    - Completing CRM Appointments in Outlook Hi Guys, Just a small question. Just wondering if there is a way to complete an appointment in outlook. Basically, when an appointment in outlook is synchronised to CRM, CRM will leave the status of the appointment set to scheduled. It would be nice to stay in outlook at a high level and be able to complete the appointment without having to dive into the CRM appointment record.     - Merging 2 Really Large Contacts or Accounts I've found that when trying to merge 2 really large items, ASP crashes and a rollback ensues ending with the Service /Application Unavailable message. These would be contacts with 10k activities, Accounts with hundreds of sub-accounts, etc. This also happens with reassigning user records for users with hundreds of thousands of associated records.     - Fetch and deletion I am trying to delete relationship through sdk and insert them back in. I am doing a fetch and then doing a delete. The Fetch returns the one which are deleted (deletionstatecode = 2) before also as well as the ones which I want to delete (deletionstatecode = 0) . How can I filter that. Right now it is not harmful as the service.execute throws an exception that object not found, and proceeds the insert. I want to know how I can avoid the stale data in my fetch. Looks like the deletionservice does the clean up, but want to avoid this situation, if I am running before the deletion service.     - Create new lookup How do you create a new lookup field? I want to make a new lookup field on the opportunity page to look up contacts only, so I can selecta primary contact. I assume this has something to do with relationships/mapping. Contacts are already mapped to opportunities, and you can select either an account or a contact for the potential customer.     - Odd behavior of Look For feature In Dynamics CRM 3.0, the Look For box is supposed to honor the Find Columns settings specified in the Quick Find View. This appears to work for Accounts and Contacts, but does behave the same way for Leads and Cases. For example, try searching for the numeric portion of a case number with Case Number, Case Description and Title specified as the Quick Find columns. I can't find this behavior documented anywhere and the current user experience differs from what I can find in the docs.     - Mapping Cutom Picklist Problems I am having a problem mapping a custom picklist. I created a custom attribute called New_Lender in three entities Opportunity, Quote, & Orders. I mapped these in several ways. From "Opportunity to Quote", "Quote to Order" and "Opportunity to Order". When I create an opportunity and select the appropriate lender from the picklist and continue up the process to quote or order the lender picklist does not map. I already have created other pick lists in this same way and they behave ok. I checked to see that the read only integers for the picklist matched up between the attributes in the three entities and they are identical. The original New_Lender attribute in the opportunity entity was mapped to another attribute that I deleted and then remapped to the attributes mentioned above.     - terminstall.cmd won't add more than 1 user. I have just installed Microsoft CRM 3.0 Desktop client on a 2003 Terminal Server using the instructions provided in hte CRM Desktop Client For outlook Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server. I installed it for the first user using the terminstall.cmd file and it worked. However when I try to install for another user It runs but does not install. If I go into their app data folder and open the terminstall log file I get the following message: ============== Starting CRM For Outlook TS Configurator Thu 09/07/2006 02:48 PM ================== Microsoft CRM 3.0 Client for Outlook is already installed ============== Ending CRM For Outlook TS Configurator Thu 09/07/2006 02:48 PM ================== If I delete that file run terminstall.cmd uninstall go back into the app data folder delete the two log files and the MSCRM folder in the app data\microsoft folder run terminstall.cmd install then it works for that user and the previous users as well Did I miss something in my orginal setup or is there a fix for this.     - Jscript on Lead Form? I am real new to CRM, and would like some step by step advice or sample code, but basically what I want to do is on the LEAD Form when someone filles out the First name field and then the lastname field I want to autopopulate the Customer Name field with First and Last Name.     - Provide a way to e-mail an article *from* the article I have finally found an article by browsing through the knowledge base, I'm looking right at it, and want to send it to someone, but there's no way to do that (AFAIK). Instead, I have to go to the menu, New > New Activity > e-mail, then create a message, and insert the KB article (search for it, or switch to Subject Browse in the pull-down, and browse down through the subject tree to find it again, assuming I have any idea where it was in the subject tree).     - Kerberos SharePoint CRM List Web Part problem It took a lot of time, but after following the instructions in the CRM List Web Part readme, I was able to get the web part working. Well, almost... The SharePoint server is on a separate server than the CRM server. There are two ways to get to our SharePoint site. One way is to use http://servername. The web part works correctly using this URL, presumably because it is using Kerberos. However, the most common way we use to access SharePoint is by using a DNS entry http://portal that goes to the same IP address and virtual server. But the web part is not working when we access SharePoint this way. I used a packet sniffer and found that it was using NTLM.     - passing field to report, anyone? Hi ! I have made a report and imported it into CRM. It is not a report taking data from CRM but from an ERP system. The thing is I need to pass accountnumber to the report so that the report shows data from the ERP system for only this account. Right now people have to point out the customer from a list twice, first in CRM and then also in the report, I need to parse this info to the report parameter, but how ? Are there systemparameters to use and in case does anyone have a list of those, that is I could say mydatabase.accountnr = @crmaccountnr and thus get my needed result ?     - Crystal Report Error - Custom Print Button Hi, We have a custom quote report that is triggered from a button. When a user selects the Print Quote Button on the quote page, the quoteid is passed into a custom report we created and the quote displays. For some reason, this report is stopped working. All others are still working. When we try to run the report, we receive an erroneous error: Page header or footer longer than a page..... I opened the report in Crystal Report designer and was able to run it with no error.There are references to print driver issues on other Web sites.     - CRM for outlook 3.0 with CRM server version 1.2 Hi, I have a CRM 1.2 setup here (server + crm for outlook clients). I want to allow the users to download all contacts from the CRM database to their outlook contacts. At the moment it's just downloading all contacts that are shared with them or owned by them (I think). Reading through the groups I believe there should be a CRM \ Local Data menu through the Outlook client, but I can't find this on our clients so I'm thinking maybe it's just an option with version 3.0 CRM Outlook clients ?     - Authentication Error after installation CRM 3.0 Hello I installed CRM 3.0 but i am getting Authentication Error after installation. Setup looks like One AD, 3 domain contorlers, I installed CRM on the one Domain controler. SQL 2000 SP4 and CRM 3.0 are on the same box. Exchange server is on the other box and working properly. i am member of DomainSP4 and then CRM 3.0 and underinstallation i did not get any error and it looks good but after installation i got error message at first attempt to login CRM via web prowser. 1: Authentication Error Microsoft CRM could not log you on to the system. Make sure your user record is enabled and that you have been assigned at least one security role. For more information, contact your system administrator. 2: This is error message from CRM Enviroment Diagnostics Wizard on the CRM Active Directory check. Domain Controller Cannot Be Found Cause Setup cannot locate a Domain Controller. Setup attempts to contact all Domain Controllers that is part of your Active Directory forest. A warning message is generated listing those Domain Contollers that cannot be contacted. If there are no Domain Contollers, then an error message is generated. The most common causes of warning and errors are: Network connectivity is preventing access to Active Directory domain controllers. In the case of a warning message, you may have domain controllers that are not avaiable. Solution Verify each of the following and then run setup again: Network connectivity to your Active Directory domain controllers. Your domain controller computers are operating normally.     - KB articles do not save correctly after adding section to template I created a template, used it to create an article, and published the article. Then I realized I needed another section at the beginning of articles like this, so I changed the template to include the new first section (keeping all the other sections). I unpublished the article, edited it to include appropriate content under the new first section, and saved it. Instead of the new content being saved under the first heading, it was saved under the second heading, and all the content in each subsequent heading was bumped down one. The content from the last section was lost. When I tried again, everything got bumped down again, and another section's content was bumped out of existence. No workaround that I could find - just don't add sections to templates that are in use. Something got out of sync, apparently.     - Is there a way to view articles according to the subject tree? Is there a way to view a complete listing of knowledge base articles according to the *expanded* subject tree. The only way I see is to poke around through each subject, sub-subject, and sub-sub-subject, until you stumble onto an article (or a bunch of empty subjects).     - Expand the article comments on the Comments tab As it is now, when there are comments about an article, one must open each one individually to read it, then close it. This makes it very hard to scan all the comments about an article. If the comments could be listed down the page, one after the other, reading them would be much easier. For instance, we have internal information, such as tips on using development tools, that only the development group needs to see, while the end-user product information needs to be visible to anyone in customer care.     - Can't publish reports / none available in CRM Hi, I've been going round in circles on this one for weeks. CRM is installed with SBS 2003, SQl 2000 and SRS all on the same server. SPS is also installed, all service packs applied (esp SQL SP4). No reports are visible in the CRM web UI, or, in SRS via /localhost/reports. All users in /localhost/reports have EVERY permission. When I run publishreports.exe using this syntax I get the following error message.     - Primary Contacts Our customers have multiple locations/offices which we create as multiple Accounts in CRM. We then put all the contacts for each location under their respective Account, excpet for the Primary Contact. If a Contact is the Primary for more than one location, users have just been using the Primary Contact lookup to find that Contact in the Parent Account and add them to the other locations. I know about the 'Bulk Import' privilege, but this doesn't seem to be doing the tick. I'd like to know if it is possible to assign campaign activities to several users, and not the owner of the campaign... for example, I have a division with users working in a call center and a division with the marketing manager which creates a campaign and the phone activity to contact people on the marketing list. The aim of my request was to know if it is possible to assign activities to the "call center" division and its users, so that the activity appears in the main activity list (of the crm) and not only in the account form... thanks a lot !     - Follow Ups Broken When our users click on the Follow Up tab on forms, the Follow Up window fails to load correctly, feezing with the sign stuck on 'Loading...' This problem began a few weeks ago. I Initially associated it with installing the c360 add-on, as the installation and problem started at the same time. However, I've uninstalled c360 and the problem remains. I've also contacted the c360 support team and they believe their product is not at fault.     - Tracking Outbound Emails Hiya all, I am just sorting out a minor issue with a MS CRM 3.0 implementation. I can track inbound emails just fine (i.e. click on 'Track in CRM') and its all fine. However, when I try to reply to this email, or create a new email I am striking a problem. Outlook is reporting that the sender has no address in CRM and that the email will not create an activity. I have tried exposign the from address within outlook and placing an entry in there. If I do that, outlook reports that there are to MANY addresses in the sender and that the email can't be tracked. can do this using the Import function inder tools. Can you confirm if I
would use the schema name or guid as the collumn headers?

Marlene,

If you're importing try a test file of 10 records first to make sure your
format works. It's very picky about data. You can use whatever field names
you want if you use the same field names as in CRM it will kind of match
them up for you in the mapping process. Hope that help.
