Ok.. this is a weird one. One of our SFO users thought they should do a
system restore back to before crm was installed. Didnt seem to hurt
anything. However...

Now they work fine in online mode. But in offline mode they work only while
connected to the network. Going Online and Offline works perfectly fine.
Seems to be in real offline mode. But then the user gets this error when
trying to use SFO away from their network.

It looks like the client is trying to connect to the remote server even when
in offline mode. Thats the reason it works as long as the client is connected
to the network.
You might want to check the following registry entry once the client has
gone offline
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSCRM\RCOffline
Make sure it is set to 1.

Thanks for the reply,

Already checked that one. everything appears to be in offline mode but he
gets the error when he leaves the network. This one is highly frustrating
especially since this is one of our users in Canada.

Any other ideas?

Have you tried restarting outlook after going offline and disconnecting from
the network?
