    - Auto incrementing field in CRM 3.0 I need to create a field that is auto incremented every time a new instance is made. ie I need to make new records have a unique auto incremnting number. Doesn't seem to be easily possibly in CRM. Anyone got a simple work aorund? I did consider making a dummy record type called variables with one record in with a field call ref number and using that as my location for the next number to be got.     - Showing orders with a certain value of a bit field? I've included a custom field on the order form. It's a bit field with the values YES and NO. The default value is NO. Our employees use this field to tell the system, if an order has been complete and is ready for invoicing. (We do not want to use the system possibility of completing an order). I've made a custom view of orders, where the view criteria is, that the value of this bit field is NO. And another view where the view criteria is, that the value is YES.     - Attachment Support while Offline through CRM Laptop Client for Out We are using CRM Laptop Client for Outlook so that people are connected offline most of the time and they synchronize their data once or twise a week. The question is: Are attachments supported while connected offline ? I say that because I tried to access attachments available inside a Sales Literature item while connected offline but I couldn't see the attachments.     - Compare and Merge Two different CRM Instances We have two different CRM environments that we want to merge into one. My first step was to try and compare the different instances to see what the different were between them. I exported all of the customizations from each and performed a diff. Yuck. Since the customizations don't export the elements in the same order it looks like their are over 7,000 differences between the two files. Reality says that at best there may be 50-100. Is there any way to get these to output in the same order so that I can get a more realistic diff between them? The only other thought I have at this point is to try and do something with an xslt transform to get them sorted.     - Does MS have any plans to provide built in Telephony Integration in MS CRM? I've been working with Salesforce.com as well as MS CRM and currently Salesforce blows doors off MS CRM with regard to telephony integration. I do work for a phone company and integrating our TAPI based phone switch with Salesforce was a joy and resulted in a really high quality, rich interface. I'm just finishing up building a functionally similar integration for MS CRM and, while it is going to be a great product, the lack of any built in telephony integration support in CRM means it has to be bolted on and simply doesn't integrate as well.     - How to set default Opportunity field values upon Lead conversion When a Lead is converted to an Opportunity, I want the default value of closeprobablity to be set to 25% and rating to be set to cold (3). I have added Jscript code to the onchange event for the rating attribute in the Opportunity Form to handle connecting these attributes values. I have set the default value for rating to be cold (3) at the attribute level -- however; converting the Lead doesn't set the rating to cold.     - Update Rollup 2 for CRM 3.0 and related questions Hi All, our chief of sales is now tired of CRM being slow, and crashing on clients whole time, and I got the task. :o) I started a little research on Internet and different forums, and I am planning to install the last updates (both server and client), to make sure that at least we are running the latest software. We have a dedicated CRM server that runs only CRM: (3.0.5300.0). Our clients are connecting to it both via web and via Outlook. (but primarily Outlook, when out of office - via VPN) We have these combinations of OS/Office installed on our clients: (everything is English-version with the latest patches via Microsoft Update) a.) XP + Office 2003 b.) XP + Office 2007 c.) Vista + Office 2007 Besides that, we are using a QuickSearch tool. For the moment we have pretty many problems with clients crashing, and have tried installing the latest V3C client on some machines. But there were no structure in that work, so now we end up in a situation where on some machines XP + Office 2007 combination works well, and on some others it doesn't. I decided to put some structure on the whole thing, and would like to start updating the server with the latest updates, and then clients. But here is where I have some questions: _______________________________________________________ 1 - is "Update Rollup 2" the latest update for CRM; are there additional patches afterwards, and where do I get them? 2 - should I install the server Update Rollup 2 first, and then the client one? (CRM3.0-KB927751-Server-ENU, CRM3.0-KB927751-Client-ENU) 3 - if I install the server Update Rollup 2 first, would the clients that don't have the Update Rollup 2 be working? 4 - should I install different client versions for Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007? 5 - which client version (Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 clients for Microsoft Office Outlook Compatibility Update) should I install, "On Premise" or "Service Provider Edition"? "Service Provider Edition" should be the newest (11.2007.) ... Is it an update for a client that is already installed, or could one install just the "Service Provider Edition" version on a machine without CRM client previously installed? If it is just an update, what client version should I install on the clients before the update itself? 6 - a question not related to the update: one can upload a report generated in Excel 2003, but not when generated in Excel 2007? _______________________________________________________ Is there a "best practices" document on the issue(s) which I could download and read before the whole project starts?     - Multiple referential lookup in contact form Hi all, I've created a custom entity that is a referential of honorific titles (Sir, lord ...). In my contact form, I've 2 types of name : registration name and patronymic name. For both of them, I need to associate an honorific title, which can be different. So I've created a first relation 1 to n between my custom entity and contact entity, type of relation referential, for the registration name. But when I want to create a second relation (type referential) for the patronymic name, it fails, saying I cannot create more than one cascading relation. Is there a way to do this without using a parental relation ? I think of creating a copy of my custom entity, but then I lose the benefit of a referential... Anyone can help ? Thanks in advance.     - CRM error - Outlook 2007 Hi all, I am using CRM 3.0 laptop client with Outlook 2007. I had number of leads. I tried to convert them to opportunity. Leads got converted to opportunity, but before that I got a message as following - "The changes you made have been saved to Microsoft CRM, but will not be migrated to Outlook because Outlook is not running or CRM components have not been loaded by Outlook. I have added button that points to custom SRS Report, but don't know how to pass the info from the quote of focus to let SRS know which customer record to display when running the report. I believe I can prompt for this parameter in SRS, but this would be an extra user step; as they already have the quote form open. Thought about src attribute, but SRS isn't looking for url... If you set up a company policy to create cases for contacts all the time and not accounts they still get rolled up under the accounts. When you use the lookup view to try to find a contact to relate the case to and the contact isn't in there, the lookup has a "new" button which allows you to create a new contact. The problem is that on this form to create the new contact, there isn't a Parent Account field.     - CRM 1.2 database, but no CRM Server, new AD, needing to be upgrade We have the SQL database files from a 1.2 CRM installation. There isn't much data in it, but enough that we don't want to lose it. The client (on their own, btw) moved the data into a SQL 2005 environment on a new domain. Then they pretty much killed the old one, including their CRM 1.2 installation. They tried to apply the upgrade themselves, but it didn't work. Now we have to figure out a way to at least save the data and bring it into a 3.0 environment. It doesn't look like the redeployment tools will work, since the old server is no longer around. Hi Ahmed,

You can drag a folder from 'the small microsoft crm menu' to the favourits
(the upper left corner of outlook). This way you can easily access microsoft
crm folders you frequently use!
