field as it is now?
2. How do I apply or change field rules such as case-

One of our sales people is currently getting an error when trying to use
SFO. This was working on his machine for months and decided to stop working
last week. He can still access the server from the web, but connecting
through SFO blows up.
The error returned is below. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
Only thing I could find about it was:

on MSDN and that hardly tells me what's wrong. Funny thing is the EXACT same

Security settings for added tabs/buttons?
How do I integrate security settings for my added tabs
and buttons so that members that are assigned specific
roles can only access/see them?

switching out the sql server in crm environment
Currently I have a crm server, integration server, and a
sql/exchange/active directory server in my test
environment. CRM is up and running, I've already done the
integration process from GP and I've done the migration
process from siebel. I finally came across another box
that I can use and my sql server. I'm wanting to remove
sql from the current box that it is on and move it to
another box. Does any know of any problems with this? I
know everyhting is pretty much based off of the sql
server. So, how do I go about changing where the crm
server and integration server are pointing in regards to
sql? What are my options in doing this and what are the
problems associated in just moving sql rather than
starting from scratch and reloading everything?

trying to access report is a member of the administrator?
Does the Crystal engine and report not install by default? I have tried
Disc 4 but I get the message that I have to upgrade from 9.2.0 to 9.2.2?
Where to I get the upgrade of the net?

Sorting in the leads screen
I really need to make the sorting come from a different
primary key in the dbase. Looks like in the leads screen
it comes from the primary key LeadID.

System wide SFO error
We have one client installation and our demo install thats having an issue
but our live office server is not.
In SFO if I goto Account..New Account.. Type Account Name, click on Primary
Contact, New Contact, Put the name in and Close I will get this error:

Like I said we have one client running 1.2 w/ 10 Licenses as a demo and we
have our demo laptops that have the same error. However, we use 15 seats of
CRM at our office for internal and are unable to reproduce the error.
To me its a configuration issue because its only on the SFO not web client.
I looked at the quickcreate.aspx file and they are the same. Our demo
computers are running Office 2003 Pro, and the clients demo computers are
running Office 2000 Pro with Outlook 2003. All the computer have Domain
Users as local admins, and we also added Localhost as trusted sites and
tried to lower activex controls etc etc

modifying forms
Does any one know why when I modify a form and publish it,
it 1. sets the ISV.config back to the original and 2. the
changes don't show up?
We modified the isv, but it keeps defaulting back to the
original after publishing.

imported 600+ leads that needs to be converted to contacts...but cant find a way to convert all of them into contacts.
Not automagically. But you could use the SDK and write a short app that does
just that.
