Joesph: The Implementation Guide (IG) on the CD with CRM has a bunch of charts starting on page 240 that define the privileges that each built-in user role has. Hope this helps

thanx for your suggestion... using IF.pdf ver 1.2 dated Oct 2003 here
page 240 is entitled Connecting Your Windows SBS to the Internet.... no
security role stuff.

is this wrong .pdf?
thanx, Joe

Yeah, I was looking at the IG for version 1. The IG for v1.2, that you are looking at, has the security role stuff further down, starting at page 355, it's entitled Appendix B, Security Role Tables. It looks to be the same info. (BTW, that's page 355 as the document is numbered in its footer. It is actually page 381 of 420 in Acrobat)

keep in mind that while the IG lists the tables sometimes it pays to
experiment as you can do things like disable menus with the security roles
etc. Also bear in mind these two points

1 - if you update security roles microsoft crm checks all records in the
system and also changes the modifiedon and modifiedby fields to you as the
admin
2 - because all records are examined a significant load is placed on your
sql server.

as always test your roles on a test crm server
