    - Synch 6000 records: Outlook taking 350MB of ram... I'm preforming an synch on CRM 3 SFO for one of our VPs and he's synching over 6000 records. After the first successful CRM synch, I put his machine in offline mode and his system resources are off the charts: Outlook was at 396 MB of Ram, SQL Server 223 MB and the CRM Application Hoster at 61 MB of RAM.     - Modify Created On date and Created By fields in 3.0 Hi There! I will soon be importing some paper based legacy data into crm. I will be doing this by creating new records and inputting the data. They will be in the form of leads and opportunities. My problem is that I use several reports that use the â??Created Onâ?? date to track leads and opportunities. The legacy leads will not be representative of the actual created on date and will skew my reports. I am hoping to find some way to modify the â??created onâ?? date in order to make the lead accurate insofar as when it was actually received by the company. Does anyone know any way to modify these fields? One suggestion I have received so far is to create a custom â??real_created_onâ?? field and use that field during the import. I could then go back and update all of my current leads to populate this field.     - Email Sales Literature in MSCRM 3 I can't believe they haven't upgraded the lousy Sales Literature usability in 3.0.     - Setup of CRM Server fails with unkown error I get the following error message: Failed to install Microsoft Customer Relationship Management Server. Failed to provision your initial business. Failed to create organization. Unknown error. (80040E07). What I have already tried to do: I tried to install on our second Domain Controller (Win2K3 English), on our Primary DC (a German SBS Premium Edition), on a German Win2K3 German membership server. Always same results: the setup program can do lot of things, it can also create a new organizational unit in our ADS, create some icons in the start menu. But then it fails unexpectedly. Always, I'm the domain administrator when I run the setup. And all systems and machines are running with latest patches. The domain compatibility mode is Win2000. Disc space is not a problem. The machines seem to not be the problem. Als systems are 32 bit systems (and no one an x64). Should it be something in my domain? Master servers, etc.?     - Create User isn CRM 3.0 I am trying to create a new user in the CRM, but I get a messege stating that the http://crm/mscrmservices is not responding. I beleive I have all the right privliges. I attemtp to go to the website for mscrmservices and I can not login there, even using the domain login that runs the CRM services.     - Change Opportunity Product Pricing Instead of widgets, the organization's products I'm working with are services. As such, our pricing model is highly variable on a per opportunity basis. I need the ability to change the pricing on each service (product) after they are added to an opportunity. Out of the box, this field is locked. I have the ability to add a discount amount as well as change the overall opportunity value, but I really need this on a per product basis.     - Pasted Font and Size Does Not Change I have a user that is importing text from an email and then pasting it into the email field within CRM. Also within that field they are manually typing in some notes. The user will highlight all of the text, both what was pasted from another email and what they manually typed in. Then the user will change the font and the font size to whatever they want to change it to. The problem is that only what was manually typed into the data field changes, but not what was pasted in from an email. For some reason what was pasted in from the email does not change. This happens with multiple emails. Does anyone have any ideas why the pasted text does not change? I have another user who can change both font and size with no trouble. We have about 7,000 potential target customers and we have a purchased list of all that information.     - CRM 3.0 Fiscal Year Hi, I've seen a couple of post here and on other UK forums / blogs regarding fiscal year settings error.. I get an error when trying to alter fiscal year settings on my SBS 2003 SP1 / SQL 2005 clean install. All other aspects of CRM 3.0 server install are ok.     - CRM 1.2 client uninstall Hi, Error installing CRM 3.0 client. It keeps saying that the is an incompatiable client installed (1.2 which was on a client machine). However, it has been uninstalled from add/remove list, regclean has removed orphaned references to CRM 1.2, and install clean up does not list it as an application fro removal.     - Import Contacts from Outlook to CRM 3 Has anyone been able to do this successfully? Route we've been going is: Export from Outlook to csv Try to import csv have countless error messages (usually the number of columns in the rows is different than number in hearder row). This seems to be because outlook exports address fields with Return characters between lines - but even stripping these out we still have lots or problems (e.g. "source file is corrupt") messages Anyone?     - Formatting Lost in Bulk Emails - CRM 3.0 Why is formatting lost when sending bulk email to large lists? I used a template that I created from scratch. I then sent that template to about 600 leads. I started getting responses and I noticed the formatting (carriage returns) were taken out. So there were no spaces between paragraphs, it looked TERRIBLE! When I send that same template to a single lead, all formatting (carriage returns) stays. Why does this only happen to bulk emails? Also, if I send a bulk email out BUT I use a pre-created template, formatting stays.     - Business Unit Security for Queues Queues do not have the same security flexibility as the rest of the entities in CRM. Either you see all queues or none. Security is enforced in the items within the queue, but not the queue itself.     - CRM 1.2 to 3.0 Upgrade All, I'm in the process of upgrading CRM 1.2 to 3.0. Because of the existing hardware will not meet the minimum/recommeded requirements, I will be doing the upgrade in phases. What I would like to know is if the route I'm taking will cause any issues.     - The request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad Request. I installed CRM to server, when I run http://localhost:5555 on server CRM runs fine. But when I change in IIS "Host header value" to crm.website.xyz and try to look at CRM from that address CRM starts (open new window as before with menu on left side) but on right side with this error: "The request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad Request."     - registration Hello, All! Our company as Golden Partner Microsoft has the Product Key for CRM 3.0 for 100 licenses. At the same time through MSDN we got the Key for 10 licenses. We need to install CRM 3.0 for the department of development (quantity of whom about 15 people). If I for installation of the product use the key for 100 licenses, I will need to register the server too. As I understand, after the successful registration of CRM for development with key for 100 licenses, I will not be able to install additional CRM server with the same key for the company needs:?     - V3 Bulk Import Issue2 - Carriage Returns Hi I am bulk importing accounts and have a list of historical notes that I need to import into a custom Text Area field. Now as the notes are one liners and there are miltiple notes per record I have concatenated them with a carriage return between them. The import csv file correctly shows double quotes at the start and end of all the concatenated fields to denote them as text. When, however, I attempt to import, the double quotes seem to get ignored and it assumes that the carriage returns are the sign of a new record so things get screwed up. I have tried concatenating with CHAR(13) for a CR and also CHAR(10) for a linefeed but bith seem to give the same outcome.     - V3 Bulk Import Issue1 - Default Values Hi I have found that if I bulk import Accounts in V3, if I do not specify a value for a picklist then the deault value is not popultated on the record and just leaves it blank. Seems to happen with custom & system fields. I have found the 'Defualt Values' tool but it just says that this is for upgrades from 1.2 and I would not expect to have to use it after each set of accounts imports.     - Contract Status failed to change at Start date/End Date on CRM 1.2 The contract status on deployed CRM 1.2 used to be working fine being able to change automatically from Invoiced to Active on the start date and then Active to Expired on the end date of the Contract.     - SQL RS Authentication Issue - CRM 3.0 Setup: CRM 3.0 new install on SBS 2003 server. The CRM install is what installed SQL RS. Users (and administrator) can view list of reports in web client, but when they open a report and hit the 'Run Report' button they are prompted to enter their credentials. The Reports and ReportServer virtual directories are installed in the Default website.     - CRM 3.0 Web client performance questions - Win2k vs WinXP Hello - I seem to have a bit of a connundrum here and was wondering if anyone else has experienced a simmilar issue. We've currently got CRM 3.0 up and working but I have gotten some questions regarding performance from some of my users that access CRM using the web client on a WAN link. They are overseas and the server is located in the US. They've got a 512kb connection and we've got a full t-1 connection. They are stating that it can take them anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 min to load a page. So, I had them do some investigating and testing with some other machines in their office and here is what we found: The main systems that they use are running Windows XP SP2 w/ 512 mb ram (processors vary between PIII 500mhz and PIII 800mhz). On these systems they say that CRM is very slow (30 sec to 2 min to load a page as menioned above). So, I had them check on a spare machine with the following config: Win2000 Pro SP2 w/ 256mb RAM and PIII 800mhz processor. On this Win2k machine, the page load time was about 5 - 10 seconds over the same connection. This is quite puzzling to me - as I would expect that the systems would have similar performance.     - Can't send Email inside domain using Workflow rule We are using CRM 3.0 and we have setup a workflow rule that sends emails to our sales guys when an opportunity is closed (lost). However when we tested the rule, the owner of the opportunity always got an email saying.... Undeliverable:Opportunity Lost Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator. < <our CRM server> #5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 Requested action not taken: message refused> We tested the rule by changing the recipient of the message to be an outside account (hotmail account) and that message went through just fine. The problem seems to be only when the rule needs to send a message to internal email address.     - 1.2 and Crystal Reports Parameters We were getting a licence error when trying to run reports on 1.2, so we reset the Crystal services, which resolved the error. However, we are no longer are presented with the opportunity to enter parameters into our reports; instead the reports just run when selected.     - Error when completing a task We upgraded CRM 1.2 to 3.0 a couple weeks back. Ever since we periodically see the following error pop up while inside of the Outlook Client: "There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft CRM Server. The server might be unavaiable. Try again later. if the problem persists, contact your system administrator." Also, when attempting to complete/cancel tasks in CRM, we receive the following error: "An error has occurred. For more information, contact your system administrator." The strange part here is, we receive this error, yet when we click Cancel on the error screen, the screen closes and the task did in fact complete/cancel and do what it's supposed to. Everything did what it was supposed to yet this annoying error is popping up every single time for some unknown reason. The most frustrating part is when our salesmen are trying to sell CRM 3.0 and potential buyers are seeing these errors in the system. This doesn't make for an easy sell. Please advise. Thanks!!     - Switch database Hi, Can i switch the db from a current install of CRM 3.0 with a db from another crm 3.0 install. I tried to upgrade crm 1.2 and it crashed half way through it. I ended up with a migrated database and a crap install that didnt function. Also the 1.2 install was deleted. So i did a clean install of the 3.0 and now i want to try to attach the fully migrated db to the successful install.     - New window does not open after installation 3.0 I have having a strange problem. I just installed a fresh copy of 3.0 Pro and when I go on the url of the server, I can see the blue background for a second and then it tries to open a new browser then it closes both screens.     - CRM 3.0 Install I am reading through the CRM 3.0 Implementation Guide and came across the following: "Microsoft CRM Server is supported only with a default instance of SQL Server. Named instances of SQL Server are not supported with Microsoft CRM." Is this a best practice suggestion or a requirement due to an incompatibility? Also, the default instance of SQL Server in our environment hosts a Windows Sharepoint Services database. Are there any known issues running in the same SQL instance as Sharepoint. The CRM guide indicates the following: â?? Modification of system tables. The SQL Server system tables should not be modified when Microsoft CRM is installed. Some database applications may modify the SQL Server system tables. If this occurs, problems with Microsoft CRM and data may result. â?? Replication. Many SQL Server implementations have only one distribution database that is shared by multiple SQL Server applications. It is important that other SQL Server applications do not assume that the distribution database is not shared and make modifications that affect Microsoft CRM.     - Moving data to custom entities I have a customer in the Financial Services industry that would like to upgrade to 3.0. Part of the implementation will be creating a custom entity to store portfolio information (life insurance, diability, Dental, etc.). This data is currently stored in a SQL table from another application. I would like to move this data from its current location to my customer entity.     - Workflow Monitor 3.0 Issues We upgraded our CRM system from 1.2 to 3.0. We have had workflow in place with 1.2 and now with 3.0. Now (in 3.0) for some reason on select running processes that display in Workflow Monitor we are unable to take any action. We cannot pause, cancel, jump to, etc... Through troubleshooting we determined that the processes that we are unable to perform any action with via Workflow Monitor are the Workflow processes that were currently running during the upgrade to 3.0. Any workflow process that has started POST UPGRADE is functioning fine and we are able to perform any of the actions via Workflow Monitor. Any workflow process that was running DURING THE UPGRADE is no longer functioning and we are unable to perform any of the actions via Workflow Monitor. Is this a known issue?     - SQL Server Crash and Restore Problems We had a SQL Server hardware failure last week. My support team rebuilt the box and restored the databases, however, to join it to the domain they added it rather than place it back in the original workgroup. I am assuming this has 'reset' the SID for the SQL box (it has the same name). Thus, when I reinstall CRM and utilize existing databases, I have authentication issues for my security service. I have attempted all KB resolutions for this and can only assume at this point that this is SID related. Can anyone offer disaster recovery guidance for me? thanks, Austin Tag: SFO - HELP!!!! We have about 5 custom .net programs in our CRM Implementation. Some of these
programs are common for about 4-5 system and custom entities and include
changes to the respective edit.aspx files.

This code does not work in SFO. Do we have to individually modify each
user's edit.aspx file for each entity for the custom code to work???
