Reporting services not showing all
I installed CRM 3.0 on 2 diffenrent SBS 2003 premium servers and on each one
of them there seems to be a problem with the reports.
When showing they many times show no data or seems to sub reports I can
click and then they show some information. Some of the graphics aren't ok
either.
Anyone experienced anything like this.
And to say I had a lot of trouble with sp1 to sbs, had to add new spn to get
crm 1.2 working so that I could upgrade to CRM 3.0.
Anyone ?

Anyone done it? I'm about to move my database from Goldmine into CRM 3.0 with
the data migration tool, just wondering if anyone else has any experience
with this. Does it go smoothly? Anything I should look out for?

SQL Reporting Services not working - bad path
Hello all...again...
After installing on SBS SP1, when I attempt to open the report manager url:
http://myserver/Reports, I get the following error:
Could not find a part of the path "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
CRM\CRMWeb\ReportServer\reportservice.asmx".
This path does not exist. There is a CRMWeb\CRMReports folder, and the only
reportservice.asmx file on the machine is at:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\ReportServer
I looked for the "...CRMWeb\ReportServer" in all the usual
places...registry, .config files, but couldn't find it anywhere. Anyone have
any ideas on this?

Adding Users
I was just reading the implementation guide and I have a quick question.
After installing CRM 3.0, do all the users in the AD that have the ability
to log into the domain, have access to use CRM? or is there a certain group
that they need to be added too or do they need to be added into CRM?

Connection goes down in CRM 3.0
Hi,
I´m having a problem with the CRM connection. It doesn´t matter if i´m
accessing the CRM via iexplorer or via Outlook Client.
It seems like it gives some sort of time out session. I ask something and
then a loggin box shows up and I have to close the crm (outlook or the
browser) in order to restore the connection.
Any ideas to solve this?

Organization Settings Error
Seems like everyone is having a similar issue with CRM 3.0, no supprise then
whats following...
Problem: Error message to contact sysadmin when selecting either System
Settings or Fiscal Year Settings. (you can access Auto Numbering)
Tried: Changed expiry on server to immediately from 3 days. Rebooted both
server and client, with no fix.
Deleted all cached Internet files, with no fix.
Can anyone help ?? (my only other thought is to wait till Monday and see if
anything hanging in the system expires (3 days)). Any help greatly

The user authentication passed to the platform is not valid.
I recently had to do a rebuild of our SBS 2003 server. Since our backup was
corrupt I created a new 2003 domain controller - migrated active directory to
it - decommissioned my SBS 2003 box - created a new SBS 2003 Server and
migrated back to it. I restored the CRM Databases (MSCRM and Metabase) and
Crm worked fine after. Now 1 day later all of my users are experiencing the
following error when trying to log in from any pc and any user including the
administrator on the server.
The user authentication passed to the platform is not valid.
I performed a repair install of CRM to no affect. The weird thing is that
this was working after my restore and it just stopped. The only thing I did
was install a spam filter but that should have no affect on this system and
it worked fine previously with it.

Connection to CRM through http - CRM web access problem
CRM 3.0 client was installed for domain user in corporate network. Everything
works when laptop is connected to the corporate network (in the office or
through vpn). Everything means: CRM client in outlook and web access through
IE.
When I disconnect vpn - Web access doesn't work: it's trying to open CRM
page and then "Page cannot be found" - it doesn't ask for login. If I login
as a local user (not domain user), or from other laptop as a member of
different domain the Web access works fine without vpn just http.
What could cause this? And what is a difference for web access and
authorization to CRM 3.0 through http when I login to computer as a domain
user???

CRM 3 Customization for Construction
I own a small construction company and would like to customize Microsoft CRM
3 to include all information pertaining to a client in one place, including
request for proposals, purchase orders, change orders, and project
information by areas. Example if we were building an addition then we would
choose the client from either Accounts or Contacts and then drill down from
the project name (Addition) to the room names (side entrance), then all the
items in that room such as baseboard, flooring, windows etc. all in grid
lists, with the final screen a form that has all the details of these final
items such as supplier, color size etc. So 4 levels deep. We are also looking
at linking MS Project and MapPoint to CRM 3. Other Contractor related

Create recurrent services?
Hi,
I'm not sure how I should create this in CRM.
I have several support contracts that require for example, a 1 hour visit
every week, usually at the same day & time, plus, 2 aditional hours for
emergency visits.
What is the best way to achieve this? I can't even find which is the way to

Sync to local data in Outlook Laptop Client
we are setting up a number of laptops to have offline local data and have
modified the settings so that all data is downloaded rather than data
specific to the user so that they can see all customers, contacts, cases
etc.....
we want to set this up on a number of laptops though. Does anyone know of
any other way than modifying each sync rule on each computer?
Is there a registry / file setting somewhere than can be changed / imported?

(User in AD, CRMEmailEnabled, disabled, router configuration). Is it possible

Birthdays
I have a question concering the birthday field in Contacts. What do I have to
fill in there?
1. The date of birth, for example "1982-10-21"
2. The birthday, for example "2006-10-21"
When I fill in the 1982 variant, I don't get the person when I use the
Advanced Search option (search for birthday's within the next 7 days or
something like that). When I use the 2006 variant, I DO get the correct
results. But what happens when the date passes 2006-10-21. Does CRM

Question about web references in sdk development
I have been writing several objects for CRM 3.0 using a web reference
to access the crm entities. What I am wondering is how I redirect this
reference when I move the object from my development system to the live
site. Typically the web reference in my development environment will
be a different address to what it will be on the live site. Am I

Entering IP Address in the Configuration Wizard
At the end of the CRM Small Business Edition Configuration Wizard it prompts
for the URL of the installation. If you use the IP address instead, what are
the consequences?
On a related issue, what does it mean when the web client repeatedly prompts
for a username and password when opened on the server using the URL. It
eventually fails to 401 page. If the IP address is entered in the browser,
one username password prompts appears, then lets you in.
On workstations the URL opens right up.....
The server is a fresh install of SBS and CRM. All patches applied.

Trouble with importing from Excel
I get a data out of range with REASON ID 0x8004022c....Please let me know
what this is...
I am able to get about half of the speadsheet to import but it's giving me
that error...I'm doing it in Tabbed .txt type file because nothing else
works...
I wish Microsoft CRM would have it where it showed you which field was in
error...serious issue there...you'd have so much less work if it was built

Advanced Search results from multiple entities
Is there any way to have the advanced search results display information from
the related entities in the results list?
ie: I would like to perform an advanced search on opportunities, with the
filter criteria based on a value in the Opportunity Product list. I would
like to display the value from the opportunity product in the search results.
This is just a single example of a large number of "relational" searches I
need to enable. I have looked at writing individual reports for each of
these searches, but was hoping to save time by using the advanced search (if
possible)

Permissions Problems
Hello All,
I just setup CRM 3.0 on SBS 2K3 SP1 and I getting some security audit
failures.
I am a member of Enterprise Admins, Domain Admins and Administrators. I
used my user account to install the CRM, with no issues, and I am a member of
the Systems Administrator CRM Role.
These are the following symptoms:
1) Cannot login to CRM from server at all (401 unauthorized)
This is the failure entry in the security log:
Event ID: 537
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM

Logon Type: 3
2) Can login from external machine, but cannot actually access any entities;
when I click on "Contacts" I get an error dialog that says "An Error has

3) Finally, I cannot open the User Manager in the Deployment Manager. I can
open the server manager and the License manager, but when I click on the User

This might happen if it is currently unavailable, it is not a Microsoft CRM
server, or you do not have sufficient priviliges to run User Manager."
This results in both of the above security audit failure events being logged
successively in the Security Event log.
I'm stumped, please help!

Is there any way to retrieve a value from a parent object in jscript?
For example, if on the contact form I wanted to be able to validate a

Send Direct Email, Email Templates and Attachments
Hello -
In V3.0 it is nice that now we are able to attach a document to to a
workflow email. This doesn't not work however when you want to send a direct
email to a group of Customers. We still cannot send a direct email using an
email template AND attach a document.
Does anyone have any new workarounds for this or is it still just create a
webpage for the attachment and include the link in the email template?

Single user alternative to Goldmine or ACT!
My impression is the MS CRM is not intended for single user, with
Desktop and Notebook PC and database of 40,000 contacts.
Cost is also a consideration. What I know of MS Outlook with Business
Contact Manager does not appear to be ideal either, though I'd like
integration with Outlook and don't need Exchange.
Am I on track here?
Any suggestions for products I should look at?

Folks,
I receive email without line breaks at the end of each line. CRM displays
the text as one LONG horizontal line of text. Does someone know of a setting
where I can have the CRM email window automatically word wrap at the end of
the displayed window?

Passing Parameters from One DataSource to the Next for CRM 3.0
I am writing a report in Reporting Services (RS) 2005 I have one Data
Source extracting a values from one Database and another extracting
from another Database. I need to use a value from the first dataset to
use as a parameter for the next dataset.
I create a report parameter and set the default value from the query.
In the second data source i set the query as

I am executing a sproc, I have to use queries it doesn't matter the
issue is that that Parameter causes the report to fail.
All works just fine when in Visual Studios but when I go to Reporting
services to view the report I get this error.

.NET Assembly works, but not via Workflow...What am I doing wrong?

I am having an issue with getting the e-mail portion of this code to work
from workflow. I can get it working via a Win32 app (for testing), but for
some reason cannot get the code to run via workflow. The task creation works
fine (using both Win32 app and using workflow), but cannot seem to get the
e-mail to work. Workflow Monitor says all is well (but it is not). Anybody
have any ideas on what I need to do? My workflow service is running under
DOMAIN ADMIN and DOMAIN ADMIN is part of PrivUserGroup, SQLAccessGroup,
ReportingGroup, SQLRepl, UserGroup . Thanks for the help.

3.0 Upgrade Error
I am working on upgrading a 1.2 redeployment on a test server to 3.0. There
is a problem during the upgrade process. The log file reports the following

CRM client on a non-domain member PC?
Hi,
Does anybody know a workaround for using the CRM client on a
workstation that is not a member of the domain where CRM is installed?
It seems ridiculous that Microsiff require everything to be on a domain
to do anything!!
Basically, we have a very complex University site, with multiple
subnets, AD's independently managed, etc. We want some users who are
not a member of any domain to access our new CRM site, and others who
are members of other domains (not trusted with ours). They all use
Outlook 2003 using RCP over HTTPS and Exchange Server 2003 fine, and
we're rolling SMS soon as we've managed to obtain a workaround for SMS
2003 that does not require the clients to be a member of domain either.
I reckon that if I could get beyond the installer for the CRM desktop
client, it will probably work in theory, but obviously I can't even get
beyond the installation because it appears to do some sort of
enumeration of the local workstations domain membership and currently
logged in user (i.e. DOMAIN.COM\username), which it then passes to the
CRMSERVER.DOMAIN.COM:5555 site for checking permissions, etc before
continuing the install.
Is there anyway I can trick the installer using a VBScript to set a
'fake' variable for our domain membership - any CRM developers on here
that can help me with exactly how the CRM client installer enumerates
the local workstation???

how can I publish the changes made after customizing a form?
I have installed CRM Server 1.2 and I connect to my Home page from a WinXP
workstation with CRM Client (http://servername).
My user account has administrative privileges. However, when I customize the
form in â??Lead Customizationâ?? and add new values in the â??Lead sourceâ??
drop-down list (located in Details tab), I realize that I cannot deploy these
changes.
After looking for information in CRM help files, I have found the following
instructions:
â??After you have customized a form, perform the next procedure to ensure that
the changes you have made are saved to the database and will be reflected in
the product.
Publish a customized form:
1. After customizing a form, connect to the server on which Microsoft CRM
has been installed.
2. On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft CRM, and then
click Deployment Manager.
3. In the Deployment Manager, right-click the Deployment Manager node, point
to All tasks, and then click Publish Customization.
4. In the Object Publisher dialog box, select the check box for the form you

I have followed the steps above, but when arriving at step 5 no server name
is displayed and after clicking Add (still in step 5), the application hangs,
so I cannot select any Web Server (step 6), and finally I have to end the
task from Task Manager.
I have IIS installed in the CRM Server and also in the Exchange Server. All
the services related to CRM, Exchange, IIS, ASP, SQLâ?¦ are started and running.
How could I solve this problem of publishing?

Import Leads - Browser or Outlook?
Hello,
Just switched over to CRM from another product and want to import
everybodies contacts as Leads. My question is, is there a way of importing
the leads through Outlook, and if so, how. Or do I need to import them using
the Browser interface.
From Outlook, I cant seem to find any menu option from Leads to perform a
bulk import, just to create one lead at a time.

Customization Enteties. Assigning default value.
From the Lead form it is possible to create for example ne Opportunity
object. But the last is customized. It contains new attribute with, for
example, the datetime type. As default this value should be of the current

Get Offline Error
After making the get offline in a WinXP SP2 SFO, the sincronization is made.
After that, when we try to open the contact windows inside outlook, we get
the following error: METADATA CACHE ERROR. No entity.

Custom entity import
Hello, everybody,
Can anyone help me with the following question: apart from leads and
accounts we have some kind of pre-leads, i.e. the big list of names with
addresses which are then mailed, etc. This is not the lead, but can become a
lead after the person mailed expresses some interest. The objectives are:
1) Create new entity 'pre-lead' - done
2) Import there 3000 pre-leads from csv file
3) Be able to promote pre-lead to lead or account (just like we do this with
lead->account)
Problems: Can't find the way to import to this custom entity (only lead,
account, company are available as an option). Also suggestions how to
implement promotion pre-lead->lead are very much welcome! Is it possible at
all?

Cannot log on to the system After upgrade from 1.2 to 3.0
Hi
The CRM Server 1.2 upgrade to 3.0 and SQL Server 2000 sp4 in the Same box.
Windows Server 2003 SP1 Environment
After upgraded from CRM 1.2 and everything went good. When i tried to log
on to
the CRM 3.0 i recieved the following error:
Authentication Error Microsoft CRM could not log you on to the system. Make
sure your user record is enabled and that you have been assigned at least one
security
role. For more information, contact your system administrator.
I have checked the authetication is checked to Windows integrated but
received
the same error message.
Any help would be great.

Sitemap "Area" - Privilege
Is it not possible to lock down viewing of an area button (on the left
toolbar). In the SDK it states that you can only have "One per parent
element." and the parent element is sub area.
Am I understanding this correctly that you cannot block access to an area
with the privilege element.

Laptop Client user permissions
In version 3.0 of the CRM laptop client, does anyone know what the minimum
user permissions are to enable the offline functionality. Do special
permissions need to be given to the user to allow them to run MSDE? As power
user MSDE does not start.

CRM 3.0 via web browser
Hello
I have installed CRM server3.0 on SBS 2003 + sp1 and it is working properly.
SBS is installed in the environment of WMWARE and my company has also AD
"Falkon" with windows server 2003. I want to use CRM from web browser after
logging on the AD "Falkon" i can use and make changes in sharepoint portal by
using 162.9.134.132:8081 and with 162.9.134.132 i can see welcome page from
SBS 2003 but when i try to connect CRM via web browser using IP
162.9.134.132:5555 it ask me username and passowrd and after accpeting
username and password but Internet Explorer closed and noting happened, CRM
browser do not come.
Can you guide me to solve this problem.
