Hello Michael,

I am having the same problem, or same question! I also believe it should
be possible to attach articles or other files. Could somebody help us with
this?
Thank you very much

I have been able to include links to external websites by simply pasting them
(http://www.whatever...) into the article text.

I have not figured out how to include a link to a file on our server (as a
way of working around not being able to do attachments).

I read in another article here that one can copy (ctrl-c) an image from a
website, and paste it (ctrl-v) into the article. That seemed to work, but it
means you are stealing bandwidth from the server where the image resides.
Fine if it's your own server...

Like you, I cannot believe it's not possible to attach a document or image
to a KB article. Alas, it appears that is the case, though.

Same thing for me.

I can include a link to a .pdf that does have the images, but I feel like
they should go right in the CRM KBA.

Trying to show screenshots of a software install and also .jpgs and other
image files.

There's gotta be a way!!!

Has anyone created a third party component for this?

I've also tried using Word to Save As .html, .mht or .xml but for some reason
it seems that it has to be an actual website.

Hear Hear!! KBA's are not cutting it. I get the impression they were an
afterthought.

Furthermore I'd like to be able to build a list of keywords. When you
author a KBA you just click the radio buttons next to each keyword that
apply. This would keep the language consistent and prevent missing an
important article due to syntax.

Michael Faden - Maybe you should re-author this post as a "suggestion to
MS." I'm sure it would get some votes.

Thanks!

We have the same problem over here in France : impossible to add a picture in
the knowledge base! Incredible! a picture is worth a thousand words! how come
can this be possible!!
Has anyone found a third party componant developped to correct this...let's
say it : bug!!!
We obtained the same conclusion : you can copy a picture from an actual
website but no Ctrl-c ---> Ctrl-v into a knowledge base article from a
picture stored elsewhere.

Is the Knowledge Base at all configurable? It seems to me the answer is no.
We had to link KB Articles with Products etc, but the KB does not even appear
in the list of customizable entities.

Thx

How about using an email template instead - we have inserted pictures in here
OK and they are just as easy to insert.

Anyone know how to paste a picture in an email outgoing from within CRM? it
simply won't go in

Cheers

I've been trying to convert *.doc file to KB articles. This process
works, as long as I use IE6:

-Save the *.doc file as a web page.
-Go to the images folder created by Word, right click on a *.jpg file,
and select Open With, Internet Explorer.
-Right click on the image in IE and select Copy.
-Open the KB article and Paste.

The problem is, all but 2 of my staff have upgraded to IE7, and this
won't work. This my be why some users have found pasting works, and
some haven't.

If anyone can shed any light on why this doesn't work in IE7, or
suggest a work around, that would be great.

Martin

As odd as it seems, copying and pasting an image from a web site seems to be
the only way to embed an image into a KB Article. I'v created a /images
folder on a local IIS box where I place images I need for KB Acticles. I've
set the folder to allow directory browsing. When creating an Article, I
browse to the image I need, copy it, and paste it into the Article where I
need it. I works great in IE 6 and 7.

I've quit looking for other solutions because this works. Hope this helps.
(if it did, please let me know)

It is a shame that MS let us all search for such "dirty" workarounds,
but it is great to hear that your one works - I will just go ahead and try it
in our envirement.
