Emails and SFO? Not copying to sent items...
Apparently CRM Emails that are sent are not copied to your sent items in
outlook. This really seems like a deal breaker to me -- and a real barrier
for end users. The biggest reason we are considering using CRM is because of
the extensive amount of time our users spend in outlook. I can see the users
now bitching because they cannot find emails they sent and work with them in
the way they normally would.

Microsoft CRM 1.2 Product Catalog Security
I'm trying to customize one CRM installation for multiple Sales Teams. The
problem is, as every team members have their own Leads, Accounts, etc...
Each team has his own products catalog. Is there is anyway which we can
customize the security of the product catalog as we do with other CRM
elements? for example, for accounts we can set the security roles to be on
OU level. So I did the setup with a Different OU for each sales team. but
still the product catalog is shared among all the OU's!
Does anyone have a solution for this? is there is a better way to setup

ModifiedOn Date change.
Hi,
Did anyone notice that if you change a security role and save it, it will
change the modified on for all the records asociated with this security
roll. It will even change the Modified on for closed records.
I have a report for closed cases and the only way to know when a report was
closed is to check it's status as resoved and then when it was laset
modified, now that i changed a security role all my cases open or resoved
have the same modified on date and i can not rut the report any more.
Is this a bug? is it known? what runs in the background when you change a
security role, can i do something to solve this?

Reporting Services CRM Feature Pack
I am trying to install the Reporting Services CRM Feature Pack on a SBS 2003.
I have installed Reporting Services and SP1 for it. Everything installed
just fine when I installed Reporting Services. I went to install the Feature
Pack for CRM (also installed on the same server) and at the very end of the
installation, I get the following error:
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
That is it and then it backs itself out of the installation. Any ideas? I
have not been successful researching the error as it is highly generic.

Thought I'd share some performance tips and tricks with everyone.
If you enable HTTP Compression and Custom HTTP header to your CRM web app it
really increases the performance. There are a couple of tweaks you can apply
(should be very careful)
1.) Enable HTTP Compression - Check out the link

I have deployed to a # of clients and the app is flying. These tweaks along
with some SQL tuning really provides a noticeable difference in performance.

Data not complete i SFO on newly installed client
One of our salespersons got a new PC and everything was installed from
scratch without problems. After that only a portion of the content in CRM is
showing up in SFO. That is both in off-line and on-line mode.

24 hours display mode
When I open an appointment in the Dutch CRM version the start and end
time are in PM/AM notation is it possible to change this in a 24 hour
format.

Crystal paper size
Hi,
I have created a customised crystal report to print as a receipt on a 8x6
paper size.
But when viewing the report thru CrystalViewer, the paper size always
appears as Letter size. And when I change the paper size on the printer, the
printout will be on 2 pages.
Its seems that the paper size has been fixed internally in the
CrystalViewer. Would anyone know if this is true? Is there any place where I
can change the paper size?
I have already set the paper size in Crystal Designer and it appears
correctly if printing direct from Crystal Designer.

Open contract grid from Case.
Hi,
I need help!
I would like to open a contract grid from a buttom in the menu bar of case
AND that need to be filter by the account I select in Case form.
I can create a buttom in isv.config and open the aspx grid contract but I
dont know how to pass parameters and every contract is int he same grid. If
I use passsparam=1 that will be case parameters and it does'nt work because
the contract is link to an Account and not to a Case.
And We dont want the contract lookup...
It's really important. Did somebody can help me?

CRM workflows do absolutely nothing
I have a CRM system with a professional suite license and am trying to set up
a number of work flow rules. I can apparently create the rules and workflow
manager shows they are created and active. I can create the opportunities on
which the workflows depend at which point nothing happens. CRM just behaves
as though workflows do not exist. I remember doing this on the CRM
customisation course when it seemed to work (albeit rather tempermentally)
but when I try it in the office there is no effect whatsoever.
I currently have rule something like
Object : Opportunity View : Rule
Name Description Event Status
Test test Create Active
And the rule is;
When opportunity is created
Task : test
Where the task is to create an activity which is due immediately. However
when I create the opportunity there is no evidence that the workflow exists,
i.e. no activities, no tasks, nothing in workflow manager or monitor.

Sending email from MSCRM
Hi,
We've been experiencing some weird behaviour when sending emails from
within MSCRM. Users have complained that emails have been sent from
contact records but the email still remains under the activity tab and
hence does not appear under the history tab. This leads you to believe
that the email has not actually been sent. However, the recipient has
received it.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so does anyone know of a fix?

Crystal Reports 9.2 Logon Failure on data verification
Hi
if i try to verify the data on ther CRM Database of our production system i
get a Logon failure:
'Logon failed.
Details: An error occurred while resolving logged on user IDs through the
BizUser service.'
On our test system it works well. Crystal Client and Connection account are
the same. I have full admin rights on both systems. Test = W2k Server,
Production = W2k Advanced Server.
I have problems with the crystal backup tool (crystalbackup.exe) for
redeployment, too. He tells me 'wrong password' even if i changed it a few
minutes befor. Maybe there is a connection?
Any idea?

Service objects in Sales Standard or Professional
I'm aware of it that I can't create service objects (e.g. case, contract)
while I have only Sales license. But I'm wondering, whether I'll see cases
from the record level (in Account record type - Cases side tab) registered by

Automatically go Offline?
When our Sales Reps are at the office and are synchronizing the Outlook
Client (going online) at the start of the working day, some times they forget
to go offline again at the end of the day. Result: The Outlook client cannot
be used when working in the field (message: access denied, cannot find
server). Is there a way to automaically go offline, when closing Outlook?
Would be great if anyone could help.

Hi,
Some users in my organization are getting an Access Denied error while
trying to read an e-mail sent by another internal user.
Here's the scenario:
- The organization is comprised of multiple business untis, the 2 business
units that we're dealing with are the last 2 (Sales and Sales Coporate). None
of them is the main business unit and Sales BU is the parent of Sales
Corporate BU.
- Each user in both BU is assigned a custom salesperson role
(salesperson_custom) which restricts the Activity Read access to the user
level so that each salesperson can only read his activities and the
activities that have been shared or assigned to him.
Everything was working quite good till now when a user in the Sales BU with
the role salesperson_custom tried to send an e-mail to users (all with
salesperson_custom role) from both his BU (Sales) and the child BU (Sales
Corporate).
In this case, all users in the Sales BU (same BU as the sender) were able to
read the e-mail, but users in the child BU got an Access Denied error while
trying to open the received e-mail.
That same sender, if he tries to send an e-mail only to one of the users
that had the Access Denied error in the previous attempt, the receiving user
will be bale to open and read the e-mail. Weird! The problem only happens if
mixed users from both the parent and child BU are included in the TO field...
Another thing I noticed is the following:
If a user that was experiencing the Access Denied error logs in and goes to
workplace -> My Work -> E-Mail, he can see the error generating e-mail, but
if he goes to: Workplace -> Activities and then choose "View all activities"
the erronous e-mail does not appear in the grid!
Anybody has a clue of what is causing this issue since it is very
frustrating...

MS CRM retreiving data from an AS/400?
I'm curious about interfacing Microsoft CRM to an/any ERP package running on
an AS/400, perhaps using MS HIS, but there are other middleware connectors
available. I don't necessarily need the link to update AS/400 records from
MS CRM, but would like to retrieve account information on-demand from the
AS/400 for populating some of the data fields in the client interface of MS
CRM. The purpose being to add the MS CRM into an existing AS/400 ERP
environment.
Any pioneers out there with some experiences to share?

Outlook Client functions
I installed the CRM Server and it appears to be working.
I just installed the first PC with the CRM Sales for Outlook. I can't tell
what was installed. Other than it showing up in my add and remove programs,
I have no evidence that it's been installed.
Can someone tell me what I should be seeing if it installed and is working
correctly?
I found a KB article that told me to remove and re-add the COM Add-in. But
that didn't seem to change anything.

Report Error
When attempting to run CRM Reports for the first time we are receiving the
error "Information is needed before this report can be processed" I have
found documentation that states that this can happen if your server has an
underscore. Our server does not it is named ourcompany.server.eeecrm Can
the periods have the same effect as the underscore. Or does anyone have
another cause?

Can not publish customatization
I had a field on the new acount form, and then all the sudden it was gone.
When I go into the customizations the field is there in all the preview
modes, but when I try to publish the change through the DM, I dot an empty
Publish Objects window.
Could be that I'm very new to this and I am missing a step:
1. change the form through CRM, save and close.
2. go to the deployment manager on the CRM server, right click, publish
customization.
3. See empty Publish Objects Windows.
Any ideas or hints would be greatly appreciated.

Reporting on Sales Stage duration? Is it possible?
We are using the professional version of MSCRM & a workflow driven sales
process.
Is is possible to report on the number of days an opportunity has been in a
series of sales stages over time?
For example:
Stage 1) Suspect = 25 days
Stage 2) Prospect = 16 days
Stage 3) Quote = 7 days
Stage 4) Negotiation = 3 days
Sale closed = Opportunity duration: 51 days
I big question I have is about the database storing the stage change dates.
Does anyone know if it stores these stage changes with a time/date stamp? If
so where, and how do I access them?

Can't go back online with Outlook CRM Client
I am able to go offline with the CRM client for Outlook. When offline, I
can't access any CRM data though. When I try to access CRM data in the
"offline" state I get an error that says "An error has occurred. For more
information, contact your system administrator." I'd like to know if anyone
can tell me what to do to fix that.
Plus, when I try to go back online I get an error that says "An unknown
error has occurred. Retry the action. If the problem persists, contact your
system administrator."
Any ideas on what could be the problem? In order to "fix" the problem of
not being able to go back online, I have to remove and then re-install the
CRM Client for Outlook. Very frustrating.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Benchmark performance of CRM
I was wondering, I am new to CRM and am in the midst of a CRM pilot. I am
getting complaints from my pilot group on performance. I am trying to track
down whether it's bandwidth, SQL, CRM, the hardware etc. The one unknown I
have is I have nothing to compare to without having experience with other
CRM implementations. Can I get some honest feedback on the capabilities of
CRM. Should I be seeing a 5 to 10 second delay to refresh a list of accounts
for example. If a perfect world does this thing hum along without delays?

Work flow manager
I am attempting to set up a work flow that will send e-mails and create tasks
when an Order is created. I created a field called "CustomerReOrder" which
allows us to specify if this is a new order or if this is a new order.
Different actions will be taken with each condition. When I look at the SQL
server database the only values for this field are "1" is it is a reorder or
"Null" if it is a new order. The system always defaults and send the "Thank
you for Order" e-mail and tasks even if this is a reorder? Can a workflow
condition not be a custom field that I have created? Below is the Rule from

Hi,
I am trying to set a discount list for volume purchases with no success.
The list I need to create is such:
1 item = 100% of price
second and third item (the same item) = 50 % (for each ) of the price
fourth item and on = 25 % ( for each ) of the price
For example, if the price is 100$, than
1 item = 100$
2 items = 150 $
3 items = 200$
4 items = 225 $
5 items = 250 $ and so on.
I tried both the '%' and quantity lists, but with no success. Is it
possible? I need directions please.

Error when I try to sing in Microsoft CRM web client
When I try to sing in Microsoft CRM web client this error occurs:
Extern error: object does'nt exist in the server, check that the object
exist in the database and also in the active directory.
I think this happen after I installed the service pack 2.

Create new SMTP Sub Domain
when i create a new SMTP sub domain, in order not to verify every incoming
mail for crm links, specifically for my crm mails, can i then use my existing
exchange server to handle this domain? or do i have to install a new exchange
server?
and if i can use my existing exchange, how do i then configure my router to
only verify mails coming in my new crm subdomain (and not all mails coming in
my exchange environment)?

just a quick verification to be absolutely sure:
if i work in a Win2000 AD Domain running in native mode, i must install
Exchange 2000, and NOT 2003, right?
even i plan to install a new server, running win server 2003, on which i

version, does it?

Can't Install IBF for MS CRM
Dear All
I just Install Microsoft.InformationBridge.Framework.Server1.0.msi and
Microsoft.InformationBridge.Framework.Client1.0.msi on My CRM Server
v.1.2(Windows 2003) and config permission for network service on temp
folder and file. After that i tried to installed
MOIBF1.0_Solution_CRM1.0.msi on my CRM Server. when i published metabase
and clicked next button.it seem to install IBF for MS CRM but after 15
sec. it show error message box "Error : 28000 contact System
Administrator".
What can i do ?

I am trying to modify the view for Opportunities -> Contacts associated view.
In know that editing of this view is not exposed in the System Customization
UI and so one must use the workaround that has been developed in this group
to do it which is using this url:

CRM Mobile Client
Hi,
We have one server in our organisation running SBS 2k3. The machine also
hosts OWA, CRM, companyweb etc.
We want to implement CRM Mobile but on page 17 of the CRM Mobile
Implementation Guide it states that CRM Mobile does not support:
Microsoft CRM installed on a server with multiple Web Sites, when the Web
Sites are distinguished by host header names.
After checking IIS on my server, I found the following information and just
want to confirm that CRM Mobile won't work in our present environment:
5 Websites
- companyweb (host header values: companweb & companyweb.<fqdn>
- default website (no host header value)
- Sharepoint Central Administration (no header value)
- MS Sharepoint Administration (no header value)
- MS CRM Version 1.2 (host header values: business-crm & business-crm.<fqdn>
If the above means that CRM Mobile can't be installed on the server, what
are our options? Do we need an additional member server to host CRM & CRM
Mobile? Can CRM Mobile be hosted on a seperate machine from CRM and can it be
a PC based machine?

MS CRM - Apache Web Server co-exist???
Does anyone know if there would be problems with this?
We have and application (Kronos) that runs through an apache web
server to an sql database that is all on one server.
We want to install CRM on that same server and still be able to use
the other application.
My thoughts are to bind another ip address to the NIC, publish that
address in dns and bind IIS to that. Then install CRM and use the
second address for CRM and the original for the other application.

Customize Form
I have been trying to update the current Account Forms that are provided and
I am able to update and change the fields within the "Customize Form"
section, but the changes are not reflecting within the system. When I select
"update form" or any other view the changes are there, but are still not

Refresh CRM Development Databases
Hello,
We have CRM setup on our domain in a production
environment and also in a child domain in a development
environment. The redeployment tools were run the first
time to setup this up, but how do I refresh the databases
now a year later? SQL backups/restores won't work I
think as it busts Active Directory in the development
environment.
