Trying to open SOME activities the system goes in timeout and the "event
viewer" report the error below.
Trying to update the same suspicious activities with a C360 tool, the system
prompt for an "XML parser error"
With other activities all works with no problem

I just installed CRM 1.2 on Windows 2003 Server successfully.
When I go to http://localhost, the CRM site comes up, but when I go to the

Sales for Outlook v1.2 - can't go offline, render detail forms.
I can't get the CRM Sales for Outlook application v1.2 to
go into offline mode. Also the detail forms don't render,
I get the error form (more information below).
Access to the CRM server v1.2 works fine from the web.
I am running Windows XP Professional on the client and
Office 2000 SP3 with the hotfixes applied.
On the server I have CRM v1.2, SQL Server 2000 and
Exchange 2000 installed on the same system that is a
child DC (native mode) of a parent DC running in Mixed-
Mode (mscrm.ardexus.com). I am aware that installing
everything on the same machine/DC is not officially
supported but read some posts saying that it works for
them.
When I press the "Go Offline" button on the Outlook
client I get the following message: "CRM Sales for
Outlook cannot go offline. The logged on user does not
have sufficient privileges, or the Microsoft CRM server
was not found."
I can see the view data in Outlook (Accounts etc.) but
when I double click a line item, the details form does
not show, instead I get the error form "Error. An error
has occured. For more information contact your system
administrator."
The client install went fine without any warnings. I have
turned on the debug mode in
\Client\res\Web\web.config => <add key="DevErrors"
value="On"/>.
The details of the error (after enabling the DevErrors
mode) are:
Could not find file "F:\Program Files\Microsoft
CRM\Client\res\Web\_xslfiles\1_Update.xsl".
It appears that the files from \Microsoft
CRM\Client\res\Web\_xslfiles\ folder are missing. I think
that they should be downloaded dynamically from the CRM
server but for some reason that does not happen. The only
file in the folder is dmupdate.xml.
Have you encountered this case before? I could not find
anything related to that on the newsgroups, or Microsoft
Knowledge Base.

Offline post-callouts?
Hello,
We're using a post-callout to add some business logic to the MS CRM,
but now we want that business logic available to the Outlook client
when working offline as well.
We've installed the COM+ component on a test client, and registered it
with CRM, and it gets called at the appropriate time, but it doesn't
work: the component blocks when trying to create a CRM object (e.g.
BizUser). An alternative would be to access the local MSDE datastore
directly, but we can't figure out how to do that (we always get
"connection refused").
We're unable to find any documentation about how to use the
post-callout mechanism. Is it even possible? If anybody could shed
some light on the situation, we'd really appreciate it!

Failure during installation
Hi!
I've experienced an odd failure during installation. A
dialog pops up with the following message:
Setup was unable to unregister the security service.
The dialog contains three buttons Abort, Retry, and
Ignore. I ran across this last night. I tried retry
several times. Then, I chose ignore. The net effect was
that the CRM security service wouldn't start.
So, this morning, I am attempting to install again. I have
run across the same error. Can someone give me a clue on
this one?

I've spent 3 days installing and uninstalling and
rebuilding from scratch to get version 1.2 installed on a
clean brand new dell 1750 running win2k3 with sql2k sp3a.
No luck. Nothing but errors. I've been through every
single knowledge base article and every single news group

cannot get this program to even install. Has anyone out
there managed to install this on win2k3 running sql2k sp3a
and have it work?

Anyone know how you can retrieve an accountID using the SDK?
The idea of what I want to do is verify a contact's login against
their account.. then want to create a case or modify a case in their
account,, in order to create the case I need the accountID, but how do
I retrieve this?
Seems the Retrieve method of crmaccount REQUIRES the AccountID as part
of the method.

When I try to run a report in CRM 1.2, I get the following error:

CRM client manual removal or over the top install
I need to manually uninstall the CRM client for outlook.
The user profile that was used during installation has
been overwritten with another profile, so i cannot use the
add remove program files uninstaller. I cannot reinstall
over the top as the app is already on the machine and it
won't let me.
How can i manually remove the client or force it to
install again over the top.

Installing 1.2 and getting SQL error...
Help!
I am trying to install 1.2, but I cannot seem to get
around it trying to create the CRM databases. I am
installing on a 2003 Server and my SQL 2000 is running on
2000 Server. During the installation wizard I am able to
connect to the SQL server and there is seems to be no
difference on which account I setup, local, Domain, etc.
The error occurs as soon as the installation starts and
is as follows:
Setup was unable to install Microsoft CRM Server.
Setup was unable to create the Microsoft CRM databases.
Failed to run script:00 - create mscrm.sql.
HRESULT:80040E14 Unknown error. (80040E14)
I don't think it matters, but this server had 1.0
installed on it and the databases for the installation
were created to this same server just fine. I have
uninstalled that version and deleted those databases
since that installation did not work on 2003 Server.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

can not send email with an image
i wanted to send an email to multiple contacts with an image that can be
seen at the body part of the email. so i created an email template but could
not add the image file to the body of the email. since i could not attach
the file, i opened the image file with internet explorer and i drag and
dropped the image on the email template. it looked all right. the image can
be seen on the template. but when i sent it. the recipient could see no
image but the red x sign.

We want to create a post callout for an activity phone
call. In the post callout code we want to update a custom
field called CFSlastphonecall on the account record that
is associated with the activity phone call.
The question that I have is how do we make sure that we
are using the users credential infomation to update the
account record.
Normally the credential code I use to initialize the
BizMerchant and User objects is like the following:

do this then the account record that gets updated will
have the lastmodified by field set to the crm admin
account and not user who updated and saved the phone call
activity.
Is there a way to use the initiating callers crm
credentials in the com+ settings or C# code?

Microsoft Search
Hi,
I posted this in SQL newsgroup and got a suggestion of
turning off MS Search; however, I wanted to make sure
it's not needed by CRM before turning it off.
I'm running 1.2 on a box with W2k3 Ent, SQL 2k, and
Ex2k3. The past week I started noticing the hard drive
and DVD-ROM lights lit up every sec nonstop. It just goes
on forever. When I checked EV I found that MS Search was
running every 15 minutes lasting 6 seconds each time. Is
MS Search needed by CRM? I don't have anything else
running on SQL except for CRM.

I have still the same problem and I still can't find a solution...
Situation:
- We worked with the sample database "Adventure Works Cycle"
- Since Monday we have a new licence key that works only with our company
name
Questions:
1) How can I change the company name to get the key work? (I think this
isn't possible...)
Second Possibility: I installed the MS CRM Professional 1.2 (German) again
with the right company name. But then the existing database cannot be
connected, because it belongs to the Adventure Works Cycle company.
2) How can I connect the database with the new company?
3) Or how can I 'migrate' the existing MS CRM database to the new MS CRM
database?
I read parts of the DMT Guide... I could not believe that I have to do all
of these complex steps to migrate data from CRM to CMR!?!? I only want to
register MS CMR! Nothing else...

Activity -- problem opening existing Activity
We are experiencing a problem when trying to open certain activities. The
activity will not open and eventually we get a timeout.
What we have found is that in the ActivityPartyBase table for these
activities, instead of a few entries for the particular ActivityId, there
are over 15,000 entries each with the same ActivityId but different
ActivityPartyId values.
It seems that the inability to open the activity in CRM is due to all those
records in ActivityPartyBase. This is only happening periodically with a
small number of activities and appears to be random.

On the Contract List form you have Tools/Advanced Find
Option but if you go into the details of a single
contract you lose the Advanced Find menu item.
I would like to be able to hook up Advanced Find to this
form. Has anyone done this sort of thing (not that
particular customisation but that kind of customisation).
I'm telling myself that they are just aspx pages so it
should be no big deal, except for the fact that simple
customisations are stored in xml files and therefore
there is that added layer of complication.

Hi all,
I would like to create a new database/table to save information on the
Oppurtunity -> Competitor/Partner form to the local MSDE when a user
is offline.
When the user goes online again, I would like to set up the
replication so that the data (Competitor/Partner information) stored
locally on the MSDE is synched back to the CRM Database (in which case
I think I'll have to add a new database/table to the CRM Datastore as
well, since it does not have the table I want).
Is something that can be done? If yes, anyone have any ideas of how to
