Outlook Client Causes Outlook to Freeze
When I install the Outlook Client (3.0), either laptop or desktop
version, it causes Outlook to "freeze" or "lock up" after about 30-45
seconds. The only way to continue os to kill the Outlook process in
task manager. Ideas?

I am trying to decide if you are better with a flat list of basic subjects

Add docs to KB (or use Sharepoint?)
One of my clients has said that "the KB articles would be much more
useful if you could attach documents to the articles".. I was actually
quite surprised that you couldn't (as you can attach notes, and
therefore files, to just about everything in the system).
Has anybody looked into ways to do this? The only thing I've found is
to use a hyperlink in the KB as a pointer to a doc. It sounds like
this might work, especially if you integrated it with a Sharepoint
library. I believe that is relatively easy to do, but I have zero
experience with Sharepoint.
Obviously, the goal would be to be able to search all KB attachments as
well as the articles too. For that, I believe I read somewhere that
you could add CRM to the things that Microsoft's (very cool) desktop
search utility. (But then, I don't know how/if you could search
Sharepoint as well.)
If anybody has done this, or something similar, would you mind posting

CRM 3.0 Opportunity history and related records
I am working with multiple quotes within a single opportunity. As a quote is
revised and replaced by a new quote, a quote rule automatically schedules a
task to follow-up the quote.
This task appears in the history for the quote (once the task has been
completed obviously), but it does not appear in the history for the
opportunity. The quote is related to the opportunity as it appears in the
quotes tab for that opportunity.
I expected to see the history item in the opportunity history if I included

Control over the status of custom entities
I have some custom entities which have no need for an inactive status.
On the other hand I also have entities which once deactivate should never be
actived again.
Also I have entities which when they are deactivated need to have a status
reason selected or even some other fields filled in, but CRM allways sets the
default.
Finally I also have entities which should have more statuses than Active and
InActive, Like Invoice.
With some customization this all can be done but there are ways arround
these customizations; You cann't remove the deactivate/activate links from
the forms/grids.

CRM 3.0 Viewing opportunities by sales process
I would like to view opportunities by sales process ie. setup a Saved View
using Advanced Find. I can't see any way of filtering by sales process - am I
missing something?
I have read previous posts re viewing sales stages - I have already done
this, the problem is that I want to run multiple sales processes each with
their own stages. So I need to be able to filter first by sales process, then
by sales stage.
Also, while I'm here. Is it possible to associate sales processes with
different Business Units? I see in Workflow Manager that Business Unit is one
of the columns - but I can't see any way in the setup process to specify
business unit.

Google Deskop Search
I found a performance issue with CRM 3.0. If my default Pane/Tab is one
with a lot of items (more than 100) Internet Explorer will 'hang' for a few
minutes at 100% processor utilization.
If I change my default Pane/Tab to one with 5 or 6 items, this does not
happen. I can then click on my tab with 100+ items with no problems.
I disabled Google Desktop Search and the problem went away.
I tried excluding my CRM web from Search, but the problem persisted.
If I remove Web History from my Search Types the problem goes away.
This is probably more of a Goole Search issue than a CRM issue, but I
thought I would post here in case anyone else is having a similar problem.
If anyone else has researche this problem and has another solution, let me

Restricting access

Just a bit of a rant....can't beleive that there isn't some kind of
basic activity report in V3.0 or am I missing something???? I know I
can (and will) write them for clients but it would be nice that have

Receiving undeliverable emails from the crm exchange mailbox
Our network administrator set up our new crm 3.0 environment along with the
exchange connector. CRM users are now receiving undeliverable emails from
the crm mailbox whenever an email is sent to the user, and the CRM emails are
not being tracked in CRM.
Anyone have thoughts on how to correct this?

Activity - Mail Reply closure?
What are the options of closing a mail activity when a customer replies to a
mail in CRM?
I have created a test enviornment wher a user gets a reply to the mail he
has sent to the customer and the mail comes in CRM and gets asosciated with
the respective record. The troube is it gets stored in my assigned or in
progress queue and I cannot figure out how to close this activity.
The options that i can see are:
Delete
Convert to Opportunity
Asign
Send
Reply etc.
What if want to close the activity????? is there any option that I am mising.
I do not want to see this as an open activity.

No synchronising of local deleted contacts
Hello
When I create or initially synchronise the contacts from CRM to the local
contacts, everything works fine and also changes are synchronised in both
ways. But when I delete the contact in the local contact folder, the contact
is never again synchronised.
Any ideas?

I had the 3.0 beta installed and it expired, now i've installed the msdn
version with that key ( only 10 user ) this time in danish, the last version
was in english.
When I try to install the sample data it wants me to find the english named
users and not the described in the implementation guide danish names.

CRM Deployment Manager
Hi,
After a number of trial installs and fine tuning of my installation process
I have finally install CRM 3.0 on our live server.
The installation went without a hitch. No prereq' problems and no errors
during install. I rebooted the server, ran through the CRM SBS Edition
Config Wiard to find that it couldn't apply the changes to the server.
OK I thought, perhaps my user (administrator) needs adding to the user list
so I launched the CRM Deployment Manager on to get the following error:
The server http://CRM/MSCRMService/ is not responding. This might happen if
it is currently unavailable, it is not a Microsoft CRM server, or you do not
have sufficient priveleges to run User Manager. For more information contact
your system administrator.
I installed CRM as administrator and ran Config Wizard and Deployment
manager whilst logged on as administrator. All CRM services are running and
the only errors in the event log are HTTP errors relating to the fax router
service.
One last piece of info. If I try to browse the CRM website through IIS I
get the CRM Access Denied Page.
Can anyone help as I'm so close to a good installation but can't get any
users deployed.

CRM 3.0 Mobile installlation issue
I an trying to install CRM 3.0 Mobile Beta on an existing CRM 3.0 server
which works very well.
Brief steps are as below:
1. install .NET 2.0 Framework over CRM server
2. Run setup.exe under CRM 3.0 Mobile Beta CD
3. Select "Microsoft CRM Network" at the 1st window
4. Select to accept EULA and click Next.
A messagebox pops up saying that:
Setup did not find a Microsoft CRM user with the required privileges for
the Microsoft CRM Mobile user account. This user must have Read privilege at
the Organization level for Record Customization and User. Assign these
privileges to an existing user or to a new user created for this
installation, and then restart setup.
I haded tried to create users with a custom Security Role which has
privileges for reading all objects at Organization level and also Go Mobile
privilege, but the Msgbox still pops and blocks the installation.

Domain Controller and CRM
Hi,
We accidently deleted the Domain controller for our CRM production. As a
result, i cannot start the microsoft security services and the CRM system is
not running at all. Since the failure is in the DC, Is there a way that the
OU, User and roles defined in CRM can be exported into new DC? Or are there
any better solution than this one?

Sharepoint Services stsadm.exe utility failed during setup
Hello,
I am installing CRM 3.0 Server on Small Business Server 2003. I have
followed all the instructions written in Microsoft CRM 3.0 Implementation
Guide. Before the end of instalation i recieve an error message : "Action
Microsoft Crm.Setup.Server.RSConfigureSharePointAction failed. Windows
SharePoint Services stsadm.exe utility failed with the exit code -2130256315
and message: cannot connect to the configuration database."

Outlook Light Client does not work on Terminal Services
We have a SBS 2003 install of CRM V3, all works well however we have just
built a fresh server using Windows 2003 SP1 Terminal Services and Office 2003
SP2 and have followed the deployment guide for Ternminal services. The script
runs fine.
However the MSCRMaddin.dll fails to load everytime. I have followed some of
the posts which say remove the addin and add it again and run MSXML SP2,
still no joy.

Outlook CPU Hog after CRM v3.0 Client
I am finding that once you put the CRM client on a workstation (not a
laptop, just a normal workstation) the CPU pegs to about 95% for about 10
seconds every 30 seconds.
In just 20 hours of run time, Outlook consumes just over 4 hours of CPU time
in task manager.
My sycn interval is set to ever 30 mins, so I am wondering what is up, has
anybody seen this before?

How to open a form by clicking a button made in the isv.config

I made a new entity "mycontacts" that has a few forms. I also made a button
in the isv.config under the entity "account". What I want is, that when I
click that button, a form of mycontacts(showing also the accounid) will be

Price changes don't appear in orders
I've changed prices on my items, but when we go to add the item to an order
the price posted to the order does not reflect the new number.
We're currently using only one price list.

instructions don't work. The e-mail goes to all the receipents but no

CRM 1.2 and SFO
We've recently moved our CRM install to another server. The web client is
working, but the SFO client is giving us trouble. When we go in to CRM for
Outlook, it takes a long time to load. Then, after doing one or two things,
it freezes up, then kicks us out of Outlook altogether.
Any ideas?
I'm wondering if we have the latest/greatest updates installed. How would I
go about determining what SFO version we're on (including updates)? And
what version is the latest/greatest?
