    - best approach for exporting millions of records to CRM? I need to export 8,000,000 (millions) account's records to the CRM. what is the best approach doing it ? obviously, writing my own application, that will call the CRM api (crmservice) for inserting the Data, is unsuitable, because it will take months to transfer such amount of data... and I'm not sure the DMF is suitable either... any suggestions? or existing tools?     - Problem with CRM implemenation? I recently installed my first CRM SBE and I'm wondering if I've messed up slightly and hopefully someone here will be able to offer some advice. I need to add some product lines in order to generate contracts/quotes for clients but when I enter Products there is no ability there to add a new product. So I scanned around and I believe I need to create a price list first but I'm not sure how that should be done. I've checked within Settings > Settings but there is nothing there for Price Lists. I cannot remember exactly but I believe when running the wizard I may have been asked if I had any products and if I was asked this I could have said no (I actually deal in managed services so not a physlical product as such). Can anyone tell me if I have missed something out and indeed if I have how I could possibly rectify it. Thanx for any advise you can offer.     - is this a bug i will tell this as calmy as i can be you have a campaign and you have campaign activities in it, one of the campaign activities is filled with phone calls(thousands) because you can not divide and distribute all phone calls created from a campaing activity equally to customer representatives. (which is a painfull thing, when not all accounts have owners because you imported those acounts) you assign all to yourself as a administrator and then assign all these activities to a queue. simple right everything is ok. csr people goes to the queue accepts some and works for months calling and completing phoncalls, but if mistakenly you also have assigned the Campaing Activity entity itself to the queue, and an customer representative accepts it, guess what!!! months of reporting is gone, all the activities, open ones and even the completed ones(you cannot change the owner of a completed activity by design) owners change to that person, accepting it i have also tried it like, i have a campaign activity and i assign it to an another manager because he is in charge from now on, guess what again!! owners of the activities changes, no matter who have closed them so who has called how many companies?, who has got what we need from those specific picklist? all gone. now i am turning back from a backup, and dont know what to do really, i must get all those activities owners back, and maybe with an unsupported way change the owner ids from sql, and dont know if it can be done also for completed ones. people loved ms crm here and this what happened made everyone so angry just in case, for your information. thank you.     - DST client update causing huge lag time in outlook2k3 I am the CRM Admin with 36 active clients who work remotely. We use CRM 3 SP1 Ver. 3.0.5300 w/ hot fix KB931270 and KB925874(DST) installed on both the client and Server. I run the offline version w/ sql 2005 express ver on my desktop. After the DST update was installed on my local desktop client My outlook would hang for from 30 seconds to 2 minutes trying to synch up with exchange. I recieve an error report from outlook saying that there are communication problems with exchange. The rest of the guys on the IT team check the Exc2k3 server and it is working flawlessly. I also have one user who is testing the DST update and the laptop is hanging for nearly 5 minutes when workin wireless in the office. As soon as I give him a hard connection the synch take 1-2 minutes to sync with Exchange. This always happenes when Outlook is tryign to send/recive data from the Exchange server.     - Adding contact name to activity view The activity screen in 3.0 shows regarding, but if the activity is regarding an order or quote we would like to see the person and company the order is for also. The view editor does not include these fields on the option menu. Is there a way to get them to show up? I have written a SQL query to give me the full list of activities, with subject, regarding name, contact name, account name, etc. I don't know how to get those fields onto the menu. Another method might be to edit the form to bind the grid to my query in place of the standard one. Is there a way to do any of these? I tried adding the contact and account names on the end of the activity subject. Sales didn't like it. These things can never be easy. Any guidence or direction you can provide will be appreciated.     - Outlook Client install problem Client did the following: 1. Accidentally tried installing the "full" Outlook client on a desktop. Somehow the install failed. 2. Did a correct install of the "light" client. But received the "can not connect to CRM" error when opening Outlook. 3.     - Rollup1 Error Msg in OL Client I successfully ran the update rollup on the server. On my outlook client I had already run the outlook 2007 compatibility module prior to installing the rollup.     - User Rights / Permissions Hi All We have a call out that based on business logic closes the appointment as completed, now this works fine for the admin user but when we use one of our sales users the call out throws an error saying user does not have the rights / permissions. I need to know what to look for in CRM application error reporting to try and identify the root cause of my problem.     - Estimated Revenue of an Opportunity Hi folks, It would be very useful to be able to simply quote an amount for an Opportunity without having to break the amount down into individual products. This can be done through the Estimated Revenue field of an Opportunity. When it is set to be user provided, the estimated revenue is not carried over automatically when a related quote is created. Write-in products can be added to a Quote, Order or Invoice to achieve that functionality but as far as I can see there is no facility to achieve the same thing with an Opportunity. Basically I would like to set an Estimated Revenue value for an Opportunity which is then carried over to the Total amount field of a related Quote. Shouldn't this be possible? As there is no branching in Sales Processes, I tried to use two manual rules to achieve the same result. These manual workflow rules didn't appear under the "Run Subprocess..." in the "On Create" workflow. They also don't appear in other manual workflows. I also tried creating a completely empty "On Create" workflow and two manual workflows that were also empty, with the same result.     - Bulk import of contacts We are still in the process of importing/entering data into the system. I have a spreadsheet of clients which includes their name, contact details, company and position. I don't have any problem with the bulk import tool with the exception of importing the company. I realise this is slightly awkward as the company is entered as a lookup on the contact form. Is there any way to quick create a new account using the company name during a bulk import of contacts? Better yet, can you also check if the account already exists and if it does, link it through the look up, and if not, quick create a new account. My guess is that I'd have to write some sort of new script which is similar to the bulk import tool, but with the ability to also create new accounts. I've managed to avoid writing any call outs so far, so I'm not really sure how to do this. Besides, surely this isn't a unique problem!!! Any ideas?     - Outlook freezes upon completion of CRM Synchronization We have CRM3 with rollup 1 installed. We have Exchange running on a separate server. I installed CRM3 Outlook Desktop Client and rollup 1 on my laptop. When I synchronize, it appears to synchronize successfully. Then Outlook freezes. No screen refreshes, etc. It appears that Outlook is taking about 20% of the CPU continuously for many hours (i.e., overnight and beyond). I have duplicated this on multiple client machines, and it actually happens if I have installed the Outlook Laptop Client as well. What could be happening?     - Picklist value out of sequence I have a picklist with values that are out of sequence and I need to revalue the items in the list but the only way I can think of to do this is to delete the list and start over. The only problem is that the list has been used, so when I try to delete the list it says "The value associated with this list option will be deleted permanently. After a list value it deleted from the system, it cannot be re-added. Any existing records that contain this value must be manually updated to a different value in the list". All I want to do is revalue the list so the list value will be in sequence (1,2,3,4,5). Is there a way to possibly do this without losing what as been used already without the manual stuff?     - Problem "Going Offline" with Dynamics CRM 3.0, SBS 2003sp1 and XPs My Configuration - all with the latest updates applied: Small Business Server 2003sp1 Exchange 2003sp2 SQL Server 2000sp4 Dynamics CRM 3.0 - with update rollup 1 Windows XPsp2 Desktop Windows XPsp2 Laptop Outlook 2003sp2 Hotfix KB_931270 installed - needed to stop Outlook from crashing on both the Desktop & Laptop. This is a fresh install of Dynamics CRM with 1 client and 33 contacts - NO other data. Problem: Attempts to have CRM "Go Offline" are unsuccessfull. "Failed move data for entity 'Note' during action salnsert, countRows=1. Contact your system administrator for assistance" This produces 6 Events in the Application Event log (see below) EVT file available. There are two KB articles that are similar to this type of error: KB_918108 - which is included in update rollout 1, and already applied on my system KB_923327 - which I have installed on the Server, Laptop & Desktop. Any suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated.     - Workflow assignment of related records to account owner Is there a way to have related records (quotes, opportunities and orders are what I am really concerned with) automatically assigned to the account owner if someone other than the account owner creates them? I would think this would be no big deal, but I have not been able to figure it out and think I am overlooking something. Our structure pairs an inside sales person with some number of outside sales people (anywhere from 1-4). The outside sales people own all of the customer accouts. If an inside sales person creates an opportunity, for example, for a particular account, I would like workflow to assign the opportunity record to the account owner (the outside sales person).
