    - Server Admnistrator Password Change We want to change the Administrator password on a SBS2003 box running CRM 1.2. When we do this it knock out CRM though - have gone into the various CRM services + SQL and entered new Administrator Password but still CRM wont load with new password? A the end of the installation, a messagebox show the following errors: Setup was unable to install Microsoft CRM Server. Setup was unable to provision your organization.     - Bass-Ackwards After 15+ years of Real CRM usage. I cannot begin to relate how frustrating Microsoft "CRM" is to use. We have just made a no-turning-back investment in this monster and every bit of logic that I "Normally" would have expected from a Microsoft product is just not here in its CRM. I cannot belief the extra steps my users need to execute for simple tasks: No autodating activities, no "Non-appointments" on a calender (God help you if you have a in-office conference call conflict with an appointment 45 minutes away), so many "Catch-22's" it's unbelievable, redundant fields, any global change needs to be published (as opposed to 'seeing' the changes when you next login), absolutely no simple effective tools for mass marketing, must have an CRM for Outlook to write a letter,and on and on. Cheezes Gripes! And there is no training available!!!! Our VAR could barely teach us our own customizations (which we had to do a lot of because of the multitude of MSCRM defficiencies) before those customizations fell apart. And now they want to bill us for trying to get them to work again in MSCRM....but I digress. Their "trainer" was not even a CRM user!!!!! I tried another local MSCRM reseller because their website reports training.....they've never sold a license yet....so no one's even requested a MSCRM class.     - Where are Attachments Stored? I have attached a number of documents in Notes on various accounts, and I have restored the entire database to my DR Site. Happily, everything is working as expected, and I see the attachments in the backup installation. However, I am not sure whether they are stored as binary files in the database and are being backed up and restored with the database, or whether they are stored as some kind of link. I see the entries in the AnnotationBase table. Does anyone know where the physical file from an attachment is stored? I want to make sure that if my primary server is unavailable, the backup copy will still be downloadable and readable. If nobody knows, I will shut down my primary server after hours and then make sure that the attachments are still there, but it would sure help if anyone can shed any light on this. Thanks.     - large email attachment Hi, all. My useres have to attach documents which may have up to 8MB to EMails. When they try to send them, an error appears: System.Http.Exception: timeout [HttpException (0x80004005): Zeit für Anforderung überschritten] which means "timeout" Nevertheless the email is sent, but it's status is still open in CRM. I have modified the registry of the server already. emaildispatchtimeout = 0x12c maxuploadfilesize=0x00855000 EMails with such attachments could have been sent without problems until I've updated my server with SBS SP1.     - crmaddin.dll and duplicity of contacts Is the following scenario possible? - SFO user goes offline. He is in a hurry, so he aborts the sync process. - The user is back in the office again.     - Installing CRM Dear Colleagues My environment is the following: - 1 Windows 2000 Test Server (Will be used as the CRM Server and the SQL Server) 1 Exchange Server 2 Domain Controllers Approx 40 Workstations I currently have the CRM Deployment guide, but I have encountered various problems when I have tried to install CRM on my 'Test Server', and the deployment guide has not been too helpful, some of the problems that I have encountered are concerning, â?¢ SQL Server 2000: choosing or creating a new database â?¢ IIS: not being able to log into or even view the default CRM website â?¢ Removing CRM Completely from the Server, including the database Does anyone know of alternative DOCUMENTATION, which explains the installation in full and actually getting CRM to work, and also for troubleshooting the problems that I have listed above. The product seems like it has great potential, but I'm having trouble importing my data and I find I am unable to get help anywhere. Am I alone? Are my problems just a startup hurdle?     - CRM 3.0 and Price List Upgrading Hi, Does anyone know if CRM 3.0 will have a mechanism to update large price lists and/or multiple price lists? We have CRM 1.2 and have 4 price lists, each having about 1200 items. We have an upcoming price list change - happens each quarter, and to do them manually takes days.     - user id or team id is missing Thanks to everyone's help I've been able to import into the CDF/DMF successfully (or so I believe). However when weh I run the Migration tool, I receive for what appears to be every record: The user id or team id is missing. My users have licenses. I've run ListUmappedUsers and there are no unmapped users. I've run MapUser for all bad users previously. I'm not sure what this means and how to import my data. Please help.     - CRM Installation Dear Colleagues My environment is the following: - 1 Test Server (Will be used as the CRM Server and the SQL Server) 1 Exchange Server 2 Domain Controllers Before my initial attempt to install CRM, the Test Server already had SQL Server 2000 installed and both SQL server and agent were both started, with multiple instances. When I installed CRM for the first time the first problem I encountered was the CRM installation could not find a SQL Server database, after reading the deployment guide again I realised that Microsoft CRM can only support what is known as a â??Default Instanceâ?? of SQL server. To overcome this problem, because it was a test server I un-installed SQL Server, and followed the CRM deployment guide to installing SQL Server, â??but would not like to do that in the futureâ??. After I installed CRM Successfully I encountered the following problems: - â?¢I accessed IIS on the Test server Selected the CRM website I made a choice to browse the site I then was prompted for a USERNAME, PASSWORD and DOMAIN NAME. I tried to access the site using the Domainâ??s Administrators Username first then I tried the CRM Admin Username, and both didnâ??t work? I have now un-install CRM from the test server completely and now I would like to know what pre-requisites in full are there for installing CRM, concerning the following: - â?¢IIS (Default Website) â?¢SQL Server Also â?¢Is there any way I could create a default instance of SQL Server without doing a re-installation of SQL Server?? â?¢And what exactly is a Default instance of SQL??     - Information is needed befor this report can be processed I am using CRM 1.2 on SBS 2003 Prem. I have had crm installed for about 7 months and the client has just decided to use the software. I installed using the CRM installation basics book (followed evrithing to the letter except names and passwords). when the customer tries to generate a report (Client report, Account report, etc.) they recieve the following error: "Information is needed befor this report can be processed" on the Crystal reports screen. CRM has also been running very slow. The server is a Dell with Dual XEON 2.4, it has 2GB Ram, and Raid 5 HD configuration 3x75GB with plenty of free space.     - Inactive Leads We had a consultant import about 2700 leads in to CRM at one point. We never did anything with them so they remained in CRM. There is a view called Inactive Leads and this is where they all reside. My process or processes in CRM makes a Lead show up in the Inactive view. Every action I take on an Active Lead closes the Lead and places it in the Closed Leads view. It may have been from the import, I just can't figure out how to make a Lead become Inactive.     - Sent Date of Promoted into CRM Email When I promote an email to CRM, the date created field is that of the date I promoted the email into CRM, and not the date the email was sent or received into Outlook. For example, I receive an email from a client on September 1, I don't promote it until September 7, even though the client sent it on September 1, in CRM it shows as having been created September 7. Does anyone have a way or know of an add-on that I can capture the original received date in CRM?     - Account Views Order Is there any way of manually setting the order in which views are displayed in the drop down box for Accounts? We've created a number of similar views all starting with the word "account" followed by a username (eg: Account - Joe Bloggs etc..) and ideally want them displayed in the list together alphabetically but at the moment they're all mixed in with other views in no logical order.     - holding the control key down does not highlight let' say that I am selecting multiple accounts to change their assignment. I want to select # 1, 2, and 5. I can highlight 1 and 2 find with the shift key or control key. If I try to use the control key to highlight #5 it will not highlight. It opens a new IE window. I thought this was something to do with the google toolbar but I have uninsalled it to test and stil have the same problems. It appears to only happen in CRM. Anyone have any ideas? Specifically I am trying to understand why there is a delay from the time we publish a KB article in CRM to the time the article is available for view in CRM.     - how use sepparate web.config? Hi, I have been having some problems with settings in my web.config that interfear with PostURL webservices. I read that you can put your customization stuff in a separate pool from the crmAppPool and that that will give you the opportunity to have a different web.config for the both appPools.     - Page not found for BizUser.srf! I am trying to get the Bizuser.WhoAmI call to work. I am trying to get the correct virtual server to make the call work. But even from IIS Manager it doesn't work as expected. I have looked through the user groups, and tried a lot of the suggestions - still no joy. When I am in IIS manager I click on the BizUser.srf file - and get a 500 error instead of the normal Soap Error. If I click on the CRMAccount..srf file, I correctly get back XML. I have also gone into CRM, brought up an account - and then typed in the extension for BizUser.srf. I have deleted and added back in the .srf extension to the configuration section.     - Contact Names Display Hi all, we have CRM set up to display "Lastname, Firstname" forn Contacts, Users etc so our grids are ordered by surname rather than christian name. Some of our users must use the Up/Down arrows to see all values - the scrollbar does not work. We have not isolated this to specific computers yet. I think it may be something w/ the DPI settings of specific computers, but I'm not sure. I have logged into several machines at this customer site for month and not seen this occurrence.     - Downgrade CRMAdmin AD Rights Hope you can help. We've finished our installation and setup and would really like to downgrade the CRMAdmin user from being a domain administrator. At the moment I (and the other people who know the CRMAdmin password) have the power to completely break the network and my Network Manager is obviously getting twitchy as we continue rollout across the business.     - Default Vaules Hi all, I've created a boolean Contact field called BoardMember. The default value is displayed as Yes (1), but when I create a new record the value gets set to No (0) automatically. I actually don't want new Contacts to get set to Board Members by default, so it is doing what I want, but not what it should be doing according to the default setting. Also, when I use the Customisations to change the default setting to NO (and save the customisations), if I go back to check it, it has gone back to NO - i.e. it's not holding the change (I've even tried changing it and iisreset/Publishing the Customisation). I'm not sure if I can help, but I have seen some of your posts and I know
you are encountering many of the same issues I dealt with. I just put a
1.2 installation into production and it looks like we managed to get it
configured OK. No major complaints, mainly because expectations from an
MS product were so low!

I'll give you a little of my time at 5PM Eastern today, if you'd like, or
