Hi,

I just did some customizations in CRM 4.0

I added a menu (with the ISV) in Outlook and the webclient
where a simple user-view is shown.
So all users can easily get phonenumbers of their coworkers.

My problem is, that not everybody sees the menu - and I guess
it has to do with insufficient rights.

As I don't want to give too much rights to normal workers,
but I want them to see the menu (I want extend that in the future)
I added user-read rightts but that doesn't seem to be enough.

What screw I have to tight to fix that ;-)

If you have any idea - please discruibe the right on which tab it is,
because I have a german version.

Thanks a lot for any suggestion

The security role setting you require is ISV Extensions.
In the english version it will be found as the 1st option in the
Miscellaneous Privileges under the customization tab of a security role.

This gives the user rights to see ISV customizations.

I hope that this helps

THANKS a lot for taking time!,
It helped for some users (especialy for my testuser)
but not for all.

Could it be a "bad" ISV that doesn't work for Outlook 2003?
(those who are missing the menu in outlook - can now see it in the webclient)

IT would surprise me that a faulty file would only stop it working for some
users and not others. Are any of the users using the Laptop client, as I
havev found with CRM3 that changes only when to the laptop client after doing
a connect/disconnect cycle to the server.
Also, security setting changes appear to need the CRM Client closed an
re-opened as it stays running in CRM4 after outlook closes. Have you tried
rebooting the clients that don't work?

Hi try to delete the client and availableoffline part; thus:

<MenuItem
Url="http://tip-crm/TIP-AG/tools/business/home_user.aspx?viewid=%7b00000000-0000-0000-00AA-000010001019%7d">

import it in MS CRM and also make sure that following is checked in MS CRM:

- as said in former post: make sure they all have the privileges for ISV
extensions
- settings - administration - system settings - tab customization (5th) -
'Clients' --> select them all in the dropdown (...)

Maybe they are getting cached version. Clear the IE cache.

There is another tip I have seen which allows you to have better
granularity and effectively user-defined security and that is to
create one or more entities just for the purposes of putting a line in
the security grid. In your sitemap you can then use the priviledge
element on a dummy entity to set security. See

Thank you very much for all the help,
it seems that the main problem was a caching problem.
After the weekend nearly all users see the menu :-)

I will keep all the hints in mind.
