In trying to install the latest release for CRM 3.0 on Vista, I get the
following error on Install Required Components:

CRM in Outlook - gray icons, error window
Hello all
After successfully installing CRM Server, I went ahead and installed the
client for Outlook on my machine. Everything was fine, but when I opened
Outlook I got an error (which seems to be very popular): An error occurred
loading Microsoft CRM functionality. Try restarting Microsoft Outlook.
Contact your system administrator if errors persist.
I have read many posts providing possible solutions but none have worked for
me. It could be that my problem is different from others', but it could also
be a possibility that I did something wrong when trying out the solutions.

Fun with SQL and CRM Help needed
Ok. I've been tasked with setting the "Address Name" for every contact
equal to the name of the parent company.
I know I can write an SQL query to do this, I just can't figure out
where the relationship is between contacts accounts and the
customeraddressbase table. So, heres what I need to do:
Open Contact, Get Contacts Parent Customer Name, Put Parent Customer
Name into Address Name for the contacts main address.
The database is relatively new, we just finished a very botched import
from ACT! not to long ago. this is the latest "Fix" that I've been
asked to work on.
I can see that the Address is stored in "CustomerAddressBase" but I
don't know how it is linked to the ContactBase or AccountBase tables.
Any ideas?

Need to create an assembly call for Workflow Activity Creation
We're creating an Activity via a Manual Workflow on the Order. When creating
an Activity from that starting point, you only have access to fill a handful
of fields (Assign To, Type, Subject, Description, Priority, and Due Date).
We need the Activity that's created from this starting point to be able to
fill some customized fields that we have on the Task. The only way we
figured out that we might be able to accomplish this is by adding an assembly
call to the Worfklow. I'm not familiar with coding an assembly callout for
CRM in .NET. Does anyone know what resources I could use to figure out how
to write this code? Any books or websites that you would recommend? Maybe

Print views from multiple entities and Case lacking Spare-part/pro
Hello,
Just starting to look at our service process and how we can get CRM to
supply us with the required output. So far I found a few obstacles..
1) The print view is only containing data from the Case entity. I need data,
such as contact details to be included as well. How can I get data from
multiple entities in this print template?
2) There is no link between a Case and a Product list (or "Sparepart" list).
Is there an easy way to attach the Product list we will use for quote
creation?
3) Is there a way to easy create a Quote from a Case (similar to Quote to
Order), eg prepopulating the quote with customer data etc?

Adding Account Name to Quotes Queue
I need to make a modification to the Quotes entity default queue in
CRM 3.0 to include the Account entity's name property as a column. Our
quotes get assigned to a Contact which is in turn assigned to an
Account. Is there a way to include the Account name as a column for a
Quotes queue? Or does this need to be done programmatically? And if
so, does anyone have any good examples out there on how to do this?

System Settings will not stick
When I go to Settings/Organization Setting/System Settings and make any
changes in any of the tabs; General, Calendar, E-Mail Tracking, etc., and
click OK, the settings do not remain and revert back to how they were
originally.
Changes just wonâ??t stick.
This seems to be the only srea that I cannot make changes.
Any suggestions?

Remote connection problem with dynamic spreadsheets
I am having a problem updating a dynamic spreadsheet. When I am off-site, I
can get the SQL reports to load without any problem - using a saved network
password - when I am not on vpn.
When I try to get a dynamic spreadsheet to update, I get Connection Failed
error, regardless of whether I am on vpn or not.
Any thoughts on how to correct this?

CRM and SQL RS authentication problem
Ok, here is the scenario.
I have to a physical machine where SQL Server 2005 and Reporting Services is
installed.
On the other virtual machine, I have MS CRM application.
Both physical (DBSQLSRV) and virtual machines (DBSRVCRM) are in the same
domain.
I installed CRM 3.0 as domain admin and everything goes well except when
accessing CRM reports in Internet Explorer from the user's workstation. When
I opened the virtual machine where CRM is installed, everything works well,
even the reports. But, when I access CRM in user's workstation using IE, the
reports cannot be access and displays an error.
When I enabled the debugging on the CRM server, I discovered that the error
is about unathorized access to RS.
I did follow the additional instructions about installing CRM and SQL/RS on
different machines, but still the error occurs. I also enabled trust
delegation on the middle-server, which CRM, but still error occurs.

Outlook CRM desktop client can't create personal stores
Hi,
I'm trying to install the Outlook CRM desktop client on Outlook 2003 SP2 on
a Windows 2003 R2 SP2 Terminal server , which is also hosting an Exchange
Server 2003 installation and is a domain controller. I know, bad practice,
not supported, but the machine is just serving for about 8 users. The CRM
server is on an other server.
I installed the client succesfull on some other machines, including terminal
servers, using the same user account. The user is domain admin.

- downloading the most recent outlook crm client
- installing all updates I could find
- creating a new administrator account to clear out profiles

Please help me out in the following scenario.
1. We have problem in exporting Marketing List data to excel.Dynamic Pivot
table or Direct both the options are failed to export the data.
It throws an exception like "SQL Server Connection failed/access denied" and
when i try to use SQL Authentication , the same error continues.
Note: the Client Machine is in the same domain. Windows authentication works
perfectly when i test it in DSN Creation .
And If we need to work in the Machine which is in the workgroup
instead of Domain, Can we able to export the data?

Poke a Hole in this Security Model!
I think I have a pretty good security design, but wanted a second opinion
:). The following Security model works â?? however, I have to lock the user
out of Excel downloads and Mail merges so that the user canâ??t download the
companyâ??s entire contact list. Am I overlooking something that would allow
users to own individual Accounts and Contact, yet preclude others from seeing
opportunities attached to contacts they own?
Background Assumptions
1 â?? Some sales reps are organized Geographically â?? others are organized
Functionally (by industry).
2 â?? Sales Reps from different divisions of the company will call on the same
Account and Contact.
3 â?? All Accounts and Contacts will be owned at the corporate level so any
sales rep can see and attach their opportunity to the contact
4 â?? Sales Reps can only view others Opportunities IF they are in the SAME
business unit. If a rep is in a different business unit, the rep should NOT
be able to see another business unitâ??s opportunities.
5 â?? If we were to allow individual sales repâ??s to own contacts, then, they
could see ALL attached opportunities to that contact regardless of the
opportunityâ??s ownerâ??s business unit (which would violate requirement #4
above).

by a single user)

Page Cannot Be Displayed....
I have 2 clients that have intermittent loss of access to CRM 3.0 via the
web browser. One is running XP, the other Win 2000. I have applied all
patches and updates to Windows, Office, CRM and CRM Client, everything.
There are times it will work one minute and not the next, and sometimes it
will work for a day or 2. The Browser says Page Cannot be Displayed.
Trying to access CRM through Outlook give an error saying something about an
Authentication error. (I don't have the exact error message at this time).
All other clients on the network are having no issues with CRM via the web
browser or Outlook.
Any ideas?? I'm completely stumped on this one.

Querry Builder: No Attributes
We have recently deleted some attributes from within our Account screen and
have added some additional ones. Now when we go to Relationships and click on
Mappings between our Account and Lead Enities we get a "Querry Builder: No
Attributes". Has anyone seen this and how do we work around this? I know
that there is a Rollup 2 that is design to prevent this, but that doesn't
help know. This is for CRM 3.0.

Is there an easy way to attach a word, excel or PP file to an account or
contact in CRM 3.0? I am looking for somethng like the "send to" command in

All my Product CDF import records are being rejected - why?
I have carefully followed the CDF documentation regarding the mandatory
fields yet all my products in the CDF are being rejected.
The listed mandatory fields are simply:
Product ID (int)
ProductName (char)
ProductNumber (char)
I am also setting the StatusCodeName and StateCodeName fields to 'Active'
I wonder whether in fact other fields are required - eg. Unit Group?

We need to create a list of tasks to be completed under a certain
entity within a form. This is not a problem, I can create new fields
in check box form:
Take pictures [ ]
Check Trailer Number [ ]

...not a problem. But what we need to do is have only the first one
in the list enabled, and the rest of the list either grayed out or
invisible until the first one is checked, and so on.

Adding Notes
Is there a way to add the option to add an Associated Entities "Notes" to an
exsisting Entity. This Entity was a custom Entity that i created, and i
forgot to check the Notes checkbox, and now it grayed out. Even if i have to
do it manually through SQL i cant delete the Entity and start over, it not an
option.

CRM speed sometimes very slow
Hi,
were using CRM 3.0 in our company. Its installed on a Windows 2000 SP4
server with an Athlon XP 2000+ and 2 Gigs of Ram. We have only 2
people using CRM, so the server shouldnt be that busy ;) ...
In most cases our CRM runs very smooth, page loading times don't
exceed 1 second. But sometimes, it takes about 30 seconds or longer to
open a page, no matter what page you click.
I have done a lot of investigation myself. The caching tool is already
installed, i have raised the maximum HTTP-connections to 10 and i have
modified the stage.js so that HTTP headers exire immediately.
What else can i do? Maybe its the SQL server causing those slowdowns?

Linking Accounts and Contacts during Import
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to link accounts and contacts when they
are being imported into CRM?
My scenario is as follows:
- I have a list of contacts who all work for Account ABC
- Account ABC has one primary contact
I wish to import the account details for Account ABC and all of the contact
records.
I then would like all of my contacts to have Account ABC displayed in the
Parent Account field of their contact record. I would also like all of the
contacts to be listed in the Contacts section of Account ABC and for the
Primary contact field to be populated on the Account ABC record.
I understand that this can't be completed using the Bulk Import, and I have
used the GUID export method to bring in the primary contact on the account
record, or to bring in the parent account field on the contact record.
However, I can't see how to populate both the primary contact field and the
parent customer field.
Would the Data Migration Framework or a third party tool (Scribe?) be able
to achieve this for me?

i ave a dropdown field on the first tab. I use setfocus so that it selects a
different field to stop users scrolling down and changing the selection on
the load event.
Problem
When a user changes tab and come back to the origional tab the setfocus
doesnt run as the form is already loaded. How do you get around this?

Problem installing CRM wiht SQL Reports SP2 SharePoint integrated
Hi
I'm having trouble installing MS CRM 3.0 with SQL Server SP2 in SharePoint
integrated mode. I get the following error message and the install will go
no further. Is there a patch or a way round this problem.

Managing Products
Hi group,
when I go to the Products in Microsoft CRM -> Sales area in Outlook, I can
only see products, but can't manage them.
I know I can go to http://crmserver:5555 and manage products from there, but
for that I need my Outlook to be closed.
Any way to make it working from Outlook client?
The cleint is somehow "tired" of closing and launching Outlook again and
again.

Unable to start dicount list...in CRM 3.0
I am new to MSCRM. I am currently running the trial version and have
frustrated in my inability to enter discount list. I followed the
instruction in CRM help and the Dummies book to the letter. My problem is
that the 'New' button is not available to me to click as stated in the
instructions.
This is what I did:
[In the Navigation Pane], I Click Settings
[In the Product Catalog window] I click Discount List.
[In the Discount Lists window's toolbar] the New button is missing.
Am I in the wrong place?
Did I missed any step?
Your help will be highly appreciated.

Security Role setting for "Change Stage" and "Apply rule"
Hello,
I have following problem: I have a custom role, that differs in some
positions from the standard "sales representative" role. The CRM users, that
are in this custom role only, have not the menu entries "Change Stage" and
"Apply rule" in their own opportunity, but t he administrator can see them.
Does anybody knows, which settings in the security role definition enables
the user access to the changing stage of the workflow process?

Price List - Pricing methods
Hi group,
my question is about Pricing methods in Price List Item entity.
I clearly understand the purpose of the field itself, but options "Precent
Markup..." and "Percent Margin..." mislead me.
I tried playing around with it and I perfectly understand what the "Percent
Markup..." option does (please, correct me if I am wrong: resulting price =
price + % of the price), but it's the "Percent Margin..." which I don't
understand.
Another not understandable thing is that I can use only values from 0,00 to
99,99 for the margin percentage.
This could be more linguistic problem since English is not my mother-toungh,
but translation I get from various dictionaries of words "margin" and
"markup" mean exactly the same in my mother-toungh (Russian). Reading CRM
Help doesn't really help here, cause the description of the options are
totally equal to me.
So... if you are in a mood to explain this to me I would be very much
obliged :)
