We have one user that's getting an error trying to promote from sent items:

"An error occurred while trying to promote the e-mail. Try again."

Now, I've read enough threads to know that it can't / shouldn't be done.
Problem is, everyone else can promote from their sent items, including me.

I haven't gotten into checking his Outlook settings, Office 2003 updates, or
Windows XP updates, but I wanted to get a 'heads-up' from the general
populace before I really go deep into this. :)

CRM is not supposed to be able to promote from sent items folder. In
some cases it is able to do so, but design wise, it is functioning
correctly to not be able to promote. I suggest forwarding the mail to
self, and promote from inbox to add item into CRM.

I know that they can't promote from Sent Items but I have a double-whammy of
"Hey, he can do it, why can't I?" and pushback on CRM adoption. :(

My company is the same...except the split is approximately 50/50.

I wish we knew why some can and others can't.

Cheers!

It is all emails that this person / people cannot promote?

I have a problem at promoting any emails when the sender's name in the From
column appears as an email address rather than the display name, i.e. I can
promote an email from Gill, or Gill Jones but I cannot promote an email from
gill@domain.com

I have had no problems promoting from any folder (sent, inbox or one of my
myriad of other folders) when the From is a name.

I thought the same thing. He can promote inbound no problem. Testing on my
machine works fine no matter how the email is sent: internet address,
contact, whatever.

Has anyone come across a solution for this issue?

I also have a number of client machines which don't promote from sent items
(moving a 'sent item' to a different folder also makes no difference) while
some do.

I realise that perhaps this is not a supported function, butthe fact that it
sometimes works points to there being some workable reason.

Any help much appreciated!
