Hi all..

Have a (potential) customer here who wants to set up a MSCRM 1.2 install
across multiple remote sites, users in the remotes will be accessing via IE,
any recomendations on the best way to set this up???

Some of these sites will not have a dedicated internet connection / VPN
connection, is it possible to have multiple SQL servers syncing against the
master database on a schedule? Does MSCRM play well when it has been split
in to lots of small bits??? how is the exchange aspect going to get on with
all this mess????

Any pointers would be appreciated

Jay

Currently CRM uses a single SQL database. It is not possible currently to
have multiple CRM databases which then roll up into a main database. Right
now even clustering of two SQL servers is not officially supported. You
could expose your CRM web server to the internet and let your users in the
other sites access crm that way. Of course without VPN you would at least
want to enable SSL encryption on the connection.

John,,,

Thanks for that,,, do you know if they have any plans for a situation like
this in the future, cos lets face it it is not much of a crm system if it
all has to run off the one SQL server, what happens in the case of a
multinational???

Release 2, due March/April next year is due to have scalability
enhancements, as yet undefined

Microsoft currently aim CRM at the small- to mid-market, not multinationals.
CRM only does what it says on the tin!

Multiple Remote Office Sites by Ketil

We are in the same positions.

Some 30 users spread based in London, Houston, Dubai,
Kuala Lumpur, Oslo and a few other places. All users
travel extensively, often to remote places.

Our plan is to use the SFO in offline mode, and have the
users syncronize frequently.
