    - Beginners Question Hi All I had a beginners question about CRM and this seemed like a good place to start :-) I'm looking at what constitutes a CRM application - in your mind. I've seen some references to people importing data from apps like Symantec ACT! (which, if memory serves, is an SFA application). As you might note from my sig, my company produces a help desk application (which I'm led to believe is another part of a CRM app). So, I'm left with the impression that CRM is a help desk app, an SFA app and some customer data mining tool all melded together.     - CRM1.2 web server I am doing an install of Exchange Router in the same domain as the CRM server but I am STILL only seeing the default web site. I tried this earlier with a trusted domain in a seperate forest, this problem reveals to now not be the trust but because I haven't got the Exchange Router on the CRM server. It works on SBS when installing on one box, anyone know of any issues with respect to it seeing the right web server when doing a medium deployment? It prompts during router installation for crm server name and URL. This is definitely working. However regardless of this it looks like its pointing at the IIS server on the installed machine, only offering me DEFAULT web. Please help with any suggestions. It is basically looking like the same problem BEFORE I attempted installing on an Exchange across a trust, but I see that isnt specifically causing this.     - Table Conflicts Hello All, I have installed CRM and all is working fine except that I hacve noted recently that through Enterprise Manager in my CRM Database I see several tables with the prefix 'Conflicts_TableName'. I believe these are due to some Replication Issues that are not happening. I believe its because SQL is configured to use an Domain Account - a setting that I had kept during Installation and currently I log on the system as the Administrator and not the Domain Account. IF that is the case how can I resolve this issue? and would it be SAFE to delete those Conflicts Tables?     - CRM Migration Hello, My question is about migrating CRM v1.2. If I have CRM v1.2 running on SBS2003 and build a new server running SB2003 with CRM v1.2, how can I migrate the data and accounts from the old DC over to the new DC? Pg 241 of the Microsoft Business Solutions CRM Implementation Guide say the following: "No trust relationships. Becuase only one domain is supported on a Small Business Server network, there can be no trust relationships with other domains. This restriction on trust relationships includes parent-child trust relationships. There can, however, be other domain controllers on the network" I looked at the AD migration tool, but when I saw the above item in the guide I had said hmmmmmmm.     - Creating letters or documents I have been looking at Microsoft CRM. It seems to be a basically good product but has one very big weakness. Whilst it is possible to generate emails from within MSCRM, most businesses still need to generate traditional letters. It should be possible ( and is in most other CRM applications I have used) to generate letters from within accounts, contacts or opportunities. This then brings up the opportunity to select from one of a number of (word) templates. The selected template then generates a document which is populated with the relevant contact / account information. The user then edits and checks the document. The document is saved and a note/activity is added to the account, contact or opportunity where the letter was originated from.     - Generating documents or letters from CRM I have been looking at Microsoft CRM and reading newsgroup posts. MSCRM has a lot going for it but has a couple of major flaws. The first is the lack of a feature to generate letters from within the CRM application. It is possible to do this with Email but most SME users will still rely heavily upon traditional written letters to send to contacts and accounts. It should be possible (and is in most other CRM apps I have seen and used) to generate a letter from either the opportunity, contact or account level. Selection should be allowed from a number of standard word templates which have the info from the contact/account also filled in. The letter could be checked and modified then printed or faxed. A note should be attached to the contact/account/opportunity with a link to the document. Unless I am missing something the only way of doing this at the moment is to create a document in word manually, save it then attach it to a note with a written summary in the note. This is unbelievably costly in time for a process which should be (and could be) mostly automated within the system. Does anyone know if Microsoft are going to add this feature in future?     - Changing the password for Admin Account I've changed the password to my CRM Admin account, and can no longer get any of the services to work. I've read that I have to create an account with Domain Administrator privilages, and have all the components of CRM (Exchange, IIS, CRM, SQL Server, AD) to run under this new account.     - Why can't my user view data I have two users - one is the manager of the other. They are both in the same Business Unit, of course. The manager has CEO role assigned to him. When the manager logs in, he does not see his employee's accounts, contacts, etc. even though his role gives him Organizational-level access to all data.     - Status Reason/Qualified Hello, We created a new view for our leads. We added a few more fields to the view so we could sort things a little differently. However, when we qualify a lead as a contact, they do not move off the Lead status screen and the status reason code says they are qualified.     - Creating aCRM activity from SFO I want to send an email that will create an activity for a CRM user. I took an existing e-mail that I had previously sent and clicked on "Promote to CRM activity." I thought this would assign the email as an actrivity to this CRM user. But when I looked in CRM Workplace, the activity did not show up until I looked under "Completed Activities." Why was the e-mail marked as complete? Maybe I don't understand the concept. How do I generate an open activity (something that needs to be followed up on) for a specific user from within SFO? Maybe what I really should be assigning is a "task." I'm so confused. Here are the details. I received an email from a client inquiring about services. I respond back to the client telling them we will get back with them with details. All of this was done outside of CRM. Now I want to assign the responsibility to follow up with this client to a CRM user. How the user follows up is not important (fax, phone, email). What I want to be able to do is 1) track that the user actually does follow up in a timely manner with the client and 2) be able to tie his action (however he follows up) to my orginal e-mail to this client.     - Customizing Activities Views? Been hunting for a solution to this for ages now.. Is there any way of customizing the Activities Views in the Workplace section. If you open the 'Activities' Pane in Workplace, you have a list of predefined views (Open Activities, Closed Activities, My Activities, All Activities) - is there any way to customize or all new views to this list? The question stems from the Workflow section of MSCRM; when you advance an opportunity through your workflow lifecycle, a number of automated activities are created which (given a number of opportunities) quickly clog up a users Workplace - and I'm looking for a way to show which opportunity these are activities are coming from; from the Workplace Activities view. So this question can also be answered by asking whether anyone out there knows how to configure the Workflow Manager to show the title of the opportunity in the subject of the created activities.     - crystal page server Hi I have installed CRM 1.2 on clients server but am not able to publish reports. In crystal configuration manager the page server is shown as stopped and won't restart. The event log shows the error message: 'The root server reported an initialisation failure.     - Outlook crashes when promoting mail Hi group, we have a problem with one of our SFO-Installments. When the user tries to promote am mail to CRM, Outlook dies and wants to send an error report.     - Crystal Services I'm getting the Crystal Error Message to Check to make sure we have enough licenses. The only thing I did that might have caused this is I installed the Full Version of Crystal Reports Professional on two different machines, even though I only have one license. (One is my workstation, the other is my laptop.) After I registered the second one, I got the license error. First, I noticed that the WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service was stopped on the server, and I started it, but that didn't help. Is there a specific sequence to restart the services? Second, do you think if I uninstall one of these report writers, it will take away the license error? Third, if I continue to have problems, should I call Microsoft or Business Objects for support?
