Modified on dates

I have a rather peculiar situation. Every time a record (Opp, Acct,
Contact) is opened, the modified on date is updated to the current date
and time.

I know that updating roles will have an effect on the modified on date,
and we are in the process of working with Tech Support to clear up some
security descriptor issues. However, I cannot replicate this issue in
any other environment I have worked in or have access to.

Anybody else seen anything like this before?

Sales Processes can affect it as well. In addition have you got any custom
code running that might be doing updates?
