    - Offline cannot view records not owned by me. I am testing CRM 4.0 right now. I have a test server where I deployed our CRM 3.0 environment then ran an upgrade to 4.0. I have an offfline client installed on a laptop. When I go offline, and go to a custom entity that I have set up to sync, it gives me an error when I try to open a record that is not owned by me. It is a generic error with no info but in the event log I see event ID 1309. Inside the message I see: Exception message: The 'RetrievePrincipalAccess' method does not support entities of type 'new_designerpoints' on the client But I am set as the Owner of the record, it works fine. This seems to happen with all my custom entities. I am a System Administrator on CRM so I should have access. What could be causing this?     - Setting an integer to null I have a check box on a form that shows YES or NO when displayed as a column in that forms view(s). I'd like it to show YES, but in the case of NO I'd like it to be null. I've tried using the OnChange event for that field and the OnSave event for the form to test if it is not 1 and if so set the DataValue = null.     - Moving data from Production to Development Hi, We have four different environments, all are CRM 3.0 deployments, production has real time data. We want to move the data from production to Test environment. For that i have taken the back up of production and restored on existing databases of Test env. Restoration was fine, i have changed the sqlaccess groups to point to the Test env. The data looks like fine, some users are able to login and for some users it says, " Microsoft CRM could not log you on the system. Make sure your user record is enabled and that you have been assigned atleast one security role. When i check it up in the DB my record shows as administrator role. What is going wrong here.     - Workflow will not resume after a wait-condition Hallo! We have an issue with some workflows. The problem is that *sometimes* after a workflow has entered a wait-condition, it will not resume afterwards. That is even though the wait-condition has been met. We have tried to wait for days, but the only way to get it going is to press the workflow's resume button. Then it will continue as it should. Is this some kind of a bug? Are there any way to resolve this problem? The workflows are standard workflows with no custom made code.     - Autopopulate Case Resolution Dialog Box Hi We are aware that we cannot populate the 'Case Resolution Dialog Box' so we have created custom attributes named 'Resolution' , 'Description' and 'Resolved' and inserted these fields on the Case form. We would not like to remove the Case Resolution record or button from CRM however we would like the fields on the 'Case Resolution Dialog Box' to be autopopulated with the information that was captured on the Case form. I attempted to do this using a workflow rule which of course did not work.     - Lookup equals null - Jscript Hi I need help with a simple bit of Jscript. I need to hide a tab when a person opens the service actvity form and the 'Service' lookup does not contain data.     - Problem importing organization into new server Hey, I have been given a SQL backup of a clients new CRM system to build into my own dev environment. I have CRM 4 Server installed, and it is running my new organisationt. I have run the Import Organisation routine and I can see my new (empty) organisation as the default organisation and also see the one I want to restore. The problem is that I cannot see how to select the organisation that I want to restore. I have set it to default, I have even tried disabling and deleting the newly installed (empty) organisation..     - How to set default time zone used? Hi, I found several issues with the timezone in the forum and in our office :-) I would like to fix the following: When users to change there work time the "default" timezone is set to their profile, which causes several problems. Isn't it possible to set the "default" time zone used on EVERYTHING, - so when a new user is created, working time is changed,.... it always preselectes the timezone generally wanted.     - Price lists don't show up on Opportunity form I have a product catalog set up with two products, each of which is Active, and each of which is also a Price List Item in a Price List that is Active. but no matter what I do, when I create a new Opportunity record and try to select the Price list so users can do product pricing on the opportunity, the price list never shows up (no price list ever shows up). I've done this lots of times on other CRM deployments, but I can't get price lists to show up in my production environment. Has anybody ever seen this kind of problem? Any ideas on things to try?     - Saving is slow Hello, I have one user that anytime she presses the save button it can take up to two minutes for her to get back control of CRM. This happens on Invoices, Contracts, Addresses, anything. While she is waiting to get control back the cpu is showing as 1%-2% usage in task manager. Since it is only happening to her and none of my other users I am assuming it is a problem on her computer, maybe an IE setting but I can't seem to find what the problem is. I have disabled Antivirus, AntiSpam and all non-essential services via msconfig with no luck at all. I read articles on how to debug workflows. They talk about attaching the workflow to an instance of workflow process. I went into the visual studio and there are no running workflow instances.     - Creating Letter Activities using workflow Hello, I have been trying to create a process using workflow rules where certain events will trigger a rule to create a letter activity. So far, I have had limited success. Some rules seem to work fine and some will be inconsistent in that they will either fire when they are supposed to or they won't. Most of the rules I have tried are based on a change of status to trigger them. For example, I have several rules that are supposed to create a letter activity when the opportunity's status is changed to "Won" When I look in Workflow Monitor, I can see the rules running and in some cases finish and they look like they have completed ok, but no letter activity can be found. Any help I could get on this would be appreciated. I have been working on this for months and every time I think I have them working properly, something else seems to go wrong.     - Bulk Email to Closed Leads (MS CRM 3.0) I am not sure if I am loosing my mind or if this really isn't possible. I need to send an email to 250 of my closed leads. I created a marketing list of the leads and a quick campaign for the email but all emails failed with an error something about being blocked by the bulk email. I spot checked the lead's preferences and they all allow bulk email. Do I need to reactivate these leads to do this since you can't create an activity for a closed lead? When I launch outlook, the status goes all the way to "Propagating language setting" and hangs there for about 10-15 minutes. It eventually crashes and exits.     - Workflow We are located in montreal and we have to support 2 language, french and english. We use Queue to receive email form customer requesting support. I want to have CRM email back the customer with an email that let him know that we receive is request. That part is easy and I know how to do it. Here is my problem, I want to send french email to french customer and english email to english customer. If the customer is not in CRM the default will be french. Mainly contact will sent us support request by email. So at that point I add an attribute to the contact form. I named it PreferedContactLanguage and set it to pick list english and french. In the work flow, I create the following rule If E-mail: to equals [supportqueue], then: If regarding (Contact):PreferedContactLanguage equals [english], Then Send email : Create new message in english Otherwise, if regarding (Contact):PreferedContactLanguage equals [French], then: Send email : Create new message in french Otherwise: Send email : Create new message default. That workflow rule actually send the default message, it dosent seam to be able to look for preferedcontactlanguage. The external email address I use to test is linked to a contact in my CRM Is this is a possible customization.     - responses to CRM generated emails Hi there We are generating emails from within MS CRM 3.0, using activities, which allows our users to fill in business required fields, prior to sending the email. This works fine. However, when replies are sent to these emails and are tracked into the CRM, they automatically go into History. As a result none of the business required fields are filled in and because they are sitting in History, we cannot "reactivate" the activity to amend the fields. I thought it might be contacts created in the Blackberry then sync'd to Outlook but that doesn't appear to be the case. I'm still working on finding a pattern, unfortunately this user is travelling a lot so it's hard for me to sit down with her and see what she's doing.     - outlook client startup security issue After doing an 3.0 to 4.0 upgrade last tuesday. 2 of our users who use the outlook client are getting an 'the logged-on user does not have appropriate security permissions to view these records or perform the specifiec action....' when they start up outlook.     - Anyone know how to rename CRM 4.0 Database Server? I've managed to do this once, but all I get now is a generic message: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.     - Moving from 3.0 to 4.0 - episode ll Hi based on Rob Mottrams and Patrick Verbeeten earlier answers to my postings - I now have the following plan; 1) From the production enviroment copy the databases (MSCRM and METABASE) to the test enviroment and restore them there on that 32 bit SQL server. 2) Run the CRM 4.0 installation on top of the CRM 3.0 installation in the test enviroment - (that way database, workflows etc. gets upgraded) the 4.0 install process also creates the MSCRM_config database. 3) Then move the upgraded databases (MSCRM, METABASE and MSCRM_config) back in production and restore them there. 4) Install CRM 4.0 on the new x64 bit servers and point during the installation to the upgraded databases. that should do the job - or? thx for any feedback! Hello,
I have a very strange problem. I have just completed an upgrade from v3 to
v4. All is well in most cases; however for one user....the v3.0 tool bar
will not go away.

When installing v4 client, there is no prompt for an upgrade, so it would
appear the installer cannot see it, v4 Installs and shows the v3 toolbar
which is greyed out 7 the configure Outlook button. It goes through the
configuration screens but when you then open Outlook at the end, the grey v3
tool bar is still there & no v4!

I have tried reinstalling & uninstalling v3 but that makes no difference.

We are running Office 2003 on XP pro.

If anyone has any ideas, I would be most grateful to hear them. Many thanks

In C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
there is a file called outcmd.dat.

Close Outlook and delete this file, then open Outlook, the toolbar should be
gone.

If the toolbar still is not gone, open the regeditor on the computer and
navigate to the CRM client reg hive and delete the UIXMLhash key, again with
Outlook closed.
