Hi,

I can logon onto the CRM app from a browser after supplying the
password to a SERVERNAME\username request.

The problem is with Outlook, because this request cannot be satisfied
the CRM COM is not running.

Does anyone know how I can eliminate the need to supply a password
when I connect to the CRM app, I tried to turn on anonymous access but
I could not log on at all then just said the logon had failed and did
I want to try again.

Thanks.

We ran into something similar. The CRM server was running on an IP
address other than the default IP for the NIC (in other words a second
IP was bound to the NIC and CRM web was pointing at that second IP).
This caused the pass-through authentication to fail and Outlook CRM
client would install but could not log on ("There is a problem
communicating with the Microsoft CRM server."). After changing the CRM
web back to the default IP, Outlook CRM client worked fine.

I also remember that a registry entry exists to force authentication
(don't allow pass-through). Microsoft gave this to us a while back but
I have no record of which registry key.

Kev, when using the outlook client, you must be able to authenticate to the
CRM as the user that you are logged into the network as - it won't work if
you are being challenged for credentials for the web client. You need to go
the the IE security settings for whichever security zone your CRM server is
in (usually the Intranet), and select to log in using current user and
password. Once you can open the CRM browser cleint without being
challenged, then the outlook client should work.

Dave,

Thanks for the advice, I have taken it and can now logon to the CRM
site without being challenged for credentials.

In Outlook I am now I am gettung the following error:

Your web browser options are currently set to disable cookies.
Microsoft CRM requires cookies to use the Web client. To enable
cookies, se e the online help for your browser.

Then:

An error occured loading CRM functionality. Try restarting Microsoft
Outlook. Contact your system administrator if errors persist.

Another setting in IE, I have not disabled cookies and thought those
settings only applied to the Internet zone?

Many thanks for your help.

Hi Kev;

Sorry, I'm not clear - did you allow cookies in the IE zone that your CRM
is in?

Dave,

As far as I knew the cookie controls only apply to the Internet zone.
Even when I reduced everything to allow all cookies I still had the
same issue.

After setting up another CRM user on the server, I deployed the
Outlook online client to another machine and Outlook worked without a
problem, the full CRM mailbox and tools were displayed and usable in
the users profile.

I thought it might be something to do with the add-ins I had on the
failing machine, so I removed:

Lookout
MSN Search
Newsgator
Sperry Software Add-in

After rebooting on each occasion and uninstalling and reinstalling the
CRM client I still had the same error.

I am beginninbg to think that on this particular machine which does
test a lot off apps, despite cleaning the registry with registry
mechanic, I am going to have to nuke the drive and reinstall XP SP2
and start over.

I would prefer not to do that so any other thoughts very welcome.

Thanks,

Kev

Not sure what to suggest. sounds like there could be a lot of left-over
stuff on that machine, and any of it could be conflicting with the crm for
outlook. I guess all yuou can do is uninstall anything that you can live
without, clean the disk and registry to get rid of unneccessary entries, and
try again. short of that, bring in the nukes.

I get the same error when opening Outlook on an XP Pro SP2 laptop (clean
install). But ONLY when I'm connected via my company's VPN, not when I'm on
the local network.

The error:
Your Web browser options are currently set to disable cookies. Microsoft
CRM requires cookies to use the Web client. To enable cookies, see the
online Help for your browser.

The laptop is not a member of the domain and logs in just fine to the CRM
when on the same network. The VPN concentrator is set to allow all traffic
to those authenticated through it. The Subnets (my remote network and the
company network) are entirely different Subnets.

I'm at a loss.
