    - Delay or stop activity becomes history when I create an activity, such as an appointment, it will automatically carry over to the History section the day after the appointment has ended. Is there any way I can change it so that it does not automatically carry over to the history? Or maybe change it so that it won¡¦t go to the history for at least a week?     - Delete a user Anyone have a clue how I can Delete a user from CRM...here is the situation: User was added...then the user was deleted from Active Directory and a new user with the same login created. In MSCRM the user was deactivated and then Activated. Now we can not assign a license to the user in MS CRM the error is "The selected object could not be found. Verify that the object exists in both the database and Active directory." I assume ths is because we deleted the user from active directory and added a new user with the same login. MS CRM does not see ths s the same object. So I would thnk the fx is to delete the user from MSCRM and add him back. However, I can only disable/enable. There is no delete option. I don't want top go directly to the database to delete this user. Any ideas? I tried lookng through the MMC user manager but that has never worked...micrsoft confirmed the problem to be a bug but never has come back with a fix.     - Sales for outlook problem Hello everybody, After installing MS Sales for outlook, I get the following error when I try to add a new contact/account/... : Error in loading dll It only occurs when I try to do it from the menu on the CRM Home page within outlook and not when I use the Outlook forms or the online webapp. This error message could virtually mean anything so I really haven't got a clue where to start searching.     - Deployment Manager I am setting up CRM in a test envrionment, I believe I have everything instaleld correctly. I have installed and reinstalled. When i run the Deployment Manager i get an error sying the snapin has failed. The event log has the follwing error in it.     - crm and telesales campaigns Our people in telesales used to work with Siebel, and they keep asking about the concept of "campaigns". In all of the documentation, I found 2 documents that mentioned the word campaign exactly once. Could someone give me at least some kind of idea of how campaigns could be done in MSCRM? For example, we as a distributor decide to go on a campaign of selling HP laser printers. We have MSCRM with our partners inside, and custom field "HP Customer". The value of this filed can be true, or false.     - Hardware Req for CRM *SQL Server* Repost We are having issues with our SQL Server and CRM. CRM Server is on another box - SQL Server is on dual PIII 700 box w/2G ram.... We are getting "security descriptors cannot be updated" when updating roles and while using Workflow to email 100 emails for newly created leads we get "deadlock" and/or "Lock:Timeout" issues. Is anyone else getting the same errors and may I ask a role call on what everyone's SQL Server hardware is like?     - Problem with forms custimization I'm trying to add some fields to Accounts form. I added an "HP Customer" attribute using Deployment Manager of a Boolean type. Then I added the field using System Customization to the Details tab of the Accounts form. It all looks and works very nice in the Account Custimization part of the CRM, but when I go to the Sales module and take a look at the existing account, there is no new field on the form. When I create a new account, still no new field on the form. However, the filed is visible as a column on the list of all accounts. How can I make new fields visible on the form? p.s.     - Cannot use Workflow Manager Hi, My crm server was running normally. I logged on as an administrator which own all privileges. But, when I tried to use the Workflow Manager, it popped up: "The specified Microsoft CRM server is not responding.     - Creating CRM user - security privileges issue When attempting to create a new CRM user in the user manager wizard, I get the following error after selecting a user from the list of domain users. "You don't have sufficient security privileges to run the user manager wizard." The server is running Windows 2000 server, not 2003 like I have seen on other similar inquiries.     - no permissions to anything I have installed our action pack CRM version, and I can not access the CRM website, or add users. It says I don't have sufficient security priveleges to run the User Manager Wizard. For more info contact your system admin (me). Is this a license issue? I sent my license request today but it says to wait 5 to 7 business days. I figured there would be a trial period at least. Any input?     - Adding a previously removed field to a form Hi I have removed a field from the contact form (the state field) and want to re-add it. It does not show in the list of fields to add, presumably because CRM thinks that it is already on the form. How do I convert a field from a text field to a pick list?     - CRM and Active Directory Native Mode? I recieved my Action Pack kit and I'm trying to install CRM on our server. We have Windows 2003, with a standard Active Directory Deployment, Exchange Server 2003, and SQL 2000 SP3a loaded up.     - How to make the Case description field larger. Hello- We are using the case description field to capture all history on a case. We do not attach notes because it is annoying and painful to have so many clicks to add detail to a case. I want all of the detail unless it includes supporting files or emails in the description so I can see all case history with one click. Any way to make the case description field larger? Furthermore, is there a way to see if there are notes attached to a case without clicking on the notes tab?     - Auto-generate invoices from GP Hello, We create 1000+ invoices per month, using QB pro 2000. We import these from an spreadsheet (created in 'IIF' format - some of you will know what I am talking about ;). The spreadsheet is created in access using our billing data (sql server). Whenever your query returns a resultset xml, it should be loadable in a XmlDataDocument but it will need a schema.     - 2nd post - Can anyone help me with an installation problem? I am a newbie to CRM working on my first installation and I am having some difficulty. I am trying to install on a SBS 2000 system that has been updated to meet the requirements. I started by installing the CRM server software. On my first install I left the INC out of the organization name and was not able to add licenses. I then uninstalled and reinstalled with the correct organization. I then changed the Crystal Reports Admin password and Added my license key. (I am following the instructions in the document entitled "Implementing MS CRM Sales Project Guide) I then moved on the installing the MS CRM Exchange E-mail Router. I put in the disk and start the install. It asks me the server name which I provide and then it asks an account and I tell it the Domain Admin username and password. The installer the starts installing and about 33% the way through I get the following message: Error 1303: The installer has insufficient privliges to access the directory c:\inetpub\wwwroot\MSCRMConnector. The installer cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact the system administrator. At this time I have no choice but to cancel. I tried to go check the permissions on that folder only to discover that there is no security tab! I am logged in as the Domain Administrator. Any help with this will be appreciated. Resolution This error usually appears when an attachment is attached to an Activity record, where the Activity record has been deleted from the application. At that point, the record is marked to be deleted from the database. Then, the deletion service sees that this record needs to be deleted. However, when the service tries to delete the Activity record, it cannot because there is an attachment assigned to the Activity record. Since the Attachment is stored in a separate table, there is a dependency on the Activity record, so it cannot be deleted. To verify this, on the Microsoft SQL Server where you installed the Microsoft CRM databases, please open the Query Analyzer tool (Start | Programs | Microsoft SQL Server | Query Analyzer). Point to the <organization_name>_MSCRM database, and execute the following script: SELECT * FROM ActivityBase WHERE DeletionStateCode = 2 This statement will return records in the ActivityBase table, where all Activity records are stored, that are marked for deletion. The Microsoft CRM Deletion Service removes any records with a DeletionStateCode = 2 for any entity in the database.     - Restricting access to Export to Excel functionality. Hi all I am aware that the answer is likely to be 'no', but is anybody aware of a way in which I can disable the Export to Excel functionality on the various screens (accounts, contacts, etc.) - either on a user by user basis or globally. A customer of mine believes this functionality makes it too easy for a user to do a complete dump of the central CRM data to Excel. (Obviously we have given them access to the data and we want them to be able to view it, but we do not want them to easily be able to do a complete dump). Any help appreciated.     - Problem with pick-list fields within views (Microsoft CRM). Hi all I have experienced an identical issue at two Microsoft CRM sites which I am hoping people may be able to shed some light on. In short, when pick-list fields are displayed as columns in views, the values do not show on the screen. This appears to be the case for ALL pick-list fields, such as relationship type for account, role for contact, etc. For example, we have created an Account view that shows Account Name, Parent Account Name and Relationship Type. The account records display perfectly for Account Name and Parent Account Name, but the Relationship Type column is completely empty. There is definitely data in this field, because double clicking into the account detail view displays the correct relationship type in the pick-list field. The problem occurs irrespective of whether the pick-list items have been customised or not. Both sites are using the international version of the CRM (v1.0). Any advice appreciated.     - Workflows with Email Templates Hi, I am trying to send an email (based on an email template) from an automated workflow. When an opportunity with value of over $50,000 is created, I would like to send an email to the account manager/owner with the details of the opportunity. Opportunity-typed email template created with necessary info. When I select the template from within Workflow manager email activity the rest of the field become greyed out.     - CRM on SBS 2003 DISASTROUS ** DO NOT ATTEMPT ** USERS BEWARE After downloading the CRM from the MSDN Universal subscribers site and attempting to install it 6 times, I have finally given up, after discovering that it does not work as advertised on SBS 2003. In fact it does not even install. In fact... worse than that it blows away a lot of SBS configuration files for sharepoint etc etc. Question: Why does the MSDN download site not say that "This product will not run on SBS 2003"? So, we thought... Maybe the Business Contact Manager will be better for us seeing as the CRM does not yet work on SBS 2003. After installing that, and playing around with it. We liked it. BUT. It is doctored and will not work with shared public folders on exchange 2003 even though standard shared contact folders will. Question: Why do microsoft not license the BCM for shared use an an optional license? Many people would buy it. Conclusion. Microsoft do not have a workable, shared CRM for Exchange 2003 and/or SBS 2003. One last point. If you DO install BCM 2003, it works well, until... You connect to an exchange server. At which point it removes itself, the forms, databases, and the "Business Tools" menu out of outlook 2003, and you lose all your data. Office 2003 and SBS 2003 are great products.     - Excel export functionality from Contracts?? Hi Everyone! Does anyone know if it's possible to do an Excel Export from Contracts (Contract with an 'r' vs. Contact)? The Contract records seem to be locked-down from doing an Excel Export. This includes Contract records that are retrieved via Advanced Find. My client is running into a few roadblocks with this when trying to do reporting on all of their Contracts. I'm sure that the MS analysts/developers thought this was a good idea initially, but it's forcing us to resort to Crystal Reports to solve this issue.
