    - CRM4 Outlook failed to syn with service activity Hi, Anyone knows if there is any hotfix for Outlook Calendar fails to syn with CRM? When I create a CRM4 Service Activity, I have the Resources filled with 1 user record. The resource is the same as the owner. Later, we remove the owner from the resource and add another user to the resource field. Sync Outlook, the original appointment is still sitting in Outlook Calendar! In theory, the original appointment (for the owner) should be disappeared and a new appointment should be sync to the new "resource" Outlook calendar! Any help with be appreciated.     - Track in CRM - unreliable with many errors Hi all I'm getting lots errors when trying to "track in CRM" from outlook client. I'm using office 2007 (with all the latest patches). The errors seem related to attachments, but it doesn't seem to be file size - although it could be 9are there any restriction on attachment file size?). Sometimes it seems the problem is when I have two or more files with the same extension?? again not sure. The errors i get are (btw, it very annoying that we can't cut & paste error messages) 1. There is a problem communicating with the MS Dynmaics CRM server. The server may be unavailable.......try again....... a. If I'm importing 10 emails, I might get this on one, but he rest work b. If I try it again on the one email it still doesn't work - same error c. yes, my server is available d. the email has 8 attachments, 3 * .pdf, 1 *.one, 2 * pptx, 2* .doc (some large ones -> 2mb) e. This error appears to happens with large file attachments f. my rules are - if I can send an email (regardless of size or number of attachments) then I should be able to track it in CRM - no execptions 2. An error occured promoting this item to MS Dynamics CRM a. I have full permissions on everything b. The email has 2 attachments of the same extension (file size is small) c. This error appears to happen when the file extension is the same I have many emails that I get these errors on and typically they fall into one of the 2 types mentioned above and the characteristics of each email is similair for the error type. any help appreciated...     - Time Stamp Error on Notes Hi all, When adding notes to contacts / opportunities etc the automatic time / date stamp is incorrect. The location is New Zealand with GMT +12. The windows OS clock is correct but when a note is added the time is recorded as GMT +0. How can I change this in MS CRM.     - Quick Campaign Queue e-mail sends from user Hi, We are using CRM v4.0 using the e-mail router in a Lotus Notes shop. Quick Campaign Scenario. Send out an e-mail, select to send it our on behalf of a queue. The e-mail is sent out, however, it sends it on behalf of the user's e-mail, and does not use the queue e-mail address.     - Contacts data is displayed as "x" This issue only occurs with the Outlook client. When a user opens a Contact record, the data is replaced with an "X". When you close the record, it asks if you want to save the changes, and we click NO so the X's do not replace the data. It happens with all Contact records.     - Customized Help Content If you have multiple organizations on the same deployment, how can you customize the help content for each organization. The reason that I would want to do this is that each organization might have a different layout on the forms and different fields that the users are supposed to track. The help files are all stored as phyical files on the server so I am not sure how to make them organization specific.     - Can not edit duplication rule We are using CRM 4.0. I am trying to edit a current Duplication rule but the system will not allow it. When I attempt to make changes and save or when I try and unpublish the rule, the system says "The duplicate detection rule is currently being used and can not be updated or deleted".     - workaround for text field advanced find for greater than and less Does anyone have a good suggestion for working around the limitation of Advanced Finds that will not do a Greater than and Less than of a text field? We created a field to track a person's birth day, month and year as a varchar. If we went with int, the field will be formatted with a comma, which just looks bad on years. We took this approach so it would be easier to find all July birthdates. Now we need a list of everyone between 25 and 50. Are we forced to use a 25 row advanced find, grouped with or?     - Send mail to secondary email address Hello, Is it possible to send an email to the secondary email address of a CRM contact? If a customer wants a email from us to his business and private mail address, we do not want to create two contacts for that. Instead we would like to enter the private as secondary email address (3 mail fields are available out of the box) and put that in the CC. The problem is, that the mailaddres is "parsed" to the contact, so the mail gets to the primary again.     - Update probability when opportunity closes 4.0: When user closes opportunity (won/lost) I would like to change the probablity to 100/0, respectively. This can be done in a workflow but that gives me other problems, e.g. opportunity now is changed by owner of workflow. In JS I can catch the close event in OnSave (event.Mode==5). However, I cannot find the new values of statecode and statuscode, so I do not know if the user closed the opportunity as won or lost.     - Service was unable to process request What I want to do is just execute the bulkdeleterequest. I created an external app that connects to the mscrm database and executes the request. In the app I perform 2 request. First I do the WhoAmI request, then the Bulkdelete Request. This all works fine on my development site and domain. I release the app to the customer and it errors on the bulkdelete request. The whoamI returns the correct value. The error I get is "Service was unable to process request." There are no Inner Exceptions, I checked. Both Systems also has the same customization and they are released. Below is the exception. Could this is a security issue? What is needed?     - CRM 3.0 Client install problem....Help I having an issue installing a CRM 3.0 client for Outlook on a Windows XP laptop. In the System Requirements check of the install, it says that "Setup has detected a pending computer restart. Skipping the restart might cause errors during Setup." The Next button is grayed out. I have restarted the computer a few times and this error keeps coming back. Some back ground info....this is not the first install. The client was previously installed and never worked correctly. I unistalled it, including the MSDE, and am now trying to reinstall. The MSDE installed ok and I keep getting hung up at this spot. This is on XP SP2. My next step is to install SP3 and try again.     - Does e-mail router automatically set regarding? Hi, I succefully installed the e-mail router on our CRM system. I have set the e-mail option to track e-mails from accounts, contacts and lead. Now when I receive an e-mail from a known contact it is imported in CRM but not linked to the contact. So the "Regarding" field is not set. Is this correct or did I miss some configuration option?     - Active Directory Problem - Can't Login to CRM 4.0 Hi Everyone, Hopefully you can help me out a bit here. Long story short, we had a failure last week that we were unable to recover Active Directory from. As such, we've had to rebuild AD from scratch - now the domain name and all user accounts are recreated and identical to the previous setup. However, I can no longer access CRM. I assume CRM 4.0 is authenticating on, not only AD membership, but based on an AD GUID of some sort - which I can't replicate. How can I get back in to re-load my users?     - Secure Call Center Tracking I'm looking to use MS CRM to track our members and what contacts we have with them. One of our departments operates a call center for Health Insurance question. They often deal with HIPAA covered info. I was hoping to add a checkbox labeled "secure", that if checked, restricts all access to just this particular group. Is this possible? Is there a better way? Should I just create a custom entity for call tracking and restrict access to that entity to just their team? Thanks!     - Phone Activity Form My question is regarding viewing phone call activities from the activities entity created from a quick campaign for Leads. I am only able to view the regarding (which is the campaign name) and recipient (which is the full name of the Lead) field, on leads we often only know the company name and not a first or last name. So viewing the resulting phone activities created from the quick campaign have to be opened up then click again to open up the Lead form to view the company name if there is no first or last name, very time consuming. When I do an advanced find and chose edit columns/add columns/change record type to â??Regarding (Lead)â?? and check Company Name nothing appears in the table view in the Company Name even though there is a company name on the Lead form. I am not having luck with this view is there a way to have an either or statement to populate with the company name if there is no first/last name on the Lead form?     - Security issue - is it by design? Hi all, User (User 1) have roles which allows to write to activity entity in his business unit. He has asigned opportunity. Administrator (user from different business unit) manually creates task activity and relates to opportunity. If user 1 opens task, the task opens in readonly form - this is ok, like said in manual. Administrator creates workflow - when opportunity field is modified, workflow creates new task. User 1 modifies the field and tas is created. The owner of the task is Administrator, but the User 1 can open and modify the task. Why? How to avoid this situation with security roles?     - money field on a Case problem On 2 installations I'm getting the following error on a newly added money field: ERROR: A currency is required if a value exists in a money field. I'm looking to setup 5 individual business units to represent 5 different
states of our operation.

In most cases, BU security will be fine to restrict people to their own
state, but how can I have 1 user (who can only belong to one BU) have access
to 2 BU's via security?

I'd prefer not to create another BU that was a parent to the 2 state BU's in
question.

if you don't want to create a parent BU, then your only option is to have
the users from the BU that this user doesn't belong to share all their
records with the user.
