Reduce Title Logo/Pane for Emails
Hello,
I was wondering if there was a way to make the Title Logo/Pane smaller so
that there is more useful space for needed email information when opening and
viewing or creating new emails within CRM?

Upgrade to Vista/Office2007, Outlook Laptop client cannot go offli
User of CRM v3 had XP and Office (Outlook) 2003. Had been able to go offline
before but lots of problems.
New laptop with Vista and Office 2007. Now, he clicks go offline but the
synch gets stuck "Waiting for offline database initialization."
Eventually, Vista says Outlook stopped responding and wants to look on the
internet for a solution, restarts Outlook and nothing is different the next
time.
Any ideas?

CRM 4.0 Outlook client
I posted an earlier problem with getting Customizations option to show up in
settings when using the Outlook 2007 client.
I didn't get much help, so I am hoping that rephrasing my question will help.
I received one reply that said customizations were not available in the
outlook client, but I have seen it and have been able to get it to appear a
couple times in my Outlook. The problem is that no one knows what causes it
to come and go.
Once I was able to get it to appear by clearing the cache in outlook and
clearing cookies in IE. I have not been able to reproduce this one.
The other way is to go into the registry and go to My
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSCRMClient and change the
LightClient setting from a 1 to a 0. This will make it appear every time for
me, but then I lose the buttons such as New Activity, New Record, Track CRM,
etc.
I just stumbled upon this and I am sure this is not what really needs to be
changed, but it at least proves to me that I am able to get the
Customizations option on my machine.

CRM 4 Phone Call Report
I am putting together a report on Phone Calls. I would like for the report
to show the owner, activity status, modified on, account and notes associated
with the phone call. I have figured out everything except the Account
portion. When I created it orginally, I set the column properties as
Regarding (Account). This however, only showed the Account if the phone
calls regarding field was regarding an account. Some phone calls are
regarding a marketing list, campaign, etc. I would think the way to do it
would to have the column set to show the recipient, but I can not find this
option. Can anyone help? Hope this is clear. Thanks!!

CRM 3 Reports Neglected Leads Total not matching Detail Total
Hello All,
Hopeing someone can explain what may cause the following:
Report manager looks at the Neglected Leads Report for a specific user and
gets a chart bar representing a count of 57 for standard 30 day time period.
They then click on the bar to get to the Neglected Leads Detail report but
only 23 Leads are listed. This happens on other users as well.
Does anyone have a clue at what might cause this?

Need installation guide for installing a two-node sql sever cluste
Where I am working now, an individual did a poor job of setting up an SQL
Server Failover cluster and we must blow it away create a new one this
weekend. For installation documentation, I am only finding bits and pieces
in the books online and the knowledge base. Does anyone know of a book or
white paper that will walk you through setting up the cluster from start to
finish?

Display parent customer in activities view
Hello,
in our CRM version 4 we assign a queue to a task. This queue is
assigned to a contact. This contact has a account as parent customer.
In the activities view, we want to display a link to this account
(parent customer). Is this possible?
I could create a view based on field in the account, but I do not see
a way to display it in the list.

Hi
Just a simple quick question regarding campaigns. I have just created a test
campaign to familiarise myself with the campaign feature.
The question is when doing an email campaign when does the system send the
emails as the status is sitting at Pending at the moment and nothing is
happening.
I am making a presumption that it does not happen till the evening as not to
interfere with normal daily usage.

Look Up Address buton for Contact Entity
Hi,
I desperatly and urgently need some help. I noticed that there is a 'Look up
Address' button on the a quote in CRM. This button allows you to pick from
the 'more addresses' and populate fields on the quote form.
I need similiar functionality on the contact form. Within a contact, I want
a 'Look up Address' button. When the user clicks that button, I want to be
able to select any of the more addresses that have been entered for that
contact's parent account, and then populate the address info for that
contact.
My address fields are mapped between the account and contact. However when I
create a new contact from within the account, I don't always want to use the
default account address for the contact. It is often the case that I want to
use one of the more addresses of the account for the contact. I know how to
add a button to isv.config, but I have no idea on how to create perhaps a .js
with a .aspx page and then reference it in isv.config. Perhaps the existing
functionality that is used for quote can just be copied and then modified.
PLEASE can somoene help me with some detailed instructions / guidance.

Callouts not working in CRM 4.0
Hi,
One of our customers is going to upgrade from CRM 3.0 to 4.0. But there is a
problem with some callouts.
There are callouts for accounts, contacts en leads, which catch the
PostCreate/PostUpdate/PreDelete events, they used to work fine in 3.0.
But now we get the non-descriptive error: "an error has occured", when one
of these events occurs. (i.e. when trying to create a new account) (see:

No error messages appear in the eventviewer, I checked everything (including

Sending email to Task creator when task is completed
Hi all.
This is the scenario:
I open a new task and assign it to one of my employees.
The owner of the task is him now (let's call him Chris).
When Chris completes the task he goes to 'action'-->'close task'.
I tried to create a workflow where the creator of the task gets a
notification when Chris is closing it. However, for some reason, the only one
in the workflow manager that appears as an option to recieve a notification
mail is the Owner of the task. and since the owner of the task is Chris, then
it is completly useless.
Does anyone knows how i can solve this problem?

CRM 3 & Office 2007 on Vista
hello,
I was wondering if anyone has experienced a problem with synchronization
workflow generated tasks. These tasks are generated within a sales process in
order to update the "estimated revenue" when closing a task.
When synchronizing to Outlook apparently often (so not always) some of the
crm-fields in the Outlook form have lost their CRM information.
The fields "crmid","crmLinkState","crmRegardingId","crmRegardingObjectType"
en "Regarding" do not have any information.
The only fields that are still in it's correct state are "crmEntryId" and
"crmxml".
Fact is that when completing such a task, the crm doesn't get updated
anymore an d all tasks stays open within crm.
Thanks to anyone who could provide me info or a solution on this subject as
this gets quiet anoying for our sales people.

Opportunity 'Age'
I would like to be able to display an opportunity 'age' in the sales
pipeline and against the opportunity views.
The 'age' would inform the user quickly and easily how 'old' the
opportunity was, i.e. subtract current date from created date and
provide a number of days in a field. It would need to be dyanamic as
obviously as each day goes past the opportunity gets a day older.
Is this possible as it is a fairly basic requirement of most sales
managers. If so, how could I implement it in MSCRM 3.0?

Apparent Transformation size limitation
I've run into an issue where I get a 'Conversion Error' screen with no
exported errors when I try to execute the 'Replace' transformation on a
source data field that is more than 500 characters long. Is this a hard
limitation or can this be configured somewhere?
Any help here is appreciated, I haven't found anything on this anywhere
else.

I have just installed the outlook client and it is attempting to sync
tasks. I have 80,000 completed tasks and don't want all of those

CRM Install error caused by SRS/MOSS integration?
Doing an install of CRM 4.0 in a development environment running SQL 05 and
MOSS 07, each on its own virtual machine. The pre-installation checklist
returns only one error, which is a 401: Unauthorized error when trying to
access SRS. Trying to browse directly to the report server or report manager
while on the application machine results in an access denied error again. On
the SQL machine, where SRS is installed, browsing to the report server brings
it up without issue. However, when I browse to the report manager site, I
get the error:
â??The operation is not supported on a report server that is configured to run
in SharePoint integrated mode. (rsOperationNotSupportedSharePointMode)â??
Installed on the SQL machine is the SharePoint Integration for SRS piece
which is what Iâ??m guessing is causing this problem. Has anyone run into this
problem? I have found a lot of information about the error code but not
about installing with the environment set this way. Do I need to install SRS
to another machine as well and use that instead? Or would uninstalling the

Outlook Add in toolbar doesnt appear when i open the mail message
Hi all...
I have installed Outlook Add in on Office 2003 on a few computers.
It works on all of them but there is one comuter which the installation
works well and the Outlook Add in isntalls fine.
However, when i try to open a message so i can assign it to a CASE, then i
cannot see the "Track in CRM" and the "Regarding" button and there is no way
to add the toolbar of the Microsoft CRM.
Did anyone experiance this and knows how to solve it?

Phone Call Errors in CRM 4.0
Hi All,
Got a couple of errors in a recent upgrade from CRM 3.0 to CRM 4.0. The
upgrade
went smoothly and all users are logging on fine.
Problem one:- Users when accessing the phonecall entity and saving, the
screen is coming up with CRM encountered an Error send report to microsoft
(but still saving the record) - is this a db permissions issue?
Problem two:- When creating a new appointment the resources and accounts
fields are greyed out.

CRM 3.0 Workflow Manager app freezing
Our CRM 3.0 server's Workflow Manager app started freezing up for no
particular reason. No errors in the Event Log, the processor, memory,
and hard drive are all nice and calm, and the only way to fix it is a
complete reboot of the server. It's started happening more and more
and the app is more or less no longer usable.
Any thoughts on what to do other than a complete remove and rebuild of
CRM on the machine?

How to Analyze Microsoft CRM 3.0 Performance Testing

I have done the performance testing for Microsoft CRM 3.0. I have used
Visual Studio 2005 Team System development environment.
1. I created a web test with a scenario (login to CRM Server -> Go to
contacts -> Create a new Contact -> Open the created contact -> create a case
for the contact and Save). I recorded the webtest. Then I created the
Loadtest with 50 Users for a stipulated time. When I run the Load test, I am
getting the results (Requests/sec, Avg. Response time, Total Requests, failed
requests, cached requests, % processor time, available MBytes etc). But from
this, I am not able to analyze the performance of the application. Is there
any way of analyzing the Results.
2. Our CRM Application is integrated with MOSS. There is a dashboard link
which takes you to share point. I created a web test with another scenario
(login to CRM Server -> Go to Dashboard -> Click on the Contacts -> create a
new contact -> Upload two documents to MOSS). When i run the web test, it is
giving the below error.
a) Request failed: could not find file C:\Testing\.........\testing.txt
b) also in http://localhost/UploadDocuments/UploadDocumentsToMOSS.aspx, it
is giving "Requests not yet submitted"
The tool is not able to load test MOSS Upload screens
It would be great if you could give me a solution to my issues.

Automatic dot in fullname
My client uses the sorting order 'Firstname Initials Lastname'.
The field Initials is not available on the Contactform so my client created
a new field with the label 'Initials' (maybe because they come from version
1.2?).
The result of this action is that every fullname is displayed with a dot
e.g. John . Doe.
My hunch is that the original Initlas field is automatically filled with a
dot even no characters can be entered in the original 'Initials' field.
My questions: is it true that a dot is autmatically filled in the original
Initials field? How can I enable the original Initials field and how can I

CRM 4.0 and Outlook 2007 clients synchronizing forever.
We have installed some Outlook 2007 CRM 4.0 clients and after installing the
CRM client it seems that Outlook 2007 is synchronizing the folders forever.
A total restart of Outlook 2007 on the client computer is the only way to
get it up and running again.
All servicepacks are installed on the client.
Any solution to this problem ?

CRM 4.0 Workflow problems when changing long running workflows.
I've created some long running timeout-workflows which waits for a specific
amount of time after an update is done to my users entity, and then send's
an email to notify the user.
If I unpublish the workflow, makes changes, and publishes it again then the
old instances of the workflow continues running the old workflow, and new
one's are using the new workflow. That is ok, I guess.
My problem is that sometimes the old version of the workflow crashes and
sometimes it is running fine. I've found no reason why it crashes and the
error message only tells me to contact Microsoft.
A possible workaround is to cancel the running instances of a workflow
before changing them and then manually start them again after publishing the
new version. This is a lot of work, so I hope there is another way.

BCM to CRM 4.0 data migration
Hi there,
Has anyone done BCM to CRM 4.0 conversion?
Is there a tool exists to transfer data from BCM to CRM 4.0 like it has for
CRM 3.0?
Could you bring the Activity across to CRM 4.0?
The problem with BCM to CRM 3.0 conversion was that it will bring the
activity across but it would not link them back to correct accounts or
contacts records in CRM.
Please let me know if anyone here has done the conversion from BCM to CRM
4.0, the tool that you used and the challenges that you faced.

Track email in CRM - dialog box defaults
When in Outlook and you click "Track in CRM" and you go to set the
"Regarding" field, the search scope defaults to Account. Is there any way to
change this so that it defaults to Contact?
I've been able to change this on other forms by using something like:
var item = document.getElementById("customerid");
item.defaulttype = "2";
However, I'm not sure where I would add javascript to affect this dialog box
that is popped from Outlook.

lock account so account owner cannot edit
I have a client using 4.0 and they have assigned all of the accounts
to the sales person. The problem I am having is that only the sales
asst and system admin can modify the account name, etc. They want the
sales person to be able to do everything else from the open account
such as create a new opportunity, etc. If I remove write from the
role to the account entity, the create new opp box does not appear but
they can access it from another view. Does anyone have any ideas of

We have a scenario where CRM users will use the webclient to book
appointments with contacts within CRM.
My question is: Can appointment requests be delivered via the outbound
SMTP option?

We have an application that gets userauth like this

Dashboard: Tracking customer satisfaction levels
Dear Community members,
We've got CRM 4.0 running. We'd like to find ways of reporting the quality
of customer service levels from our tech support ( i.e. email support). We've
been infomed to create a "workflow" process to send out an email survey by
email when a case is closed.
What I'd like to achieve is a graph on my Dashboard showing the customer
service levels by "Very Satisfied, Satisfied, Neutral.." Similar to what is
shown on page 3 of the Customer Service - Ms Dynamic PDF brochure.
Does anyone else have any ideas?

How Should I Send Weekly Email to Cleints?
I have 100 Accounts that I would like to send a weekly email to.
What's the best way to do this in CRM 3.0?
I created marketing list and a quick campaign, but i needed to type the
email in each time (no template ability) and then the emails drop into my
Activities and I have to send them one at a time.
Another way I see is to send a Template email to multiple Accounts but then
I have to select the 100 accounts each time (no saved list ability)
Am I missing something? How would you do it?
I'm using the Web client only.
