One contact multiple accounts - Best practices
We work with several contacts who are responsible for multiple
accounts and I can't figure out the best way to handle this in CRM.

But it does not cover the situation I have now.
It seems that the Exchange administrator configures his user names as
"Joe.Carlsbad". Running the query:
Select DomainName from systemuserbase shows that there is not a user with
the FQDN of the domain. But I did see one successful rule deployment on one
account.
An account without the "Firstname.Lastname" format.
When and If I get a fix for this I will post it.
Since I'm in Sandiego, it's a problem getting someone on a Friday afternoon
in MBS support. After all, they work hard and deserve time off. But not us
consultants.

Error from Javascript
We have some javascript on the onLoad event for Opportunities. It does a SQL
callout to the filteredAccount table to grab the latest Credit Hold
information. One of our users suddenly got a javascript error on the page
yesterday that has me baffled.
It was:
There was an error this field's customized event.
Field: crmForm
Event: onload
Error: Cannot open database "xxx_MSCRM" requested by the login. The login
failed.
Any ideas on how a user could suddenly develop issues with accessing a
database via javascript? The user has access to the filteredAccount table
that is called by the javascript and is able to otherwise function normally

Workflow Not Doing Anything
I've created a very simple workflow that should create a new Phone Call after
a Lead is created. In the workflow manager GUI it says:
When lead is created
Phone Call: Intro Call
The status of the workflow is active. There is nothing in the logs. Logs
are blank since this is my only workflow.
I can make the workflow fire manually by selecting "Apply Rule.." but the
Phone Call that is created that way has nothing autofilled like the Phone
Number, Sender, and Receipiant.

where to find calculated fields
Hello,
I am a CRM newbie. I did a little SQL development a long long time ago in a
galaxy far far away. I am very rusty. I am trying to figure out how
calculated fields are handled so that I can copy the process.
I am looking at Customize Entities, Oppurtunity, Form and Views and the
Attributes. I am trying to figure out how the attribute Revenue
(isrevenuesystemcalculated) is calculated. I don't see anything on the forms
or the attributes. Is the value calculated in the SQL databas somewhere?

Formating text in a text field
Does anyone have any ideas on how to add a blank space between fields being
mapped to a text field? I have 4 fields I want to pull into one field with a
space between each one. No HTML code works, is there a way to create the
blank space
So my workflow will map 3-4 fields to a text field but I would like a
space between the values.

Outlook Clilent Problem Post Rollup2
Installed Rollup2 on server and clients. Desktop clients ok, but on notebook
client I can list accounts etc as usual but it wont allow me to click on
them to open any record (clicking on a link such as parent account from the
contacts list) does work but cant open the records being listed on the
screen?
Anyone seen anything like this or any suggestions?

We have c360 for detecting duplicates once they're already in CRM. Is

Can not uppdate forms - Problem from upgrade to CRM 1.2 to 3.0
Since I upgraded to CRM 3.0, it has after some time become inpossible to
update the forms.
I have been able to understand when the problem was introduced:
- It all worked fine and I was able to add field's to the form.
- One day I took a way a couple of fields in the form that was not used.
Since then it it is not possible to add any new fields.
This is how the problem occurs now:

- From the online mode, I choose adapt settings
- Adapt entities
- I choose account
- I choose "forms and views"
- I choose the "main form" for the account
- I choose "Add a field" under one of the sections in the form

I have a workflow sending out a message to an e-mailaddress.
In Workflowmanager I inserted the slug:
Incident (or case).Created On.
The workflow fires, all fine, in CRM it all looks good, but the e-mail the
workflowmanager send to comes out like this:

While it should say something more like:
29-06-2007 16:40 (GMT+01:00) Amsterdam, Berlin, or something similar.

Workflow syntax
Hello,
I am experimenting with workflow manager and I have some problems with the
syntax of a rule.
I have a custom entity call "flight reservation" (we are an online travel
agency) and I have created the following rule:
When flight reservation is created
wait
Flight Reservation.Reservation Status=Completed
end wait
Update: Flight Reservation.Date/Time issued=Execution Time
This rule updates the field Date/Time with the current date/time when the
status is changed to completed. I want this action to take place also when
the status=Cancelled. It doesn't let me to insert both completed & cancelled
and if I insert 2 rows in between wait and end wait it doesn't do anything.

Permission denied when access javascript
Hi,
I'm a newbie on MS CRM. I tried to customize crm with external aspx file and
IFRAME. I found a problem that when I call javascript (in external aspx file)
in onsave event then error pop up.

Using CRM Bulk Import Wizard with Excel 2007
Hello, a number of our hosted Microsoft CRM customers have reported
difficulties when using the CRM Bulk Import Wizard with a CSV file generated
from Microsoft Excel 2007.
It seems that Excel 2007 no longer uses double quotes (") as a field data
delimiter, and there are no options or other Excel 2007 formats that will
achieve this. (No idea why Microsoft disabled this option in Excel 2007!)
Users are having to import their Excel spreadsheet into Access 2007 then
export as a TXT file, which Access formats with double quotes as a the field
data delimeter by default. Or resort to an earlier version of Excel.
Has anyone found a workaround using Excel 2007 to produce a format the the
CRM Bulk Import Wizard is happy with?

Calculated totaltax and totalamount is reset
I've used the following script in OnSave on the order form to calculate a
totaltax (of 25%).
When I click "Save" the fields totaltax and totalamount are filled correctly.
However, when I close the form and re-open it, the values have been reset to
0.
Could someone please tell me, if there is an easy solution to this problem?

Delete from Queue disabled
I am running CRM 3.0 Desktop client and have a user set up with the roles of
everyone including system admin and customiser.
When i go through the CRM browser interface (i.e. not outlook interface)
into workplace and then into Queues I do not get an option to delete from the
queue. If I go to a machine that is running CRM Laptop client (and log on as
the same user) then the delete function is available. Question: Where is this
configured?

Tracking Tokens - Remove from subject line
We would like the tracking token to be removed from the subject line, or
hidden so the receiver of the email does not see it. We have had many
queries about our "odd refererence numbers" because we often require
reference numbers in our business.

Extracting Microsoft Dynamics CRM Demonstration VPC vhd
Dear all,
Help please...I've struggled all day with this.
I need a copy of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Virtual PC Demonstration,
released May 2006. I have downloaded the 5 files, from the Microsoft
downloads site, but I cannot extract. I get the following two error
messages, when I run the self-extracting .exe:

Any ideas?
As far as I can see the downloads of the part01.exe and part02 to part05.rar
files are okay. I have downloaded them 3 times now on different machines.
But I cannot be sure. I just wish Microsoft would put md5 checksums as well,
so I could be certain my 5 files downloaded correctly. If anyone could
supply the checksums, I would be grateful (then if any of mine are wrong, I
can just keep downloading until I get the right values).
I've searched the web, and no-one else seems to have problem generating the
.vhd from the 5 self-extracting rar files. And as these files have been
available for a while (and hence I assume have not been changed) I wonder if
the problem is elsewhere.
I would be gratefully for any ideas as to what to do next.
BTW: I have plently of disk space. So it is not that.

Account Notes disappearing
Hi all,
I have a user (always the same) who keeps complaining that she cannot
find Account Notes she had entered previously. Usually she only find
the few most recent ones.
I don't know whether she's doing something wrong or if there is a
problem with the system and she's the only one using MS CRM frequently
enough to run into that problem.
I used Advanced Find but that doesn't help if the Notes are not there
anymore!
Has anyone encountered this before? Any help, tips to avoid this or
back up Notes, suggestions would be most welcome.

Authentication Error
Hi,
After I have installed and configure "Frontpage Server Extension" on CRM web
site, I can not login which any account to MS CRM via web. The error msg
display "Authentication Error : MS CRM could not log you on to the system.
Make sure your user record is enabled and that you have been assigned at
least one security role. For more information, contact your system
administrator. What's wrong with IIS ? Can anybody help me to resolved this
serious problem ?

Workflow pauses with "Access Denied" error
I have made a custom assembly for a workflow to call and in my test
environment it works fine but when I try to deploy it to the server I
keep getting an "Access Denied. You do not have sufficient privliges
to run...." error. My user is a domain admin with CRM System
Administrator role assigned to him. When I run the code from a
windows app, it runs just fine, but when I put it into an assembly and
let the workflow handle it, I get the error. I tried signing the
assembly, I recompiled it from the production environment, still

Best Practices on where to store User Contact Information
Does anyone know if there is are Best Practices for where/how to store User
contact information in a mixed, Desktop/Laptop client environment? Hereâ??s the
issue as I see itâ?¦
â?¢ If you have a copy of your CRM User(s) information in your Outlook
contacts, you run the risk of the mix-ups in tracking inbound emails in CRM,
appointment creation and scheduling, etc..
â?¢ If you donâ??t have User contact info in Outlook contacts, then I see some
issues if you are an offline/off-the-web laptop CRM client.
o If you logged onto the laptop, then you can find user contact information
in the Outlook Global Address Book but this raises a couple of
issues/questions
ï?§ CRM User and Exchange/Outlook Global Address Book are not synchronized â??
if someone changes their CRM User contact information, it will not be
reflected in the Global Address Book
ï?§ Global Address Book information does not synchronize to peopleâ??s cell

means that our Users cannot look up contact info for their coworkers to phone
them or send them emails. This would be a major stumbling block for my users.

We need to delete all the server data in crm. All accounts, contacts,
activities, sales data etc but we have to keep all customizations and custom
entities.
Remind that we have also several outlook laptop clients that go offline with
their crm.
How to do this?

Does anyone know how to get cross entity information into a standard email
template?
Our client wants to be able to be on the Account and send an automatic email
that goes direct to the primary contact and pulls in the owner information
lists all the open Opportunity information for that account.
Much like a Invoice mail merge pulls all the related Product information
onto it as line items.
They also want it pretty and customer facing?

Another problem when trying to preview the report in VS is - =

Cannot Create File When That File Already Exists Installation Error
Hi,
I'm running a test install of MSCRM on a VPC and I'm getting an error
message that says
Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.ConfigureServiceVirtualDirAction
failed. Cannot create a file when that file already exists.
It gives me the option to Retry, which immediately fails and displays
the error again, and to Cancel, which will end the installation
process early and show me a log, but the log doesn't say what file it
is attempted to create that already exists.
The VPC is the latest one (not the one that's coming out right NOW,
but the last one). The server is running on Server 2003, with SQL
2005, Active Directory, and no Exchange Server, I'm just installing
with the existing SMTP checked.
This error occurs whether I connect to existing databases or create
new ones. I've also deleted every file I could find that had anything
to do with CRM. I think I got them all, because there's not much on
the VPC. I've searched other groups and I know this error occurs with
other Microsoft programs, but not always during installation, and I
can't seem to find any commonalities between those instances and my
installation failure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

unable to add a product kit to an order/invoice
Hello,
I have converted a product to a kit, but I am unable to add it to an order
or invoice as it looks like kits do not show up in the products selection
popup. Is there a fix or a workaround for this problem?

Time Spent and Billiable Time
I have created a workflow process that notifies our billing deparment when a
case is closed. Within the email I have included the fields Time Spent and
Billiable Time.
All users are recording time spent on tasks and related items. However the
engineer determines how many hours to bill the client. Upon closing the case
CRM prompts for "Billiable Time".
Within the automated email both fields are blank. How do I correct this?
