Appointments / Meetings using this tool. Is there another way to migrate

Workfow action: save?
Question - can a manual workflow save a record before performing other
actions, such as sending an email?
My users enter information into an Account's comment box, and then Apply
Rule to start this workflow. The main action in the workflow is sending an
email containing the account's information. The problem is that they often
forget to save the record before applying the rule, which causes all of their
changes (since the last save) to be lost.
I've tried adding an action to change the Status to Active (which it already
is) but that doesn't help.
Is this issue limited to the ntext field in which they are working, or would
the same behavior occur to strings, picklists, etc?
This is a CRM 1.2 environment.

Network Load Balancing
There is documentation that details how to install CRM 3.0 in an NLB
environment, however that assumes that we want to use the NLB functionality
built-in to Windows 2003.
What other NLB based environments does it work with? Can they use Cisco
equipment etc?
Has anyone else implemented CRM in an NLB environment using a product like

Populating data from one CRM field to another. (CRM 3.0)
Hello,
I have a custom field in Accounts. This field is called "discount" and it
holds a number from 0-100.
I have created a matching feild in Opportunities. When ever some one opens
an Opportunity I want the discount field to be populated with the value from
the discount field from the Account that the Opportunity belongs to.
I have some ideas but I know I need a lot of help. For starters I figured I
would use an OnLoad from Opportunities to check the Discount field from the
Account and make opportunity discount field equal that value.

I don't actually know if I can pull from different places. For example,
above I'm trying to take data from Account and put it in Opportunities. And
my code does not know how check which particular account it should be
grabbing the discount value from. Could some one show me the code to check
value in field Account from Opportunity and then dump that value (an account
name) into the code to pull the discount value from the correct Account.
Or if some one thinks there's a better way I'd love to hear your ideas.

quote/lead/account question
Our sales model is such that one or more quotes are presented in order to
'win' the account. They would prefer to not convert a lead/opportunity to an
account until a Quote is accepted. It looks like CRM requires an account in
order to create a quote, using that model they would have numerous accounts
in the system that are not really accounts? Am I missing how this should flow
in CRM? does anyone have a better suggestion. I'm considering adding a custom
field to the account entity to indicate if the account is 'closed' and try
filtering a number of views.

Feature request - advanced find record counter
Would like to have a field that showed the 'returned result' of an advanced
find. Currently when you execute an advanced find you don't know if your
query returned 500 records or 5000 without scrolling from page to page and
adding them up manually.

Feature Request - hiding items not used on the Navigation Pane
Customers who do not use some features of 3.0 (e.g. Quotes, Invoices,
Contracts) would like to hide these items from the menu in order to clean up
the screen and there seems to be no easy way to do this.

Feature request - printing the only the body of an email
Unable to print only the body of an email in 3.0 (this was a feature in 1.2)
or printing only a selection. The entire email including sender and
recipient gets printed which then makes the document print across multiple
pages. Right now the only workaround is to copy & paste the selection into
word and print from there which is very cumbersome when this has to be done
hundreds of times.

Feature request - Bulk edit of Activities
I am told by MS Support that currently editing multiple records at one time
can only be performed on Accounts, Contacts, Leads & Opportunities. Editing
multiple Activities an extremely desirable feature; for instance, if there
are 15 activities that did not get completed in time it would be great for a
user to be able to extend the due date on all those activities at once
instead of having to edit each activity individually.

CRM Web client fails on Lead: Forms and Views
I have installed Microsoft CRM 3.0 on a windows 2k3 with the latest service
packs and updates, SQL is 2005 and it is also up to date.
The system has Sharepoint working fine on SSL, I had a couple of problems
during installation so I had to reinstall the CRM a couple of times for it to
be installed and working properly, but it now seems ok, users can connect to
the server with outlook and with the web browser, but, there is an error
while using the web browser:
Everytime I go to Settings, Customization, lead, I can add some attributes
and it seems to be ok, until I click the Forms and Views link, at this stage
the window seems to hung until and error reports:
Error
An error has occured. For more information, contact your system administrator.
The buttons appear as: Try again & cancel
Try again takes me back to the same error.

Multiple Attributes - One Relationship
I have created a custom Entity - "Inventory"
This has a relationship with Accounts which is used to show the location of
a piece of hardware - a lookup field is used to choose an account. All good.
However I'd also like to have a couple of other lookups for Supplier and
Manufacturer. These are both stored in Accounts so they'd need to reference
an entry in Accounts again.
Is this possible? I know you cannot create multiple relationships between
entities but can you create multiple attributes using the one relationship? Tag: Query on Notes? Tag: 65187

In the web client for CRM 3.0, how do I customize the primary headers in the
toolbar so I can sort more columns? (e.g. Account Name, Primary Contact, Main

Add Custom Field to an Account
I am trying to add a custom field to an 'Account' and don't see it appearing
after restarting IIS. Here's what I did:
Clicked on Goto > Settings > Customization > Customize Entities > Account >
Attributes > New (FYI this is a date field called Renewal Date).
After saving and publishing, I then restarted IIS on the CRM box, but don;t
see the new field in any part of the Account sections.

Openning two crm web pages simultaneously
Hi,
Our client is using two crm systems for two different companies that they
are servicing. They need to be able to switch between screens quickly, since
they may receive calls from both companies simultaneously. However, we know
that for some reason you can not open two crm web clients simultaneously. Is
there a workaround for this issue, so that they can use two web clients on
the same PC?

CRM Desktop Client Find Error
We have CRM Desktop Client Installed and when we try to do a find on
any
custom fields outlook hangs for 5 minutes then we get an internet
explorer
script error with it pointing to lookupsingle.aspx if you click ok it
then
finishes with the search. has anyone ran into this before? if we use

laptop client this does not happen.

Send Email issues in v3.0
Hello. I'm having an issue w/ the Send Email feature in CRM. In particular,
if I click Send Email from the toolbar and then click Send again, I'm given
an Error and the email doesn't send. It creates the Activity for the email
but leaves it as open since it never sent.
Has anyone seen this and if so, know how to rectify this issue?

Add items to "Account-screen"
When you open an account in Microsoft CRM 3.0, a screen appears with all the
information about that account. On the left side of the screen there is a
menu with options such as "Information", "Contacts", "More Addresses",
"Activities" and "History".
There is also a menu "Sales" with the options "Opportunities", "Quotes" and
so on.
I want to created a custom entity called "Visitor Reports". I want this
entity visible in the Sales menu of an account (or Contact).

Campaigns
I want to send an email to every person in my contacts and be able to track
the responses. I see how I can set up a quick campaign and sent an email to
myself but I thought there would be some options for me, as a recipient, to
opt out of receiving these emails.
I also thought that there would be a more automated response format.
Furthermore, when I replied from the email I sent myself and came into work
and clicked track in CRM there still shows no response to the campaign.
What am I doing wrong? There is very little clear information regarding how
to actually do this from start to finish and it is not very intuitive in my
opinion.

Role Access issue with CRM 1.2
I have a cutstom role in CRM 1.2 that has Organization level rights to
Create, Read, & Write contact records. The Problem is that a user assigned
this role cannot edit all contact records in the system. I should also say
that our current setup of CRM has only one business unit so that is not the
issue.
With this role users can get to some records not created be them but not all

Knowledge Base in CRM 3.0
Hi,
In MSFT CRM, is it possible to set some approval rule before the article
being published? Let say user A create the article and submit it. Once it's
being submitted, there is a group of people who can review this article. Then
this group of people can approve/reject it. Is it possible? I did not see the
WF associated with article/KB.
Another problem that i face, after i publish the article, when i browse to
KB> search and choose full text search, keyword search, title search for the
article that i just created, i could not find the article at all. I can find
my solution if i use the subject browse. Is it a bug?

Email activities should not be closed when received in CRM
Hi Mister Microsoft,
I think the "this is by design" way to go with the emails being
automatically put on the "closed" status when received in CRM through the
Exchange Router is not the good approach and I'll explain why:
- Most of our clients want to be able to quantify the amount of work done on
a particular category for emails, tasks, phone calls, etc.
- These clients are HR services in very big institutions and this kind of
"quantify" information is very important for them
- Actually, when somenone sends an email to a Microsoft CRM user, this email
goes through the Exchange Router and arrives in CRM: good; but the main
problem is that since this email is not categorized, the person who takes
care of it has to categorize it after it has been received! And he/she can't!
I think emails should be on "open" status since they receive it and they
have to treat it and then, once the action is complete, close it!
Why don't the developers at Microsoft do something like this:
When an emails gets into CRM, put it on "open" status but disable the
following fields: subject & description
Hope this suggestion will help someone else... feel free to vote for it

Email Templates should have option for attachments
There should be an option to attach a file (or files) to a template email.
Many of my clients want to use bulk email not just for marketing activities
but for things like RFPs, questionaires, newsletters, etc.
I understand that this could cause issues by attaching a large file to
thousands of email activities, but the option would be nice.

CRM speed enhancement!!

I thought I would share our finding.
By increasing the size of the IIS cache you can gain massive improvement in
the CRM load time. Due to the massive improvements we have got, we are in
the process of implementing at all of our client sites.
To do this you will need to add a registry entry into the following location:
HKEY_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\InetInfo\Parameters
Type: DWORD
Name: MemCacheSize
Value: 5000000

I know that CRM 3.0 SBE can only be installed on a SBS 2003 premium edition.
But does anybody know if we can install CRM 3.0 Professional on a SBS 2003
Premium?
I do not see any reason why it would not work, but I prefer to check first.

Subreports don't display in CRM report viewer
I have a report that displays a series of subreports. This works fine when
I deploy it manually but when I deploy it through CRM none of the subreports
are uploaded, therefore they don't display. This is true of an image on the
report as well.
IF I look at the catalog in the ReportServer database I can see that the
manually deployed report is accompanied by the graphic and the subreports in
the Catalog table. The additional items are all marked as hiden=true as
expected.
However when I look at the same report deployed via CRM there is only a
record in this table for the report itself and no hidden entries for any of
the referenced subreports and graphic.
How should I do this - is there a workaround (such as deploying the same
report manually into the CRM reports catalog), or am I just doing it wrong?

Emails Not Showing Up
If we send emails from within CRM (and they send fine), shouldn't their

Startup Error with the CRM 3.0 Outlook Client
For the past two days, my CRM users are getting an error when they first try
to access CRM from Outlook. The error says --
An error has occurred. For more information, contact your system
administrator.
After restarting Outlook twice, they are able to use CRM without issue.

Check Box Creates Null value
I have a number of check boxes on a form for which the attributes' default
value is no (a value of 0). When the record is created, all check boxes are
empty. If the user checks it, the answer is yes (a value of 1).
HOWEVER the database value is NULL if I never check the box. The only way I
can get a value of 0 is if I check and un-check the box. This problem does
not surface if my form is formatted using two radio buttons.
This makes the advanced find ineffective.
Does anybody have any suggestions that would allow me to keep the more eye

Accounts Corrupt
I have two accounts with 100+ contacts. The Activities, History,
Opportunities, Quotes, Orders, Invoices, Cases, and Contracts links are all
generating excpetion errors when accessed.
I tried merging the records with new ones. The new records exhibited the
same problems, while the old records' are free of error.
Is there a limit to the number of records that can be associated with an

It would return the company Radio Beacon Inc. located in Toronto.
I can dump this into an iFrame URL but I don't want it to be hardcoded. I
would like to pass the Account Name the URL.

What I've noticed is that my form doesn't seem to push this data... It's
acting as if it only reads what ever I enter in the URL field of the iFrame.
So, what I'd like is some code that will dynamically pull the Account Name
and fill it in my URL where I need it.
After that I might like to add more, such as City.
Any help would be excellent!

CRM to Excel basics
CRM 3.0 and SQL 2005 server are running in the same machine at an active
domain different than the active domain from which i'm connecting to the CRM
through my client computer. Both computers are in the same private network
though.
When attempting to export data to a dynamic table i get a failed login
error: 18452 saying the user is not a trusted connection.
Then it allows me to change the user and password to reattempt the
connection, i try the system administrator SQL account (sa) with it's
password and the error goes away, however no data is brought from the CRM.
All in all, i'm sure i'm missing steps into configuring the client machine
and the CRM server so i can export dynamic tables from the CRM.
My question is: What are the steps necessary to configure the CRM - Excel
dynamic table integration from a client computer in the same network but
different domain than the CRM/SQL server.

Options missing after install Outlook client tools
I am using CRM 3. I am a backup admin and after installing the Outlook
tools for CRM on my machine the settings option to the bottom left is
gone so I can't change any of the settings and also the calendar option
is gone from the upper left side of the screen. If I login as myself on
another machine that I didn't install disc 2 on they reappear. What is

401.1 errors
At first, only users who were members of the Domain Admin group could access
the CRM server. After a reboot of workstations and server, now no one can
connect.
Whenever I attempt to connect to CRM, I am asked for my login information
(three time) and then I receive a 401.1 error. I have seen other messages on
the boards with similar problems, but none seemed to help.
If anyone can give offer guidance, it would be appreciated.
