Mapping Attributes from Custom Entities
I have created a Custom Entity - Installation in which i have a Productid
attribute [which is related from Product Entity]. I have added Installation
entity to case entity. Now i want that once i select installation in case
the productid should automatically flow from installation entity to case
entry. How can this be done? I have tried it creating custom mapping, but the

Hello, I try to import some contacts. During the importwizzard everything
seems to be fine. If I look in the view of bulkimport- no reccord was
importet.

HTTP Error-401.3
Hi,
I've ms crm installed on windows server-2003. it was up and running. but
after installing Visual studio(.NET) and MS-frontpage, when user tries to
login using his credentials, he is not able to login. After three
unsuccessful attempts it gives a foll. error.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page due to the access
control list (ACL) that is configured for this resource on the Web server
HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to an ACL set on the
requested resource.
Internet Information Services (IIS)
Though administrator is able to login in to ms crm.
Any help would be appreciated.

Is it possible to install the workflow manager on a client machine? I have a
user who is a system administrator in CRM and needs the workflow manager.

Can Someone help me with some JScript
Hey, I was wondering if someone could help figure out how to log realtime
phone call durations... This is for telemarketers... (though it could be
applied for many activity situations...
The business scenario:
Using the MS CRM RSS feed add-on, the telemarketer is reminded of their call
time (pretty nifty) if they are free, they open the Phone call record and
once they connect, they'd click a bit field (checkbox) called "Start Timer".
(If I get really fancy, I'd like the textbox label to change to "Stop Timer",
which I think has been documented in this forum). This would start either one
of two things:
Triggered workflow that would update a hidden datetime (new_CallStart) field
to now (date and time) upon execution of the workflow. It would wait for the
checkbox to be un-checked. This would then update another hidden datetime
field (new_CallStop) upon the execution of that workflow step.
Now, all I need is for the onChange event of the Checkbox to give the
DateDif of these two fields in hours and minutes. Once this value is greater
than 00:00, this value would update the Duration Field.
If I can get this to work (datedif-esq function) I can apply this to many
activity scenarios... Some clients are real sticklers about how much time is
spent on what activity... My goal is to keep this workflow on hand for future
implmentations. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Is there a way to close Activities via workflow
This is always an issue, and I have tried many times to work this out in a
non-programmatic, non-unsupported way. But here's what I'm thinking:
Make a Create rule for each activity type that evaluates the "Due Date"
field. Once it goes past the due day (say a day), close the activity...
The problem is that there is no way to evaluate a NOW() type date with the
due date. So now I'm thinking, can you create a date field in each activity
form that will be updated (via the wait timer in workflow) everyday. Now
there's a date with which we can compare with the due date field. So now when
the "Now" date field is greater than (ie one day past), the activity status
will move to closed.
Has anyone tried this?? Will it work?? (I've been pondering this all night
and I'm off today, so I curious to see if this is viable)

Change Default value for Date and Time Value
Is it possible to st a default value for date and time field?
For example: Task Due Time is always set to be 12.00am, we would like to
change it to 800am or 9.00am, etc.
I've looked at the attribute itself and system settings from organization,
but i couldn't locate anything there?

CRM Online Clinet Performance
Hi -
I'm getting some very strange (and annoying) behavior with outlook.
Periodically (every 15mins or so), Outlook will slow to a crawl. Typing an
e-mail becomes very erratic and difficult. This lasts anywhere from 30sec to
a couple of mins.
Looking at CPU usage, I notice that Outlook CPU cycles spike up to over 50%
during this period of time . Guessing that it might be related to the CRM
sync (since that is scheduled to occur every 15mins), I checked out the sync
progress dialog . What was weird was that even though the dialog reported
that all sync tasks were complete, the animated progress bar was still
moviing. Also, it seems very strange that the CRM sync process would consume
over half of my CPU cycles for 2-3 mins when nothing needed syncing! And you
can see a lot of I/O is occuring during this period.
This behavior only started after I recently re-installed CRM. My local
profile recently got corrupted and I had to recreate it. As an end result,
it turned out that I had to re-install CRM. I never experienced this
behavior before then.
Any thoughts?

Prevent quote before opportunity
Hi
Is anyone aware of how you can prevent a user from creating a quote before
creating an opportunity? We would like our sales team to always enter the
Opportunity first and move in a logical progression through the stages. We
would like to prevent them from creating an order before a quote and so.
We would really appreciate any assistance.

Synchronization errors - Customization
Does all the clients need to be online while customizatins are done, For
example, if I remove field from CRM database, and users have transferred it
to offline mode. When users come back onlin there is a synchronization
errors. Errors are Finnish so I dont know what they are in english, but thing
is that synchronization freezes and doesn´t go through....

Scheduling for others
Using CRM 4.0 and the Outlook client. Want to schedule activities for my boss
and have it tracked in CRM and assign a "Regarding". I can of course perform
both functions when scheduling for myself. But those two options are not
available when scheduling for another person. Is there something I'm missing?

Resource Form Assistant
Hello,
I am using CRM3.0
I have multiple sites in CRM, like "Site1", "Site2".
For each sites, I have room and machine.
Site1: Room1, Room2
Site2: Room1, Room2
I create a resource groups as "Room". Add 4 "Room"s to this group.
I create a service, define rule to select 1 "Room" from "Room" Group.
The problem comes when I create service activity!
In service activity, after I select the site, on "Resource", system didn't
Filter the resource (using site) for users. As a result, it becomes
Room
-> Room1
-> Room1
-> Room2
-> Room2
User will not know which Room is the sites.
Is there anyway to do the filter on lookup or Form Assistant for resource?

Combining fields and making them read only

I have an entity called store which has two fields
store name picklist which is a picklist of store names
and store name which is the custom crm entity field when a new entity is
created
the store is linked to a sales rep
i have the following code to automatically enter the value from the
storename picklist into store. However the issue is that i cant make the
store name field read only despite the code being in the onchange event for
the storename and the storename picklist. ANy suggestions please. thanks

IIS Worker Process
Hi all,
Lately I have been logging onto client's servers to do bits and pieces with
CRM.
On non CRM servers I haven't seen this but servers with CRM have 2 issues,
One is the IIS Worker Process is having an issue and also the Microsoft Error
reporting has a list of errors. This seems to be fairly generic accross the
CRM installations we have, although it is intermittent most of the time.
Has anyone seen or even fixed this?!?!

Sending emails from a custom entity
We have created a number of custom entities with an email attribute but the
'send email' option does not know the attribute. The 'To' field does not
populate. Using the selection also fails with a cannot create token error. Is
there a specific attribute name that the send email is looking for? Can we in

Is it possible to add a new "Area" toolbar/menu item to the lower left corner

Week numbering
We have a big problem with swedish week numbers in the calendar. These do not
correspond to american week numbering. This is critical!!!
Since the business we're in rely heavily on week planning this really is a

Missing CRM toolbar in Outlook 2003
Hi,
I have installed outlook 2003 client with CRM 3.0. I was able to see the
menu, menu items for CRM and go offline buttons in outlook 2003 and used it
couple of times. But after sometime it got vanished from the Outlook toolbar.
I am not able to spot even one menu of CRM. After going through internet, I
tried adding the crmaddin.dll plugin, but it displayed a Runtime error( which
i am not sure, it is the right way to add it). Please let me know if anybody

Emails - "To" and "From" are both the same when I assign a Complai
I am new to CRM 3.0. I have set up a workflow rule that send out an email to
the User that I am assigning the Complaint to. However, everything works
fine except the "To" field and the "From" field both show the name of the
Assignee. Its probably to do with the fact that the ownerid field gets

Outlook personal Contacts: mass update to CRM?
Hi all,
I'm trying to figure out a way how users can easily move (or share actually)
their personal Contacts already in Outlook, to CRM.
I'm aware it's not too difficult to do it manually by first activating a
Contact and then hittin Track in CRM. Still it would be extremely helpful it
this could be done as a mass operation. Especially when the number of
personal Contacts (which now would need to be shared in CRM) is huge.

Security based on Account Type
Can we define security/access based on field(s), say Account Type of Account,
when Account Type is anything but "TypeA", all users of the system have full
access, however when Account Type is "TypeA", only certain group(s) of people

We imported over 40,000 contacts into ContactBase table in CRM 3 but not a
single a record was created in ContactExtensionBase table. Why?? If we
manually created a contact then records are found in both tables. Any idea?

Dynamic picklist issues
I have created a dynamic picklist (similar situation to the one
described here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/midatlanticcrm/archive/2005/12/04/499868.aspx).
It works, but if the user changes the option in the parent picklist, I
want to be able to regenerate and then refilter the child picklist.
I.E. If the parent picklist has options A, B and C, and the child
picklist has options 1 - 30. If I select A, I want to display options
1 - 10 in the child picklist etc. This worked for the first time I
change the parent picklist after loading the form, but after that, my
code reads only the items displayed in the filtered child picklist,
instead of all the values in the actual attribute.
Is there a way to do this? I hope I'm making sense, it's kind of hard
to explain.

Accessing Notes field for reporting

CRM has a notes field in pretty much all of its system entities and custom
entities. I am wanting to know how using SQL i can grab the information in
notes field.
For example, if i run a simple query select * from lead
there is no field called notes .

Unsupported Security Settings
Installing Outlook online client get this error:
"Unsupported Security Settings
MIcrosoft CRM requires that ActiveXcontrols are enabled. Your current
security settings prevent this. You need to enable ActiveX and try again".
It goes on to explain how and where to enable these. Going there we find
they are in fact already enabled.

Tell if it is impossible to create a product catalog in this order according
to these instructions.
Creating the Product Catalog
The Microsoft CRM product catalog is the central location for storing
product information. The product catalog is a collection of information about
your organization's products and services. The items in the product catalog
are created or managed through the Settings area of Microsoft CRM.
Additionally, you can view the product catalog either online, when you are
connected to your corporate network, or offline when you are at a customer's
site by using the Microsoft CRM client for Outlook.
Before you can add products or services to your product catalog, you must
create the applicable discount lists, unit groups, and price lists for your
products. To create the product catalog, set up each product catalog area in
the following order:
1. Discount lists
2. Unit groups
3. Price lists
4. Products
When you get to 3 you must link the â??price list itemâ?? to a product. How can
you do this if you have not created products in step 4? The answer is you
canâ??t.
You can go to 4 and create a new product leaving the Default Price List
field blank. You will get a warning â??a default price list has not been set.â??
Then you need to go back to 3 and create a new price list with at least 1
price list item which can be linked to the product you just created.
This supports my following statement:
As a technical person with an extensive accounting background, I do not get
the reasoning for price list and products. It seems as though you cannot
reuse a pricelist. I have created several products and the pricing
calculates correctly, butâ?¦I donâ??t understand.
Please confirm the following:
You need to create a price list [with at least one price list item] for each
product in the product catalog. Right?
Once you use the price list you cannot use it for another product. Right?

Missing Opportunities When in Outlook Interface
Afternoon All,
I am having an issue when using CRM via Outlook. When I login to CRM via
Internet Explorer, I am able to see all of my open Opportunities. The
problem arises when I try to use Outlook and search for opportunities. For
both, I am using the default "open opportunities" view, but there are a few
opportunities that are missing in the Outlook view vs. the IE view.
Does anyone know what is going on with this? I have confirmed this in a
couple of users accounts.

There are a number of 'system views' for opportunites like "Opportunities
Closing Next Month"
These views all seem to include already CLOSED opportunities, which does not
make any sense! And, as system views, it does not appear I can 'fix' the
filtering criteria.
I can create new views that do what is expected, but this does not seem like
valid behavior!
Can I hide the system views?
Am I doing something wrong?

Shared SQL Server
We are planning an inhouse implementation.
We have Navision running off of our SQL server atm, and it is mission
critical.
I know that a shared SQL server is not recommended, but it is allowed for.
What is the experience out on the street with this?
1. Any known issues with sharing a SQL server that is running Navision (3.6)?
2. What are the odds that problems with the install will bring the server
down?
3. Performance should not be a problem (it is a robust server) but are there

entities of Sales module and marketing module.

I posted this a little while ago with no responses so I am trying again.
Does 3.0 auto complete appointments like 1.2 did? It doesn't appear that it
does and I am wondering if there is a sql job to do this or do I need to
write my own.
