Add random objects to view
Is it possible in any way, with any tool (that means at all...), to
add random object to a main view?
It would have been nice to select any object and add this to "My

Any clues or comments?

Changing Manager for a User
In the User Guide for version 1.2 it says on page 15:
============================================================================
If you add users according to the managers they report to, it will be easy
to move them from one group to another by simply changing the name of the
manager they report to. Changing the manager's name on a user profile
disassociates the relationship with the current manager, creates an
association with the new manager, and automatically moves the user into the
new manager's business unit.
============================================================================
I have not been able to repeat this behavior. The Business Unit does not
change for the user when I change Manager (Menu: Actions - Change Manager).
I need to change the Business Unit manually.
Am I doing anything wrong? Is there special setup requirements needed to get
this to work?
I also noticed that the roles are deleted when the Business Unit changes. Is
this intended behavior, or is it a bug?
Any help or guidance is most appreciated

Escalation and background Workflows
Does MSCRM have an escalation feature? Is there a way to
make workflows run in the background without user
intervention? For example, a case not meeting its target

notify both parties?

A wishlist... any ideas??
I have some things that I would like CRM to do. Does anyone have any ideas
as to how they can be achieved?
1: When I add a filter to a report, there seems to be no way of saving that
filter so each time I go in, I have to reenter the fields and values. Is
there a way of saving this?
2: Can default share permissions be attached to records depending on who
created them? For example, user "A" creates a record and automatically users
"B" & "C" can share it. If "B" creates a record, only "C" has a share. Is it
possible to also have a generic default for shares if this is not possible?
3: When looking at an accounts or contacts list (ie not actually opened a
record), is it possible to have a right mouse click to go straight to an
activity for a record rather than opening it (one click only).

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to trigger a workflow when a

Scribe Migrate - CRM 2 CRM
I am planning to do a reinstall on our CRM server and have purchased Scribe
(didn't come in till JUST now), and was planning to do this over the
weekend. I have a test environment and want to try it here before I do this
on our production. However this isn't as simple as I thought.
I know, I know, read the manual, etc, etc etc. But its near critical that I
get this production reinstalled, and I'd rather not work straight through a
weekend just to learn this thing.
Anways, can anyone give me the basic overview of this? Does this take hours
just to create the migration setup? For some reason I had assumed it would
have some sort of wizard and witin minutes it would migrate.........*shrug*?
Do I have to manually assign each migration path for each table?! What
should I read first?
any help would be greatly appreciated.....

How do you fix Crystal after recovering CRM 1.0 ?
Note: We're upgrading hardware for our CRM production implementation. The
old hardware is being used as part of our backout plan - thus the reason for
using different names for the DB and App server
Problem:
I've restored the CRM 1.0 databases to the new DB server.
I've installed the CRM Application on a new App server
(The original DB and App servers are shutdown).
The CRM application works except for the Crystal Reporting function. On the
new App server, in checking the Crystal APS configuratino on the new app
server, it states that the APS belongs to the old app server. Now - what do
I have to do to get the APS registered to the new app server? (The old app
server will not be used again).

Ownership of an Activity
Problem: When you assign an activity (e.g. outgoing phone call)to
another user it appears in the actvity list of both the "owner" and
the "call initiator" (in this case, the person who is assinging the
activity).
A typical scenario: Telecanvasser owns a lead with an associated
activity to make a call. Telecanvasser assigns lead to a salesman.
Salesman now sees lead and has a task to call. Telecanvasser also
still has a task to call. Confusion reigns!
Has anyone any suggestions on how you could automatically change the
call initiator to be the same a the call owner when it is assigned?
You can do it manually of course but it adds an extra step in a
process I am trying to make as simple as possible.

HOWTO: Customizing CRM - include auto-number field?
Hello,
We would like to customize our CRM Opportunity form. We want to
include a OpportunityNumber field, which will be auto-generated when
the new opportunity is created, similar to auto-numbers for Contracts,

it?
I've looked at CRM Deployment Manager. It's possible to create a
simple custom Attribute for particular object. But I couldn't figure
out how to make it an auto-generated number, like SQLServer
Identity... Could I just modify OpportunityBase table in MSCRM
database? Do I need to change METABASE database too?.. Or should we
consider modifying Opportunity aspx page?..

Manual Update of Product Table
Hi would it be possible to create a trigger to add/lessen
a numeric field in the product table?
Here's the scenario I wanted, whenever I include a product
in ORDER MANAGEMENT, I need to update some fields in the
PRODUCT TABLE (ITEMONHAND), we need to make it appear
similar to a simple inventory system wherein the product
number (ItemOnHand) is updated whenever an order for a
product is created.
I tried exploring if WorkFlow Manager allows the update,
but among the objectas I tested, no MANUAL workflow could
UPDATE the Product Object.. I was planning to use a
trigger on a dummy field in the ORDER Object, so that once
it is changed, an SQL Trigger would go directly to the
PRODUCT Table and update the field of the corresponding
product.
Questions:
Can I do this scenario using only the CRM Customization
Tools?
If I use SQL Triggers, will this void any support? or will
this cause support issues?

support American and International English only.
Additional Microsoft CRM Enhancements
The Microsoft CRM 1.2 feature pack includes enhancements=20
across the Sales for Outlook=AE client; a redeployment tool=20

and reporting enhancements to drive best practices in=20

CRM Usage - Question

Yeah, I was looking at the IG for version 1. The IG for v1.2, that you are looking at, has the security role stuff further down, starting at page 355, it's entitled Appendix B, Security Role Tables. It looks to be the same info. (BTW, that's page 355 as the document is numbered in its footer. It is actually page 381 of 420 in Acrobat)

keep in mind that while the IG lists the tables sometimes it pays to
experiment as you can do things like disable menus with the security roles
etc. Also bear in mind these two points
1 - if you update security roles microsoft crm checks all records in the
system and also changes the modifiedon and modifiedby fields to you as the
admin
2 - because all records are examined a significant load is placed on your
sql server.
as always test your roles on a test crm server
