    - Marketing list member question Hello all I would like to be able to change the view of the marketing list members, so that e.g. if the list is a list of contacts I can display their titles, departments and emails. I also wondered whether it would be possible to associate a field with a marketing list member (e.g. a description field explaining why they are on the list).     - Microsoft 1.2 to 3.0 Migration... SOS! Hi All, We're attempting to migrate a test enviroment, currently running Windows 2003 Enterprise Server and Microsoft CRM 1.2. During the upgrade advisor I get a warning message stating the following: Microsoft CRM Database ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Warning: The Indexes on the Microsoft CRM database are not consistent with Microsoft CRM 1.2 indexes ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We've never did any customizations on the Microsoft CRM databases therefore all indexes should be "out of the box" unless a hotfix messed with them. I proceed with the installation anyways and get the following error during installation. Installation Error Message: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup;Server.INstallDatabaseAction Failed. The Index 'ndx_entity_name' is dependent on column 'Name'. Alter Table Alter COLUMN Name failed because one or more objects access this column. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm assuming this is directly related to the warning I received during the requirements check. I've tried removing the index 'ndx_entity_name' but during another install attempt I get an error saying the index is missing... Ugh! Again, we never played nor changed any tables, indexes, or procedures within the Microsoft CRM databases. Any help would be greatly appreciated!     - Picklist and Status values Greyed out I am trying to edit/change the values in the picklists/status reason attrubutes values in the Appointment, Case Resolution, E-Mail, Activity, and Task entities, however all values in the state/reason value fields are greyed out. Is there any reason why these are blocked from being customised. I have Administrator plus all roles priveleges, so role security should not be an issue, unless there is some conflict happening in this situation(defect).     - workflow to monitor custom status change and assign entity I am trying to make a workflow so that on the change of status a service activity is assigned to another queue. The status is a custom attribute (picklist) called Billing Status with 'billed' and 'waiting for billing' as the options with the default null. I created a workflow and am able to make a manual one that does what I want. It checks for the Waiting for billing status and if it sees it it assigns it to the 'waiting for billing' queue. I have made a timed workflow for 1min on creation of a service activity to run the subprocess of the above. that works only if I manually apply the rule and it only applies to the service activity I have open... not the others with the waiting for billing bit checked. I understand that this is a component to the recursive workflows (I think). But I cannot figure out how to make a workflow that will ALWAYS be on the look out for this single attribute change that does not need to be manually run. I have made workflows with all of the other options (Manual, assign, create and change status) I would have assumed that the 'Change Status' rule event would be the one I want, but nothing I try works. I am beating my head against the wall with this one... well, more then just this one... but this one in particular. Also, if anyone can suggest a better way of 'marking' an activity (this will apply to tickets and possibly phone calls if I can get the service activities working right) as 'waiting for billing' or otherwise notifying someone that the activity is done. The reason I did this instead of just closing a service activity is that after closing (resolving) it you cannot reopen it. I do alot of sub work for a company and the tickets are assigned to the account regarding the contacts associated to the account. They might have similar subjects and similar dates and contacts. It gets confusing and I like to make it as easy on my book keeper, who is already riding me ofr other MSCRM issues anyway. The way I am doing it is, I mark it to be billed, she bills and and marks it billed, then I close the activity. Then I know from start to finish that it has been closed, it shows up in the advance find saved queries (why oh why can't you link directly to a saved advanced query?) and is farily fault tolerant. If I can get the added feature of assigning it to a queue, then the workflow that... well... works, I can then add additional actions like creating a task and sending an email to the book keeper that there are activities to bill.     - CRM 3.0 Updating Price lists and Adding new Products, Subject We have almost 2000 products and since our original install of 1.2 we have gone from 4 price lists - List, Dealer, Quick Pay, Preferred, to List, Dealer,Quick Pay, Preferred Dealer, Preferred QuickPay, Volume We have also acquired another couple of companies and hundreds of new products, not currently in our system. We have just upgraded to 3.0 and now are in a quandry on how to best update the product and pricing modules. We think we can updae the the exisiting products with an import synching the id's and their prices. Howeve, we need to add in the 100's of new products, add in the new Subjects et al in a timely import type manner - not manually as the time would be daunting and time consuming - let alone costly as we would have to hire temp staff to bang away at typing these in. Is there a third party product out there to deal with this? I am sure we are not the only ones with this problem. Please let me know ASAP as we need to research it right away, or hire programmers to develope our own SDK at great cost! This it turning into a nightmare! Thanks!     - Company calendar & scheduling activities These are my issuesâ?¦ itâ??s not the views Iâ??m so concerned about; it is the process of scheduling. Itâ??s ridiculous (see #4). 1. Can you change the default "resource view" in the shared web calendar? This view is wonderful for our corporate office; however, it is unnecessary for our other offices. It just confuses the users even more. It's just too much to look at. I want to change the default calendar view based upon facility location. 2. We have created different drop down shared calendar views for each office location, but it does not combine the users and resources. It is either a view with that location's equipment or a different view with that location's users. Can a combined resource/user view for each location be created? 3. I have been looking into third party add-ons. I came across an Austria company who has created Group Calendar. I read through their .pdf and I like the navigation face lifts and the ability to right click and add instant notes; however, it does not from what I see improve the process of scheduling resources. Does anyone have this add-on? 4. For our application, scheduling of a service activity is cumbersome. Different locations have different assets; however, we have equipment which is shared and shipped between the facilities. We had to create a service activity for each location- e.g. Demo- AL, Demo- NY, Demo- FL, Demo-Share, Installation- AL, Installation- NY, Installation- FL, Installation- Share, Service- AL, Service- NY, Service- FL, Service- Share... you get the point. The list goes ON. We were instructed because one location has a set of resources and they are not supposed to schedule another location's resources we are to create our service activities like so (for each facility). The reason why we have the XXX- Share activity is for our shared assets. With each service activity a rule must be created... "Chose 1, Choose 2, etc..." With an activity either a user or an asset can be scheduled. The resources take such a long time to load in the form assistant and if you don't schedule it right it can be very frustrating!!! Is there an easier way? For example, if something changes with a project and we end up not using one piece of equipment, then we have to delete the entire resource line and pick the correct "choose #." In addition with the shared assets we have to change its office location each time it ships out in order for it to be schedulable at another facilityâ??s location. Is there a better remedy?     - Load balancing-Redirect URL break reports while access CRM via Out We are planning to have a load balanced environment for CRM application server: Prod1 and Prod2. We have created a redirect URL: crm.<companyname>.com which if launched will redirect to Prod1 or Prod2 based on the Load Balancing configuration. Our report server and db server are on one server ProdDBserver.Here is the issue: When we are installing the CRM SFO client it asks for the URL so we gave the URL: http://crm.<companyname>.com. This redirects to the application portion of CRM within Outlook, but breaks the reports availability through outlook. The application works fine if accessed via the web client.     - Security Roles After opening the Security Roles page, I'm atttempting to create a security role. The 'Actions' button does not appear where I can create a new role.     - Sample Data To All: I would like to install the sample data, but am a little unclear as to the ramifications. I currently have a fresh install of CRM 3.0. I have only run the configuration wizard, which makes some minor changes to the existing database with information about our company. The Implementation Guide shows how to install and then uninstall the sample database. I notice that CRM creates the following databases in SQL Server: MyCompany_METABASE MyCompany_MSCRM What should I do so that I might install the sample database and then be able to unistall without having any major issues. Will the sample database alter the two databases I have listed above? If so, can I back them up and then restore them once I am done with the sample?     - CRM publishing w/ISA 2004 on seperate server Hello, I have CRM installed on a Windows 2003 SP1 box, with protocol 5555. I also have a SBS 2003 w/ ISA 2004. They are two different servers. I created a rule in ISA for 5555. Created a web listener for 5555, but nothing for SSL as 443 is being used for other SBS web sites. The published web site is set to go to the directory called crm. In other words, http://sbserver.XXXX.com:5555/crm. The publishing rule is forwarding packets to my CRM Server. The CRM server responds by asking for authentication. Login is succesfull. It takes me to the redirect page which then pops up the new window for CRM. The problem is that the new window displays, page cannot be found, 403 forbidden. The address is is trying to open is http://sbserver.XXXX.com:5555/loader.aspx. Notice that the crm part of the directory structure is missing. Even if I manually put in http://sbserver.XXXX.com:5555/crm/loader.aspx, it does not work. What am I missing here? Is the problem that I am not using SSL?     - Recipients getting winmail.dat files when outlook set to plain text Using CRM3 and the Outlook client. Email accounts are POP3 not Exchange. Just started using this set up. When sending an email to a client I am clicking on 'track in CRM' and associating the email with an account then sending from within Outlook (as apposed to using the CRM web interface). My email format in Outlook is Plain Text. Recipients not using a MS reader appear to be getting the emails as Rich text because they are getting the old winmail.dat file which they cannot read. Not totally sure but I think this only happens when there is an attachment (eg pdf). I do know however that if I don't 'track in CRM' the get the email in plain text and can read it.     - Customize Campaign activity Hi, I would like customize the campaign activity form by replacing actualend and actualstart formats by "date and time" instead of "date only". This customization is not a problem but when I want to close the activity, the dialogbox ask only the dates. In the form, these fields are in read only. If we allow writing, when we change the date in the dialogbox, these values overwrite the values in the form. Anybody knows how to resolve this problem ? I think it is a bug. Thanks for your help.     - Rule Deployment Wizard can't connect to AD All We're new to MSCRM v3 and are very impressed so far. Having one problem though with the Rule Deployment Wizard in that it's saying that it cannot connect to the AD for the specified domain (SBSSERVER). We've tried changing the account which the Email Router Service starts with to an account which has full access but still we get the same error.     - Area "Settings" disappearing on web webclient Hi, one of our users is having problems with one of the area buttons (Services,...). At least once per day the "Settings" Button is disappearing, although the user has the rights to view the settings. When the user manually deletes temporary internet files and cookies the "settings" button is there again. This maybe be temporary workaround but one of our customers has the same problem. There is also an user defined button disappearing. So that not a solation at all.     - Relating multiple accounts on custom entities Hi, I have a question here; I have a custom entity project; what I would like to do is that I can link various accounts and contacts to this project. Obviously, there can be more then one project where the accounts and contacts can be envolved in. How should I accomplish that, I made the project entity and added a relationship to accounts; then I was able to select 1 account in the project and under the accounts, the projects was shown, thats good, but what if I wanted more then one account to be involved in this project. If CRM is online everything looks right, but if the connection to CRM is offline Outlook freeze with each input of data. Then I have to shut down the task. I have installed the Outlook client on most of our machines (the offline-enabled version on laptops, and online-only version on desktops). All computers are running Office 2003.     - Inventory Site/LocationCode Order Lines on MSCRM1.2 to GPS8.0 We are currently running MSCRM 1.2 and GPS 8.0, with the MS Integration between them. Our Sales force uses various Inventory locations when placing orders within our GPS system. Because of business reasons we can't consolidate into a single Inventory Location as the Integration documentation suggests. The documentation allow says that it only supports the use of one Inventory location, which you set in the "Settings and Administration" tool. It appears that you can modify the BizTalk Mapping for the SalesOrderDetail channel to route a value from a custom field in MSCRM to the LocationCode field within GPS. Finally, here's my question. Where in the process is the "Default" Inventory Location set? If it's done by the COM object that writes to GPS then modifying the BizTalk Map would make no difference, right?     - Easily create "long" picklists Hi all: Have you ever created a pick-list with a significant number of entries, and gotten pretty sick of adding items one at a time in the MSCRM GUI? I faced this recently when I had a customer ask me how to easily create a pick-list with all the countries in the world in it. So I thought it would be a fun project to try to automate this.     - Integration Falls Short After reading through the documentation for the new GP to CRM Integration Connector . . . it appears to still fall way short! Just basic stuff. VERY DISAPPOINTED as I've been waiting for a decent MS CRM product since we started using CRM in v.1. Integration still doesn't do basic stuff like include a sales rep's name on an order, linking territories between the two systems, dealing with account addresses correctly, etc. This whole MS CRM experience has been a nightmare that unfortunately I can't wake up from. Even outside of integration, the product still falls short in the basics. I need a popup window to let the user know that the field in the mail merge template is "null". The user does not want to have to read the document to make sure that all database fields are there.     - Outlook client for CRM 3.0 - can't find the server?! Hi, I'm trying to install the Outlook thick client for CRM 3.0. I'm going through the install and when it asks for the location of the crm server, I put in the location but the pre-install checklist says it can't find the server. I can take the exact URL and copy and paste it into a IE window and CRM loads up immediatly, no problems. Any ideas why it can't find my server?!?! I've also verified that the Exchange server (appears) to be setup correctly, I can send and recieve emails just fine using an Outlook client. We are having that error message in a Web Application that runs in the CRM
Server. It's a Web Application with some related picklists that refresh some
data into a CRM Web Form. When we select some data in the first picklist we
receive this message. There is a KB about this
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831150), but we can't solve the problem
because in the KB it's written to contact Microsoft to obtain a Hot Fix.
