Hi Brian
My project to replace ACT with MS CRM demanded a fast track solution. Having
found the CRM install itself very straight forward I turned to the data
migration. This was proving to be by far the most time consuming part,
especially as ACT allows users to hack however they want into the data
model(?) of ACT.
After some searching and reading of this newsgroup I discovoured ScribeSoft
and their product Migrate.
I purchase the product and training and installed the software. Within a
very short time I was making practise migrations on our test environment
with some marked success.
I then discovoured that there were free templates on the Scribe communty
site and per chance I came across a template specifically for ACT to MS CRM.
This tool has saved me days, if not weeks, of work and worth every penny of
it's $995 price. What's even better, is that's it's not just a one off tool
for migration, it has many other purposes to where transfering data from one
format to another is required.
You can find Scribe Migrate on their website at www.scribesoft.com If you
ask nicely they'll even let you download a demo version for free which will
transfer up to 100 records.
