Is it possible (allowable) to import the entire MS Support Knowledgebase from
a technet subscription into CRM?
If it is allowable, can someone please explain step by step how to

Estimated revenue saving in opportunity form
Hi Guys,
In my opportunity form, I have set up some code to generate the
estimated revenue based on the sales stage. I realise that this sort of
thing already exists, but I've changed it a little.
To describe briefly:
There are 4 sales stages, selected from a picklist (using the existing
salesstagecode schema). These equate to certain probabilities, so I
have an integer probability field that is read-only, and changes
according to the value selected in the sales stage picklist. (I know
there was an existing probability schema, but for some reason I don't
remember, I made a new one... go figure...)
I made a field for project value (before noticing the actualvalue
schema), which the user obviously types in the actual value of the
project. When this or the sales stage is changed, the estimated revenue
is calculated automatically.
Here's the bit I don't understand: This all works fine in the
simulation form, and seems to work fine when creating a new
opportunity, but for some reason, the estimated value doesn't save. I
assume there is some background script that calculates the estimated
revenue according to the out-of-the-box setup. However, I've exported
the Opportunity customization code, and I can't find anything.
Also, I've got entries from when I still had bugs in my setup, and it
won't let me save changes to these.

SQL SRS cannot use the website MSCRM 1.2
When i try upgrade the CRM 1.2 to version 3, all goes well except for the
following problem.

Lead customization
I have customised the lead form to show the customerid field , in case a lead
is referred by an existing account or a contact. However because customerid
is a lookup which finds both contacts and accounts, is there a way to modify
this lookup and ask it to lookup for a particular relationship type under
accounts.

sending e-mails in sales process to a DL group in Outlook
E-mails need to be sent to more than one credit analyst in the
opportunity sales process workflow when an activity on an opportunity
is closed. The e-mail activity follows the wait on the activity to
close.
E-mail in workflow manager for an opportunity can be sent to a logical
user (owner, owners manager, account,contact, account/contact), hard
coded user, contact or account.
How do I get an e-mail to a user group in workflow? We have identified
options below do you have anything better?
Create a DL Group for the Credit Analysts then
1. Setup a Contact as a group for the Credit Analysts.
Create a naming convention or qualification type
Add the DL Group as the e-mail for Contact
Send e-mail to the Contact setup in the system as the contact group.
Make the e-mail of that contact the DL Group contact for all people
this should be sent to.
2. Create a Outlook public folder and make the DL Group the address and
send the e-mail to the public folder
3. Have all salesmen create a rule on their Outlook to check for data
in the acitivity text and forward to a DL Group.

Folder Script
I want to write a script that autogenerates a folder that is named after a
schema attribute. Then an iFrame on a separate tab links to the newly
created folder.
For example, when a new Opportunity is created whether it be manually or
converted from a Lead, I want a "Files" tab to contain an iframe that
references a folder on the CRM server that is named after the Topic schema
value.
This might be a difficult task because it might present a circular problem.
But if anyone can help me out with this, that would be great.

Knowledge base features (HTML style)
Another big gap in the current CRM functionality is inability to apply HTML
style formatting to the articles. I just read a post by Michael Faden and
totally agree with him "I cant believe that this is not possible."
KB is intended for support issues. Sometimes, a picture is worth a thousand
words. In my invironment, it is almost vital to be able to apply HTML style
formatting, including inserting pictures.
What are the Microsoft's plans about it? Is there a way around?

Include a number of record in all views and search results
It is a huge gap in the CRM functionality when a user cannot see a total
number of records he/she is dealing with, whether it is while looking at a
view or performing a search (how many contacts do I have in the state of New
York).
Can someone explain why CRM does not have this very common function? My
users say: "Our old Access database had it!" What do I answer them? CRM is so
advanced that it does not need this functionality? Export your results to
Excel every time you need to know your numbers?"

Switching SQL Servers
Hello,
We were experiencing quite a few performance problems in the first month of
our CRM build in production, so we decided to get a dedicated SQL server for
CRM 3.0. I installed SQL2005 on 2K3 R2 Standard, and I don't want it to be
a member server just yet, just a SQL box. Right now, CRM is being loaded
into a SQL 2005 database on the same machine as CRM. How should I make the
switch, from old SQL to new SQL?

Web Services and JScript in CRM Custom Entity
Hi.
I'm trying to call a custom made web service from a custom entity form. All
i get is nothing. Altough my code is ok (i guess), i have some questions if
someone can help me out.
Situation is this:
On a custom entity form, i have two text boxe. In the first one, input a
numeric code, with a POST request this code is send to a web service. Then,
the web service take this code and in their code transforms the code into
words. If i input 120, the web service returns "one hundred twenty".
Question: i really need to reference crm web services (CrmService and
MetadataService in my OWN CUSTOM WEB SERVICE?).

Annotation Import Not Associating with Account or Contact
When I import data into CRM from the cdf database my Accounts, Accounts_ext,
and Contacts import correctly, the Annotation (Notes) import but are not
associating with the Account or Contact.
For the Object ID, I'm using the same Account ID or Contact ID that I use
when importing the Accounts and Contacts.
I noticed when I go through the Cleanse Data section of the Data Migration
Wizard, I'm not prompted to associate the ObjectTypeCodeName Account or
Contact....I'm not sure if this is the actual problem or not.

If I open my Address Book while in Word or Outlook and choose CRM Accounts
from "Show Names From" dialog box quite a few Accounts are missing even

In Outlook desktop CRM Options the Contacts sincronization was set on by
mistake. All personal contacts went copied to CRM and all contacts on CRM
went copied to Outlook. The option check box is now off but the contacts mess

CRM should not display Tracking tokens, hide them!
When emails are sent from an acitvity in CRM, the system appends a TRACKING
TOKEN to the suject line of the email. This tracking token should not be
visible to the user. You should allow a CRM administrator to turn off

Registration screen
We installed CRM 3.0 trial on SBS2003 and purchased and installed licenses
before the 90 days expired. Today, when we tried to open the CRM screen, we
get the screen "The registration period for CRM has expired!"
Using deployment manager, I can see my server and CAL licenses very clearly.
How do I pass that screen so I can get my users back in?

Problem with resolution of CRM contact emails
Hi,
Our system seems to have a problem with contact email addresses. When
Outlook autofills CRM contact emails it sometimes does not resolve the
email, only the contact name. I'm finding it difficult to replicate
this problem, but some of te CRM users have definitely experienced it.
Has anyone met this scenario before? (and does anyone know what to do
about it???)

NEWBIE: Adding New Fields to the Case Form
I searched the forum but I cannot find anything answering this
question?
I have aded a new Attribute to the "CASE ENTITY" called "SUBSCRIPTION
TYPE". "SUBSCRIPTION TYPE" is a picklist value I creaed that I wish to
be able to display on the standard CASE FORM. "SUBSCRIPTION TYPE"
should be a 1-To-1 field to a CASE.
When I attempt to customize my standard CASE FORM by using "Add fields"
I dont see my new "SUBSCRIPTION TYPE" Attribute in the list of
available fields. I want to add this new field to a Tab I created on

It looks like Workflow manager lets you delete a rule event if there are

When email activities are completed they still show in the users workplace
assigned list or in their other lists. are they going to stay there
forevery ?? or is there a way to remove the completed activities from the
list ? The only way i see to remove them is either assign it to someone
else or delete them, both of which are not the right solution.

Customising Views
I have a problem with the ability to customise views in CRM....why do they
not let you set a 'before x days/weeks/months' filter, so that you can chase
up companies and contacts that havent been contacted in the past?
Their system view, 'Companies Not contacted in the past 6 months' is
inadequate, as it doesn't filter based upon whether the contacts related to
that company have been contacted.
This is such a simple error, but it makes such a dfference!
If anyone has any suggestions - or can point out that I'm wrong and you can
easily fix this - then they'll be gladly received.

Hello,
I have installed CRM 3.0 Server and on the Exchange Server the CRM Exchange
eMail Router. I can send eMails to external adresses but the answer of this
mails is not imported into CRM.

we are just at the point of committing to CRM 3.0 but we have a few
questions which some of you may be able to answer.
1] We have various other in house sales systems. Ideally we would like
visibility of this data within CRM. How easy is it to do this.? Can CRM
view external SQL database data.? Biztalk has been mentioned and also the
'build in' CRM web services. If this is possible, can 'matching' (i.e. John
Smith at Microsoft in CRM / J Smith at Microsoft in another system) be done
to group these records.?
2] We'd also like to report on this external data. We will be using SRS.
How possible / easy is this.
3] Deduplication.! Can the data in CRM be deduped both at runtime
(record entry) or in batch. Is manipulating data directly in the tables
possible / supported by Microsoft.
4] We need to transfer data into CRM from our existing SQL based system.
Are there utilities within CRM to do this. If not, how is it done?

Add contact lookup to custom attribute
Hi,
I have added a custom attribute of nvarchar(100) and placed it on the the
opportunity entity. I want to store a contact fullname in this field using a
lookup to the contact records. After a bit of reading I got the impression I
could do this with a relationship mapping but it won't let me map the
fullname attribute from contacts to my new attribute. It says it must be the
same type and the target must be equal or longer and not mapped anywhere
else. Here is the problem. fullname is 160 characters long and the limit on
my new attribute is 100.
Am I on the right track here or is there something I am missing. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Rearranging fields after hidding them
With simple Javascript we are able to hide fields from a form. However,
the fields which are still shown on the form are not realligned. For
example we might have the following scenario:
Field 1
Field 2
Field 3
Field 2 should not be shown on certain conditions. So, in the onLoad()
event of the form we hide this field. This will result in the
following:
Field 1
Field 3
With an empty space between Field 1 and Field 3.
Is there a way to bypass this issue ?

CRM should let you change a product's unit group
It is impossible to change a product's unit group once a product has been
created.As a result, if you don't get this aspect of your system configured
correctly at the start, it is very very hard to correct it down the road. I
realize that the unit group permeates the entire database schema, but it
should still be possible to change it without deleting the product
altogether. Deleting the product and re-adding it is not usually an
acceptable option for a mission critical system that has been in use for a
few years. Hopefully you can find a way to let us change the unit group in

Hi,
Would anyone know how to insert a script, so it will insert a body message

Auto Escalation Help... Looping
I work for an IT company... I got the job of CRM... im trying to creat a
ticket system for our in house techs. I was trying to creat a workflow set
uup that would email the tech when a new case was created under his account,
and then check to see if he responded within an hour and if not it would
repeat email him.

The first is Case.StatusReason = Open (case status is set to open by default)
then Exec: Is_Follow_Up_Time_Past (this checks if an hour has gone by since
the case was created and if so emails the <owner>) this also has a wait of 5

then if case is not open closes the workflow
at the end i call the rule agian just like the example
but within seconds after case creat i am getting 56 proccesses running and
my CRM service crashing

Display headings information like in Outlook
All my users are used to working with Outlook where they can easily customize
their foldr headings. This is very usefull when they look for an e-mail,
etc. However, in CRM's Activities for example, they have many e-mail
activities carring the same subject line. There is no way for them to know
which is what unless they open each and every e-mail. This is a major issue
for them and a pain in my side to divert their frustration...

Activity renaming
can one rename all the letter activity wordings of "letter" to booking?
I can get to 98% of all the fields but the Main menu remains "Letter"

Advanced Find Crashes
Does anyone know about this problem.
Go to advanced find for contacts. Add a condition on one of the contact
fields.
Add a filter for Parent Customer (Account), and add a filter on one of
it's fields.
Select the Parent Customer Row, and the other condition you first
added. Click Group Or.
IE crashes.

Appointment Activities
Our Sales department is experiencing difficulties using the Appointment
activity in CRM.
Sometimes the Appointment is scheduled and they include other CRM users on
things like Webexes or conference calls and the appointment does not populate
their outlook calendars.
How do we get the appointments to populate all internal users calendars, not
just the one who schedules it?
Also when we schedule a meeting request from within Outlook, it doesn't have
a Track in CRM button.

Having account inherit child entity of lead upon conversion
Hi All,
I am new to this group so forgive me if this is an easy one. I am
creating a custom entity on the lead and when we convert the lead to
the account, I want the newly created account to inherit that entity
and its contents where it was related to that specific lead.
Example:
Lead: John Smith has the custom entity 'services' related to him.
There are 3 records of services related to Johm, i.e. Phone, DSL,
Satellite.
When I convert John to an account, i want John's account to have the
three services in their exact form related to the account.
I also need to come up with some way to 'remove' the services entity
from John Smith the lead, or disable them, so that there are no
confusing duplications.

Is it possible to capture a customers signature to accept terms of service or
to sign-off on finished repairs and have it import from the signature pad
into CRM?
I have a client who needs to do the same thing - they are running CRM Mobile
Express on their PDA's and would like to capture a customer signature.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
