    - Can I separate data out of a single instance of CRM Online? We have a group of separate organizations/companies that work together in a number of instances, and a "sales/management consultant," for lack of a better, non-proprietary way to describe the position, works with the sales teams at each of these organizations. He would like to pilot a CRM program with these organizations by using CRM Online. One easy way to set up this would be to have each organization/company represented by a business unit in CRM which the consultant can oversee. The concern, however, is whether or not the data for one of these business units/companies could be separated out from the others if they decide to start using CRM on premise. Is this possible?     - Changing the Owner of a sales order, resets all previous notes If I change the owner of a Sales Order, the time/date field of all the notes previously created against order will be changed to the time and date on which I changed the owner of the Sales Order. Is this by design? Can we make a change to stop this from occuring, as we in effect then loose any historical communication against the order from the time of this change..     - Can't track certain Outlook Contacts Hi, For one of my users (crm 3.0 - Outlook 2003), the 'Track in CRM' button does not appear for certain contacts. About 2/3s of the contacts are fine. I thought it might be contacts created in the Blackberry then sync'd to Outlook but that doesn't appear to be the case. I'm still working on finding a pattern, unfortunately this user is travelling a lot so it's hard for me to sit down with her and see what she's doing.     - outlook client startup security issue After doing an 3.0 to 4.0 upgrade last tuesday. 2 of our users who use the outlook client are getting an 'the logged-on user does not have appropriate security permissions to view these records or perform the specifiec action....' when they start up outlook.     - Anyone know how to rename CRM 4.0 Database Server? I've managed to do this once, but all I get now is a generic message: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.     - Moving from 3.0 to 4.0 - episode ll Hi based on Rob Mottrams and Patrick Verbeeten earlier answers to my postings - I now have the following plan; 1) From the production enviroment copy the databases (MSCRM and METABASE) to the test enviroment and restore them there on that 32 bit SQL server. 2) Run the CRM 4.0 installation on top of the CRM 3.0 installation in the test enviroment - (that way database, workflows etc. gets upgraded) the 4.0 install process also creates the MSCRM_config database. 3) Then move the upgraded databases (MSCRM, METABASE and MSCRM_config) back in production and restore them there. 4) Install CRM 4.0 on the new x64 bit servers and point during the installation to the upgraded databases. that should do the job - or? thx for any feedback!     - CRM for Outlook not displaying CRM contact form In Set Personal Options clicked "Contact" form to be displayed. So the MS CRM form should be visible. It shows up when using the CRM tool bar or CRM menu but when using Outlook toolbar it does not. In addition, when user clicks New>Contact they get the Outlook form that does not contain the Track in CRM or Set Regarding, View Regarding options.     - can't run report wizard I have created a custom security role for a project manager and gave him access to creating and publishing reports, among other things. when he goes to launch the report wizard, he gets a CrmCheckPrivilege failed error. I looked at the PrivilegeBase table and found the privilege id it is failing on, and it says PrvReadWebWizard. I'm not sure which privilege I need to give him. He has read access to everything in the system. If I add the Scheduler role to his user account, he is able to run the report wizard. Does anyone have any ideas?     - Jscript Hide Tabs Hi We have created a custom tab and inserted it on the service activity form. We would like this tab to be visible only if a certain service is selected. I have managed to hide the tab using the Onload event and the script crmForm.all.tab1Tab.style.display = 'none'; and I now have to display the field if a specific value is selected in the 'Service' lookup. I tried to use the following script in the OnChange event for the service lookup. if (crmForm.all.serviceid.lookuptype == 'maintenance') crmForm.all.tab1Tab.style.display = 'visible'.     - Activities sync with Exch or Outlook? We would like to be able to use CRM 4 to schedule our service work. In past versions of CRM, my understanding is the only way for an appointment, service appointment, task, etc. to appear on a technician/user's calendar was by using the Outlook client. The downside to this naturally, is Outlook would need to be running for each user for the sync to occur. Has 4.0 changed this to allow the sync to occur with Exchange directly (perhaps via OWA)? Our issue is most of our technicians we wish to schedule use laptops, which may not be connected for days to the network, so using the Outlook client really isn't a good fit for getting up-to-date appointments.     - Editing Workflow Rules Hello, I have a couple of rules that I am running in CRM 3.0 that create activities based on change events. For instance, one rule creates a letter activity when the status of an opportunity changes to from open to won. These rules seem to run perfectly until I disable them and then re enable them later on. They haven't been edited in any way, we just wanted to stop the rules from running for a bried period. When I re enabled them, they either run properly on some events or they don't run at all. My question is, would stopping and starting a rule cause problems like this? I have tried different variations on the rules to see if it was maybe the way I had the rule built, but it seems to happen on all of them.     - Error adding Products to an Opportunity Hi, I have just installed a new instance of CRM 4 All aspects of the system work fine apart from when trying to add Products to an Opportunity. When clicking on products from within an opportunity nothing actually happens - i.e. no window opens. In the bottom left hand courner of the opportunity it says error on page. Here is what the workflow did in 3.0: 1) Add date and time: Scheduled Start 2) if 3) Service Activity.<Service>="Subject A" 4) then 5) Wait for 1 day(s), 12 hour before Scheduled Start 6) Task: "New Task created" 7) else if 8) Service Activity.<Service>="Subject B" 9) then 10) Task: "New Task 2 created" 11) Wait for 1 day(s), 12 hour before Scheduled Start 12) Task: "New Task 3 created" 13) end if 14) Stop In CRM 4, Line 1 doesn't give an error. Lines 2& 3 also are ok, but as soon as I add the Wait in line 5, everything from the If on down becomes invalid. The error simply says "Invalid condition present. Click to specify new condition" I'm just getting started with 4.0 workflows and I'm guessing this is something obvious, but anyone have any ideas on why this won't work in 4?     - CrmCheckPrivilege failed error We are using CRM 4.0, which was upgraded from 3.0. I just added new security roles into an existing business unit. Then I added new users and associated them with the new security roles. When the user tries to log in, I get this error: SecLib::CrmCheckPrivilege failed. Returned hr = -2147220960 on UserId: 9b85226b-0254-dd11-8024-001b78d05d74 and PrivilegeId: 588725dd-c878-41c5a4c3-5efc93cd3ffd If I take a user that existed in CRM before the upgrade and associate them to one of the new security roles, everything works ok.     - Email Tracking CRM 4.0 Hi I am trying to set up automatic email tracking on CRM 4.0. I have installed and configured the email router and a forward mailbox - test is successful. I have also got 2 users where the incoming rule = forward mailbox. When i send an email from another user account in the same domain to a crm user on whose account the rule deployment wizard has been installed, the emails get to CRM mailbox but do not get promoted to CRM. Someone can help me to fix this problem?

A couple days ago, the CRM's botton which being addin to the outlook is not
working, and error messages are shown up when outlook is starting up:
"(There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft CRM server ...... An
error occurred loading Microsoft CRM functionality. Try restarting Microsoft
Outlook. Contact your system administrator if errors persist......)" . The
web-accessing for CRM is working.

How can I fix this problem?
