I have about 500 clients that we went to do a Mass Email to last week and
ran into several issues maybe there is a better way.

I setup a new email, selected 50 accounts at a time (couldnt select more)
but the problem is that if any account did not have an email address I
would get an error on the whole mail and have to go through and figure
out who didnt have one. Also, if the user was selected to Not be
contacted through email I wasnt sure if the email would be sent to them
or not.

I ended up hopping in SQL exporting the email address field, pasting it
into Outlook and sending it, unfortunatley it went to clients who were
inactive but that was the least of my concerns at that time. heh

Is there an easier way to do this, we have a quarterly newsletter and
security bulletins we would like to deliver and I dont want to really use
a list server product.

Thx

The first thought I would suggest is to set-up a view
which excludes clients with an empty email address. If
you into Home Page->Settings->System Customization, you
can find links to start customising views.

Not sure if this qualifies as easier, but you can click
the Excel button to write out your 500 clients as an Excel
spreadsheet. (first making sure that you are using a view
that shows only the clients you want, and has the email
address as one of the columns.)
(Also if you click the 'all pages' on the dialogue that
appears, all the clients will be exported not just the
first 50.)

And then import the Excel spreadsheet into Outlook either
directly or using a CSV file. From Outlook, you can send
your email using some of the third-party tools that are
around. This is probably simpler than hunting through SQL.

I think there is also a way to perform larger mass-mails
inside MSCRM, but I'll leave that to one of the more
experienced bods to explain.

Thanks Paul thats actually a pretty good idea which shouldnt be hard to
change the view on, i didnt even think of setting up a view by no-email.
I wonder if I can do it with the no-contact option too. Exporting to
excel and sending through a BCC group in outlook will work fine its only
500 messages so its not like some super mass email. It would be nice to
track the results though in the CRM so we know what works for marketing
guys.. but not the end of the world.
