    - New task email notification We are mostly using CRM for customer cases. I need to create an e-mail template to send (ad hoc) to a user when a new task is created for them from inside a case. I want to include fields from the task and the case. I can obviously create one with details from the case, but it is possible to include task fields and to "send to task owner" on demand?     - Iframe product in Outlook client Hi I have a little problem. I have made a customization in CRM where I need to get to some data in the product from an saleslinie product. The way I do this is to have an Iframe and in the onchange event of the product i get the id for the product and use that to get the product data in an iframe. From here I get data from 3 new entities that is related to products, but I need to be able to change these and get the new data on the salesorder line. I change the data through lookup fields on the product and javascript put these values to values on the salesline. This works perfect in the browser but not in the outlook client. Here it's not possible to change the data in the product, they are greyed out. My idea is that this is because you can't edit products in the Outlook client it somehow sees this and disallow change. But it is in an Iframe, is there anyway to get this to work from the Outlook client. Maybe setting something so that it doesn't think it is called from Outlook ?     - CRM 3.0 KB927751 Update Roll Up Install Problem Hi, I'm running CRM 3.0 Small Business edition on Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 with SQL 2005. When I try to install the update roll up (KB927751) It unpack the files, but before the instalation starts, it comes up with an Installation Error saying: "Setup failed to update the database. The installation of this update has stopped." Does anybody have any clues as to what might be causing this? The rest of the CRM appears to work fine.     - Campaign / Marketing List Problems I have a couple of issues around my Campaigns / Marketing Lists and hoped someone may be able to help. N.B. I am currently using Scribe for data migration 1] I can migrate Campaign data and also Marketing List data but I cannot relate the two to each other as Scribe does not expose the CampaignItemBase or CampaignActivityItemBase entities. I do not believe this would be possible using the DMF either. I also need access to these entities to add products to Campaigns. Any suggestions? 2] I need to migrate in excess of 6 million Marketing List Members. Scribe will take c.4 weeks of processing time to do this. If I use code and access the web service I estimate I can reduce this slightly but not greatly. This seems like a ridiculous amount of time for that amount of data?     - Update of the field "Last Modified On" As far as I remember, in MSCRM 1.2 when you change the access level of a role privilege in an entity (i.e. account, case, etc), the system updates the field "Last Modified On" for all records of this entity with the current date. This is very serious problem in case you use this field for reporting issues. Do you have any idea whether this do happen in MSCRM 1.2 and if so, has this issue been resolved in version 3.0 ???     - CRM 3.0 bug sending to SMTP? When I send email from the outlook client, there are absolutely no problems. However, when I send an email from the web interface, I get an error stating "Invalid Association" and "The request association is not valid." whenever the contents of the email contain a carriage return or formatted text (such as coloring). I have read the knowledge base article that associates this error with SMTP settings and authentication, however the same mail message will be processed if I remove the carriage return.     - Reporting Services Error Hi, I created a report that pulls info from the ContractExtensionBase table, ContractBase, and ContractDetailBase table. The report runs fine under the System Admin Account however every other user is unable to run it. The error i get is: "An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Query exection failed for data set 'CRM'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand) Select permission denied on object...." I tried playing around with the permissions on other roles but still get the same error. I have created reports before and never had this problem. Anyone have a similar problem?     - after forwarding a promoted e-mail, Outlook crashes This is with CRM 3.0, and a fully patched xp sp2 client using Office 2003 sp2, again fully patched. After a sent item is promoted to CRM, if I try to forward that promoted item from my sent items folder, Outlook crashes. I have been able to replicate this problem on several different clients. The application log on the clients get the following: Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.8118.0, stamp 456628bf, faulting module outllib.dll, version 11.0.8118.0, stamp 4566283d, debug? 0, fault address 0x002492c5.     - Rollup 2 installed, Help/About still says 3.0.5300.0 We have installed the Rollup 2 update on two separate computers. Each time the install seems to complete successfully. Unfortunately the Help/About version number does not change. One of the laptops being installed (or not?) still receives the saInsert error message when doing an Offline sync, which was supposed to fix the problem. Am I to conclude the Rollup install failed?     - Creating Dev Environment of CRM 3.0 problems I have just completed running a redeploy of CRM 3.0 to create a Dev environment with in the same domain. I created a new Organizational Unit to seperate the product from the dev install. Everything appeared to got okay until I started the web client, I am not seeing any of the entities, Account, Contact, etc. I only see general areas such as Articles and Reports. I also have c360 installed, which I reinstalled in the dev. When I try to access a c360 function I get an Error dialog saying to contact your system administrator (Me???).     - Unresolved Contacts on Appointments I am receiving strange behavior with the CRM resolving contacts for appointments. If I create an appointment and invite nobody (i.e. I am the organizer but no atendees) and then track in CRM, it works fine. Appointment goes into the CRM and I am set as the Owner and Organizer and there are no required atendees. If I create another appointment and invite 1 person who is a user (not a contact) and then track in CRM I receive an error indicating that "No resources have been selected for this activity" and asks me if i want to continue. I click yes so it pushes it into the CRM. When I go to view it in the CRM it shows the required person (the user that I invited) as being unresolved. It also shows the organizer (me) as unresolved even though it was able to resolve the owner (me again). I have double checked that I have no other contacts in the system with the same e-mail addresses as our two users. Only 1 user each. Why would it not resolve those users?     - Advanced Find - use columns from parent customer? I'd like to set up a query that pulls a list of contacts and their parent customer's address information. Logically this is so I could send a mailing out to all employees of certain accounts but send it to the account's mailing address, not the address of the contact. Is this possible? The reason I need to do this is because we store the contact's *personal* address in their record and the company address in the parent customer's record. If it is not possible to do the above, how are other people handling this situation? Duplicating the account address in the contact's record and storing the personal address under more addresses?     - Adding Outlook Contacts to CRM One of the issues we face in deploying CRM in the legal market is how to allow users to add their contacts to CRM efficiently. To date, we've only been able to advise them to click the "Track in CRM" and "Set Parent" buttons for each of their business-related contacts. We've considered exporting each user's Outlook contacts to CSV, importing them to CRM, deleting their Outlook contacts, and pushing their CRM contacts to Outlook. But that would also be time-consuming, and potentially disastrous if any errors cropped up in the process. And since not all fields are synched, information could be lost. We'd like a process whereby we take all of a user's Outlook contacts, or all those marked with a certain category, and add them to CRM. Is there anything we're missing in 3.0 that would help? And is there anything in Titan that would help? I haven't installed CTP3 yet, but the supporting documentation isn't promising. Thanks, -- Peter T.     - Use button in Outlook to open CRM folder Problem creating custom button from Microsoft CRM in Outlook 2007: Hi, I'm trying to create a button in outlook linking to a Microsoft CRM page using Microsoft CRM. I've installed the Laptop client for Microsoft CRM and I got a Microsoft CRM menu under mail folders in the Outlook 2007 client. i.e. the Account menu links to http://localhost:2525/_root/stage.aspx?url=%2F_root%2Fhomepage.aspx%3Fetc=1&id=nav_accts If I click the accounts menu under Microsoft CRM the Account list shows, but if I create a button in ISV.Config with "outlook-only" parameter the account list doesn't show when I click it and standing in my Inbox or any other mailbox (same link as above). If I navigate to Contacts under Microsoft Crm and then click the button again it navigates to the Account list. The problem seems to be that the explorer window is not visible when Inbox is open and therefore the Accountlist won't show, but when I'm already in the Contacts list the explorer window is visible and I'm therefore able to navigate to the Accounts list.     - Recurring service activities Apologies for the number of (exasperated) posts lately! Having frankly an awful day of discovery of the things that we are absolutely relying on CRM to be able to do, but that it does not seem to....! Does anybody have a need to add recurring service activites?? We do! We have service contracts we need to honour on an annual, quarterly, and sometimes weekly basis.     - Adding multiple files to an account (notes) Hi, I was wondering if anyone had found a way around the problem of CRM 3.0 not allowing the uploading/attaching of multiple files to the notes field of an account record. Our CRM users need to be able to upload, say 10 jpgs of works carried out at a time, and i'm concerned they will not use the system properly if they have to repeatedly a single file ten times every time they use it. It seems to be another view than the standard views (quick find or lookup view) in which you can add "find columns", such as parent customer... you have e.g. the same issue when hitting the magnifying glass on the email activity for adding cc records (although this actually is a lookup view, there seems to be a "bug" that i doesn't use the added "find columns")...     - System.NullReferenceException when creating a new report? Hello. When Trying to upload a new report via the CRM Report Manager I get a System.NullReferenceException (Stack below). It seems as if this function has an error. We already installed some 'service packs'/roll ups, is there a special package we need to get the CRM Report Manager running?     - Picklists - Deleting Values Say I have a picklist called 'Type', that has 10 values. When I open Account ABC the Type = Customer. Now I delete the value Customer out of the picklist. Then when I open Account ABC, the value is removed out of the picklist BUT all the accounts maked Customer now have a blank/null value displayed as the picklist value. So the text label for Customer is gone. However, if I query via Adv Find and use the integer value that represents Customer, all the accounts still return. Is there any way to delete a value out of the picklist and still keep the text that was deleted as the value? Right now, there is no way to figure out who was marked Customer.     - Error when attempting to install Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Laptop Client for Outlook Hello. I am having a lot of trouble installing the CRM 3.0 Laptop Client for Outlook. Here are my error messages: Error reading from file D:\PFiles\MSCRM\Client\res\web\_controls \htmlbar\_imgs\cmd-unsubscribeLink.gif. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it. Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Client.InstallClientAction failed. Fatal error during installation I can browse to the location mentioned in the first error and find the file, however, I cannot open it within Adobe or other similar products. There are two more .gif images with the same problem as well (cmd-subscript and cmd-superscript). All other images in this directory open normally. When I view "Properties" on the images, their sizes are comprable to the others that open fine. Here is my error message when trying to open the .gif images in Adobe Photoshop: Could not open "D:\PFiles\MSCRM\Client\res\web\_controls\htmlbar\_imgs\cmd- unsubscribeLink.gif" because the file-format module cannot parse the file.     - Outlook rearranging CRM contact data Hi, I'm currently a good distance into our CRM implementation and have been wrestling with the decision of whether to roll-out primarily in Outlook or the web client. The users are already familar with Outlook, and it has appeared until now to do most of what they'll need to do on a daily basis. Something has struck me today though that has got me quite worried regarding the Outlook client. Having imported a test data set of contacts into the CRM through the web client (having first spent much time - days - cleansing the data), i've gone into the Outlook client and opened, and edited, a contact address. On saving, a window pops up asking me to verify the address - that the data is in the correct fields - it is NOT (but was previously, before Outlook opened it). Firstly, this really perturbed me, i'd just spent days cleansing our data and for Outlook to rearrange it in one fell swoop is, at the least, worrying. Not only that but Outlook doesn't take any field customizations from CRM. We have no 'States' here to speak of, and the nearest 'City' is over a hundred miles away. We deal with Villages, Towns, and Counties. I've got a few questions in mind at the moment.... 1) Am I right in thinking that in this case there are data integrity problems between CRM and Outlook? 2) Has anyone come across any other data integrity problems between CRM and Outlook? 3) Is there a fix in Outlook? 4) Email tracking in our CRM is vital. Can we still do it easily if we DON'T install the Outlook client and use CRM Web and Outlook separately? I.e. can a good level of email tracking take place between the Exchange Server (which we haven't yet set up) and the CRM? Sorry for the points!     - CRM creating a duplicate email I have a client that is experiencing a weird occurrence, on a regular basis. When an email is sent and tracked in CRM, they almost always copy the other 5-6 members of the company. Often, not sure if always, when you check the entity that is regarded in the email, there are two copies of the email. The original email is owned by the person who sent the email. After assigning the new owner, when the account form tries to save and refresh, this error message occurs: Duplicate Record A record with these values already exists.     - CRMReports folder I was trying to create a custom web report following the instructions in one of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM books, which included creating a new web application inside de server "crmreports" folder. As I wasn't able to achieve what I was trying to with that report, I deleted it and all of its associated files. Since then I can't enter again the reports section in the CRM site, and I keep getting errors from the configuration files. Is there anyway I can restore the content of the "crmreports" folder to its initial state? The error I get right now is that the 'Microsoft.Crm.Reports.Home' type couldn't be loaded, and it's originated in the home_reports.aspx page, in the following line: <%@ Page Inherits="Microsoft.Crm.Reports.Home" CodeBehind="Microsoft.Crm.Application.Pages.dll"%> I've tried copying that .dll file to the "crmreports" folder, and to a "bin" folder inside that one, but I still can't get it to work... I'm looking for suggestions regarding sales territories. In our
company, a sales representative may be assigned multiple sales
territories. To my understanding, MS CRM Territories are not able to
handle this type of relationship. So my thought was to create a new
entity - [company name] Sales Territory, then apply many to one
relationship with Users. Many [company name] Sales Territory: One CRM
USER. Unfortunately, this is not possible. Any thoughts or suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.
