    - Install issues Did a first install, but 'step 11' did not warn to write down the URL to attempt to bring up CRM. Where in the installation can I find the URL?????? This is not SBS so localhost:5555 does not help. I don't think we had any users set up in the DC when CRM was installed onto some test servers. There is an OU setup. Can this be an issue? Is there a default admin logon anyway? When attempting to run registration, I get: SQL Server does not exist or access denied. by the way, will running registration on a test server create issue for us when using the same license for production? When attempting to run the Deploymet Manager, I get the error that (MSSQL$CRM) is not running. I don't even see it listed in services. Environment. Virtual Server running both SQL and MSCRM... seperate Virtual Servers for Exchange and DC. The big question...     - Cannot find the specified Microsoft Exchange Server This is the error we get upon the final install checklist. ? What can cause this? Our Network Admin is pretty confident that all of his settings are fine. We can see the Exchanger Server in the domain. What are we missing? There are no users set up yet on this test Eschange server, but there is a OU setup on the Domain...but no specific user there either.????? ?     - Problem with Authentication The CRM application was running smooth. But now I can't logging. It ask my credentials and than return a 401.1 error. I noticed from the posts that support for the Outlook Add-in for CRM is not there for Terminal Services so the Web Client is recommended. However in using the Web Client I can't find a way to compose an email and add an attachment? How is a sales person supposed to send a proposal to a client or any document as an attachment if he only has access to the Web Client?     - Going Offline - Propagating Customizations /XML not well-formed er When I try to take CRM offline from within Outlook I receive the error "The XML passed to the platform is not well-formed".     - Manual Workflow rule as a Subprocess I am having a problem with Manual rules as a called sub process. I have setup a simple rule on "Contacts" that will, when called, create a task and email to a specific person. When I setup the second rule as "Create" on Campaign Responses to call this the drop down window does not show the Manual rule, even through it is activated.     - Creating Events I see that I can reference from a form eg. crmForm.all.fieldname.DataValue However, can I reference directly from the database? I want to get values from the AccountExtensionBase table. On another note. Can I call a value from a field of a form that isn't active? I tried to reference a field from the account form to populate a field in the quote form, but failed miserably. Any suggestions on both of the above is appreciated!     - Getting a general Error when creating a new account... Hello, I am getting a general error "An error has occurred. For more information, contact your system administrator. " When creating an account. I only recieve this error when i put information in the "Account Name" field. I can fill out all information except Account Name.     - Distributing CRM activities I was wondering whether someone might be able to help me with the following; I currently set up the campaigns for the sales team and when I distribute the campaign activity I currently only have two options - 1. Owned by myself or 2. Distributed to the owner of the record. Due to employee changes in the past while many of the CRM records are owned by former employees and it takes too long to go through every record to change this. To this end I would like to be able to distribute campaign activities to another user who is neither the activity creator nor the owner of the record.     - Data control in CRM for business units Dear all, We currently have a large scale CRM deployment in the offing, but we need to be prepared for how data, fields, etc can be segregated between Business Units - if indeed this is possible - although I did read somewhere previously that this was a possible way of deployment - clearly, there are default data fields, views, data, etc were site-wide, but there were also business-unit wide ones too that could be created and controlled??? We have a few Business Units that will share the single CRM deployment/installation. The ethos was that those in Business Unit 'A' had full control over their own data, and that if Business Unit 'B' wanted, say only read access to their data, or full access to it, then you needed to control both security and user roles to handle this, as well as more complex publishing roles. But, it seems to me, that as one Business Unit administrator has already added plenty of data - but another business unit can still see all of this - does this mean that the data is sitting at a site level, or only common to that Business Unit - and can this be seperated - i.e. certain data is the ownership of that Business Unit only, or both, or that only views/security roles control the accessibility of site-level held data to other Business Units - I hope I am being clear here??? We need to be fairly sure upfront how data is stored - whether everything is site-wide, or it can be made business unit-wide, because that will clearly affect how stuff is stored, how business units wish to maintain their own very specific areas and control over certain data, and how thats accessed by others. This means: +31 in front and the first zero deleted. Our existing records use the format +31(0)24 1234567 I need a JScript-format for transferring this to +31241234567 too. This means: The (0) deleted, even as the space between the 4 and the 1. Here's a little difficulty: We also have formats like +31(0)486 123456. (The space one position further). This one has to be converted to +31486123456. If possible, the JScript must contain a formula to detect this two possibillities.     - Deactivate custom entity (State vs Status) Hello everyone, I seem to be running into a problem. I crated a custom entity. I changed the values of the statuscode to "Canceled" and "Ended" for the inactive state. Logically I expected the CRM to ask me which value I want when I deactivate my custom entity. The same way cases work. It does not. It deactivates my entity and selects the first value in the list (in my case "Canceled"). Has anyone had this problem ? Am I missing something ? Is this a known issue, is there a workaround or a hotfix, anything I can do or use ? Thank you in advance, Dan .     - Outlook 2003/CRM 3.0 Error Hi, I've just finished installing our first test CRM 3.0 server. This is a clean Windows Server 2003 Sp1 build, with SQL Server 2005, and CRM 3.0. Set up went ok, no problems. I've created a DNS entry of crm.domain.com pointing to the IP of the server. And I can access the CRM pages using IE via http://crm.domain.com However after installing the CRM laptop client (haven't tried the desktop client yet) on my laptop, and restarting, I receiving the following error message when I open Outlook: "There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft CRM server. the server might be unavailable. Try again later." I have tried some of the solutions posted by other users who have had this problem, such as: 1. uninstalling the Outlook client and finding and deleting the MSCRM.PST file <-file didn't exist 2. check that the name you have registered with the Outlook client for the server is the same name that returns if you do a nslookup for the server from the client machine. <- How do you change the registered name? Not sure where to look! 3. suggestion on enabling both Kerberos and NTLM authentication found at http://www.customereffective.com/interior.asp?n=7&p=0&s=7&x=14 Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.     - Price Lists dont work as intended I feel the concept of Price Lists does not work as intended. To test this, I did following. Created 3 products in Product Catalog Product 1 List Price $100 Product 2 List Price $100 Product 3 List Price $100 Created two Price lists Price List A Contains all three products in Price List items Product 1 Percent of list, 100% Product 2 Percent of list, 100% Product 3 Percent of list, 100% Price List B Contains only one product in Price List items Product 1 Percent of list, 50% In the Opportunity, When Price List selected = Price List B I can add the products 2 and 3 (It takes the pricing rules from Price List A). I think this is wrong. When Price List B is selected, the Opportunity Product should not even show Products 2 and 3 as they are not in the Price List If I remove the price list Item from Price List B (Contains no price list items), and in opportunity, if I specify Price list B, the product pricing occurs according to Price List A. I also noticed that in the product, the default Price List is set to Price List A. If I remove the default Price list for each Product, then the product is not shown at all in Opportunity Product lookup no matter what Price list I select. This means that a product MUST be added to at least one Price List, and at least one of the price lists MUST be set as default Price List for the product to appear in the Opportunity-Product lookup. What I was expecting is that if I select Price list B, the lookup should show only those products in Price list B. If I select Price List A, lookup should show only those products in Price List A. However, that doesnâ??t seem to be happening.     - Filtered Views Hi: I'm wanting to pull back contact data into a web application from CRM using the FilteredContact view. All connectivity to date has been done via CrmService, which allows me to connect using a NetworkCredential (member of PrivUserGroup ) and then impersonate a CRM as the CallerId. Now using a view I need to connect to the database directly and use windows authentication, but I want to authenticate to the database using a specific CRM user, not related to the current authenticated user. How do I do this?? The only 2 sql conection methods I know are using none trusted and SSPI ?? The reason in the first place for using filtered views was to provide a % like % search criteria that I couldn't do via ConditionExpression (i.e where firstname LIKE %bill%) , I couldn't find a way to wildcard the search term. Any help would be much appreciated either with the sql login problem or help on being able to use a wildcard in the ConditionExpression.     - Workflow Rule Hi We would like to create an automated task that is triggered once a lead is reassigned by the sales manager to a sales person. This task will inform the sales person to contact the lead and to introduce himself. If the task is not completed within 24 hours, we would also like an automated email to be sent to the sales manager to inform him that the task has not been completed within the last 24 hours. We are familiar with the workflow manager and we can set up automated tasks however the following rule is beyond our scope. How do we set up the task to trigger on reassignment? And how do we use the conditions to set up the automated email. We would appreciate an example or any assistance.     - Case Ownership We have our service department monitoring several Queues for Cases that are created. We have our engineers accept the case from the queue and the ownerships changes to them and moves the status of the case to the engineers queue in progress. This function works great. Sometimes the engineer can not finish the Case so they have move the case back into the queue and enter there time into a tasks on that case and save it. Now this is where the problem starts. When another engineer accepts that case and starts to work on it it moves the current engineer to the ownership of the case and ALSO takes ownership of all the tasks that the other engineers have already completed on that case. This really throws off our Billing procedure and also reporting on what our engineers have done for the day. Is this by design or do I have problem with my CRM. If this is by design does anyone else have a better soltuion for moving ownership of cases to different Users in CRM and then keep the completed task to the orginal Users that completed those task. This can be achieved quite simply by moving the notes section to the main form but the problem with this approach is that the form automatically scrolls to the notes section when you open the form which is a bit of an inconvenience. The other alternative is to add a custom field that we can populate with a value if notes are attached to the form to indicate that there are notes on the notes tab. The problem with this is that I could not figure out what the jscript that is required in order to test whether there are notes on the form (as the notes control is really an I-Frame). Any idea how this can be achieved? Either having a jscript that can counteract the scrolling which occurs when the notes is added to the first tab OR a way to test whether notes have been added to the entity will be an acceptable solution.     - Data Migration - Multiple sources Just wondering about best practices for my situation. Multiple users using Outlook for email...some contact data. Some users using secondary systems (Saleslogix, Excell) for additional contact info. What would be the best practice for merging all of this data together into a single MSCRM system? Challenges: clarifying record ownership when more than 1 has this record in their system. Some systems have Account/Contact relationships established (SLX) already. After having users cleanse their data as best they can, how should we approach this? We can use Scribe to pull the SLX data retaining the Account/contact relationship...then pull in the outlook data (with emails) related to the SLX contacts, and Merge them individually into SLX Is it an option to actually use Scribe to pull the Outlook data into SLX, use its merge feature to marry the contacts, and then pull it into MSCRM after that?..thus the users would not have to manually merge the records in MSCRM. As for other primarily outlook users, it seems like the best way would be to pull that data into MSCRM (either with scribe or an MSCRM tool) as LEADS, and let the users create Accounts where appropriate. (fortunately, this side of the business does not have too many contacts to manage). Any thoughts on the above?...Better ways or tools to do this?     - Security account privileges Hi, I have a CRM installation with two crm servers on a NLB configuration, and a third server as SQL/Reporting. In the installation process we decided to create a specific domain account for the security (service) account, namely crmservices. At this moment I am having very strange crm behaviour, cause, for example: for some CRM users there is an error related to privileges on the Report Server. Another error is that Workflow Manager sends an error indicanting it is bad configured (when I try to open this tool) and so on. None of these errors ocurred on the previous Lab. So my theory is that MAYBE this service account (a "single" domain account) has suffered from some specific GPO's or maybe is needing more privileges. Any clue friends? Best regards, Hugo.     - Deployment manager can't see other domains and users Hi, I have the following problem: the deployment manager utility can't see users in other domain. The crm installation is in a AD domain that trust in another domain. My problem is that cant' see and cant add any user from the other domain. Actually the AD account in the crm server is a domain admin account. Any suggestions in order to get the users from the other domain? I tried to create a user from the other doain in the crm server, but when this user tries to use the deployment manager tool, it olnly sees the licencing info but not the server and users folders.     - Any way to enforce security with Outlook Sync? I have found that I can synchronize data to an Outlook user that the user does not have rights to when online. This is a HUGE security hole, and I was hoping that there was a patch or some way to force the Outlook synchronization rules to be filtered properly by the CRM security model. In our configuration all accounts are seen by all people, and I think that is where this breaks. The default "My contacts" rule syncs all contacts with a parent that I have downloaded or that I own. Unfortunately we have different BU's and we do not want people to be able to synchronize another BU's contacts. Our security roles are set up to not let this happen, but outlook is ignoring this. When i select import customizations on the development environment i get an error saying " The attribute map is invalid. The selected attributes should be of the same type. It is a very often overlooked but rather critical issue that any SRS report created to display an activity report will not be able to translate an email activity's description correctly. The html formatting tags are huge and numerous and can easily cause the character count in the description attribute to exceed limits (nothing there to stop the forced overage) and even potentially cause the SRS Report engine to error out with rowsize issues.
