We've had several users encounter the same issue - all of the sudden,
their CRM toolbar stops responding. We fix it by closing their
Outlook, copying the crmaddin.dll file from my PC to theirs, deleting
their addin and readding mine. We usually have to go through the
addin removal and addition a few times, but it seems to solve the
issue.

This is a workable fix, but I want to know WHY this is happening.
These users all have laptops but are running the desktop client. I
suspect they're going offline and don't realize it, and this is
somehow corrupting their addin. Has anyone figured out what is
causing CRM to break randomly? Is there a way to allow the desktop
client to go offline?

Thanks!

The desktop client can not go offline. One possibility is that the users have
both wired connections and wireless connections to your network. If this is
the case, when they are "wired" to your network, they might try disabling
their wireless card in their laptops to see if that helps.

I had the same problem with the toolbar not responding.
I don't know why it happens, but I fix it by:

CRM cannot â??Go Onlineâ??
Stuck offline, canâ??t reconnect, cannot go online, Advanced find, CRM toolbar
buttons don't work.

A CRM laptop client seems to be stuck offline.
When clicking on the Go Online button, there is no effect and it appears
that there is no action at all. The client does not go online and data from
the offline subscription is not loaded to the server.
Check other buttons on the CRM toolbar. If Advanced Find also does not
work, there may be a simple fix.
1. Right click on the CRM toolbar and click Customize.
2. In the Toolbars tab, highlight the Microsoft CRM entry and DELETE it.
(It must be deleted, clearing the check box will simply remove the buttons
and not solve the problem.)
3. Restart Outlook. (The CRM client is still installed, so a new toolbar
will be loaded. This time the buttons should work.)

Good luck,

Tom Francisco
