    - disable system entities Hi, How do I make system entites vanish from the main panel (the left TreeView)? For example, I want that marketing module will not show the "Lead" entity. When I try to customize system enetites, the check boxes that are responsible for displaying the entities in modules and myworkarea are dimmed (disabled). I also want to have the oppertunities displayed in the marketing module (again the check boxes are dimmed) I have all the credentials for customization. Tag: CRM External connector Tag: 99702

    - Invoicing a contract Hi, Within our organization we are now starting to use the contracts feature in CRM 3.0 However, we are experiencing some difficulties with actvitating some of our contracts. To activate a contract, you must first 'invoice' the contract. With some of our contracts this doesn't seem to be a problem at all and their status turns from 'Draft' into 'Active'. With most of our other contracts we get the following error message: --- Contracts Error The contract address is missing. You need to add an address before this contract can be invoiced. --- We can't seem to activate those contracts. When we try to fill in the Contract Address, it's not even possible to select such an address! The 'Bill To' address is filled in properly. - What address is CRM asking for? - How can we make sure that we can select such an addres from our look up field? If we compare the data that was filled in on the 'Active' contracts it doesn't seem to differ at all from the 'Draft' contracts we can't seem to activate.     - Outlook 2007 client for Vista doesn't install I am having trouble getting the Outlook 2007 client (online only) for Vista to install. During installation, the verification step says that there is a pending computer restart. I'm sure that this is not the case, since I had not installed any software or updates since last restarting. Should I perhaps restart immediately prior to installing the client? And after the installation is complete? I did neither and just started Outlook. A dialog appearing saying that there is an error loading CRM functionality and to try restarting Outlook. I did that twice and the same error occurred both times. The "Microsoft CRM" data file only contained a Deleted Items folder during this time. Then I decided to remove that data file, which worked without error. I then removed the CRM add-in from Outlook, which also worked without error. Then I added the CRM add-in again, which worked without error. Then I tried to add a data file of type "Microsoft CRM" and immediately got the following: "An unknown error occurred, error code: 0x80040102. I looked in the folder "C:\Users\{user-me}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook" and saw no file containing anything remotely resembling the word "CRM". Shouldn't there be a CRM data file in there?     - MS Dynamics CRM 4.0 KNOWN ISSUES / BUG - Update Rollup 1? Hi all, Take 2 at this post as I mashed the keyboard on my last attempt and posted it half the way through! :) Wondering if anyone knows any timeline on Update Rollup 1. I have a few bugs in which when followed up with MS they have simply explained that it is a known issue and they will be realeasing an Update Rollup to address the bugs, mine included. They cannot provide a timeline and I have clients crucifying me over it. Some of the bugs have workarounds, but for sites with a lot of users OR for our hosted clients which are generally remote users that are geographically all over the place, means we need to do web meetings, for the ammount of users we have this will get extreemly tedious and take a LOT of time. Bugs off the top of my head: - Default view when you try to change has a star (signifing default view) against both views, the default and the newly selected one, e.g. Active Accounts and MyActive Accounts. - Synchronizing somtimes fails, if so add rule to contact data set, sync only when Birthday does not contain data. - When Assigning an Account record to a different user an error is recieved. - E-mails in your inbox may be tracked, but some users do not have "Double head" (tracked in CRM) icon. - Notes sporadically have spinning green circle (loading) stopping the ability to add notes or view created notes. - When moving your curser over activities in the Service Calender, the times in which the tool tip info displays is incorrect, e.g 1:25am to 1:55am for a Service Activity that was completed over timespan > 4:00pm and 4:30pm. - Service Calender defaults to incorrect day, date/time settings have been made on client and server but this issue and the one above both still have the problem. Thats all I can think of off the top of my head but I know there are a couple more. Question I have is do MS know about these? If so when are they going to be fixed? Is there going to be an Update Rollup of individual hotfixes to resolve these issues? Are our clients and I the only people having these errors? Are there more bugs to look out for??     - having issues Good afternoon! This is going to be a bit open ended and I am not able to provide too much in the way of information at the moment. I know, I know...I am worse than the end user who tells you that the system is broken and wants you to fix it. We have several clients who use Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 and they are constantly complaining about the system "being slow" and the need for the MS Outlook Plugin to be reapplied. With one specific client there are some 75 users; the network is 10/100/1000 (may or may not mean anything) and the backend is MS Windows 2003 R2 with SQL 2000 SP4. I know that my collegues recently had to deploy a CRM Patch. So, with my generic description of the "problem" is there anything specific to CRM that I might check. I do not manage this client and have - outside of the Exchange 2007 installation - anything to do with this client. I just see all of the CRM 3.0-related tickets. Is this simply a matter of "troubleshooting 101" and going over the basic things? I do not have any experience with CRM 3.0 (or 4.0 for that matter). I am, however, pretty good at fixing things (just resolved a major issue that had been going on for six weeks and I have never seen the applications involved before!). We did not do the initial installation. We inheirited this client from someone else. I am simply trying to help out my colleagues as I have a better opportunity to spend some quality time with this than they do. Plus, I am considering CRM for one of my clients......     - Outlook offline reports not available I have setup most of my CRM 4 users with the Outlook client, which seems to work considerably better than that in CRM 3. However, when the clients are traveling and unable to attach to the Internet, the reports are not available. Is there any way to make the CRM reports available offline.     - Guid showing in title bar I have a problem where the guid for an account shows in the title bar after the http://servername and before the account name when the account entity is opened. My test installation does not do this. I have tried modifying all kinds of browser settings to no avail. Also, I can't find any setting in CRM to control this.     - MS CRM 4.0 query builder error - no entity Hi, I'm having a problem with the Mailmerge Template entity: I imported all customizations from one environment to another. When I want to open my mailmerge templates in the settings section i get following error: Query Builder Error No Entity I did not make any customizations to this entity, so I don't know what the problem can be.     - CRM 4.0 "An error has occurred" Hi: I did an upgrade from CRM 3.0 to CRM 4.0. First I upgrade Sql2000 to Sql2005 SP2 and then upgrade CRM. I have issue when create new case and tried to assign responsible contact. The application show â??An error has occurredâ??. This form did have a customization in java to filter the contacts to show only the contacts for the account. I removed this customization for the form, but still have the error.     - Deleting from a Queue (Email, Task etc) Hi All, At one of my sites, a user has gone and deleted a number of Email activities from a Queue. However after deletion, the activity is still displayed in the Queue and when he tries to open it, he gets an error saying that the record doesn't exist (rightly so).     - Mail Merge to Case Functionality v4.0 Hi, I am currently working with a customer who has a requirement to be able to do direct mail merges (to documents) with information captured and stored within the case entity. I was very surprised that even though CRM v4.0 allows mail merges with other standard entities and all custom entities, the case entity is not one of these. This is a shame as I believe this should have been one of the primary entities in CRM that a user should be able to perform mail merges on since it handles enquiry management information and resolution - most of which need to be able to be sent back to the customer. Does anyone know of a way to enable the mail merge features for the case entity (ie. display the mail merge icon and option on the toolbars)? If not, can anyone provide any guidance with regards to an alternative way to allow users to do mail merge on a case? We have considered creating a custom entity off case from which we can do the mail merge on but don't think is a great option from a usability point of view ... ??     - HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied Whenever I try to connect to the CRM server using http://crm/ from a workstation I get the error (after 3 attempts): HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied Oddly enough, when I enter in the internal IP address of the server, i.e. http://192.168.16.100, then it loads from the workstations fine. (I provide my Active Directory username and password). But when I enter the machine name, dynamics, it prompts for a log-in three times and then refuses access to the server.     - How to integrate CRM 4.0 with Great Plain 9.0 ? Hello everyone, My client would like to integrate between MS CRM 4.0 and GP 9.0. From my read on this forum, it looks like we have 3 options to accomplish:- 1. Use Scribe Insight 2. Use CRM/GP Connector : it is not released for CRM 4.0 from Microsoft yet. It might take about 3-6 months. 3. Develop custom I wonder if I choose to develop custom integration (option 3), what componenent I need to use for integration. I am a CRM developer so in my idea I might need to use CRM Web service to update / insert data into CRM but how about if I want to update / insert data into GP , how can I do that ?     - Business Management Error Move CRM 4.0 Database to Different Machi Hi, I have backed up a CRM 4.0 _MSCRM and MSCRM_Config database from one machine and restored both on another machine ( Which had been useing a test database). After restoring both databases on the new host I used the Deployment Manger to import the restored database. After completing the import when I attempt to open CRM I get an error message saying " Business Management Error The user ID associated the current record is not valid" From the server where I'm logged an as Administrator On client PC I get the following. Server Error in '/' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application.     - Dynamic Worksheets in Excel Does anyone know a good resource for digging deeper into how dynamic worksheets work with excel. I am able to find basic information that says you can export the dynamic worksheets, and with some more advanced techniques can even add and remove CRM columns from the worksheet. What I can't find is information on what the user can do to that worksheet in excel, such as adding additional columns that exist in the worksheet only and don't have a data source. And that the information in these columns remains in tact and associated with the appropriate row/record when the data is refreshed and new rows are added, or possibly removed. Or are these dynamic worksheets only meant to be reporting tools that you refresh and refer to. Does anyone have any experience with this or advice on better resources? Thanks! This is how I go: - Disable Organization in Deployment Manager. - Copy Databases to the new server. - Attach databases at new server. - Edit Organization in Deploment Manager. - Wizard completes successfully. Then I want to remove the databases from the old SQL server to free up the diskspace. But when I detach the databases my CRM goes down.     - Perfect storm of a CRM upgrade I've just completed what, I believe, amounts to the perfect storm of an upgrade. The client was moving from SBS 2003 (not R2) on a virtual machine to a physical Windows 2003 64 bit server. They were also upgrading CRM3 SBS to CRM4 Professional. As SBS was running SQL 2000 and CRM3 does not run on 64 bit machines the database couldn't be easily moved from one to the other. So we have an upgrade, migration across domains and a move to 64 bit. The eventual path to success was the following: 1) Upgrade SQL 2000 to 2005 2) Upgrade CRM3 to CRM4 on the SBS virtual machine 3) Backup the database and transfer it to the new 64 bit server 4) Install CRM4 on the 64 bit server 5) Use deployment manager to attach the old database Points of note: * You can upgrade SBS SQL 2000 to 2005 but you may need to completely reinstall SRS as in my case the discs simply would not allow for SRS to be upgraded * If you get "Malformed XML Found in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Saved Queries" this could be an issue with the saved queries table but it could also be a permissions issue. In my case the user who had installed CRM was not the domain administrator. Upgrading as the domain admin did not cut it. Promoting the original user to a domain admin and upgrading did the trick * If you get "Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.InstallConfigDatabaseAction failed. Invalid user name. Failed to validate username for given domain. Only existing domain usernames and email addresses are allow" then try unplugging the network once the required components are installed. This cleared the error for me * On a 64 bit box, make sure you are running IIS in 64 bit mode and therefore ASP.Net is registered in 64 bit mode. If not, CRM will get past the pre-checks, start installing and then bomb out leaving a mess which cannot be repaired, uninstalled or installed over * The deployment manager can be used to add an organisation with the Professional license. It simply swaps out the default database for the new one and maps the users as usual (although, I again hit an issue with the setup user being someone other than domain admin. The error was "At least the setup user needs to be mapped before this organization can be imported". I am getting the following error message when trying to customize a form by adding elements that has manifested itself recently (the only one in my company to have this issue). The worst part of it all (besides being able to manage CRM customization), is that in a regular form (i.e., opportunities) when a numeric amount is entered, the value is erased when the element loses focus (when I click save/close for example). Method 2: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x Repair for Windows XP From the Start menu, select Search, select All Files and Folders. Select More Advanced Options and place a checkmark beside Search Hidden Files and Folders option. Ensure that Search System Folders and Search Subfolders are also checked. In the All or Part of the File Name box, type ie.inf In the Look In drop-down menu, select C: or the letter of the hard drive that contains the Windows folder. Click the Search button. We want to first be able to link the two people together on the form, and not in the relationships area. Any suggestions on doing a lookup from a Contact for another contact to display the contact name?     - CRM 1.2 to 3 I have a CRM1.2 database which has been put onto an SQL2005 server in SQL 2000 compatability mode. The site it was at was migrating from SQL 2000 and the CRM1.2 system was no longer in user, so they moved the database (backup from old server and resotre to new) over to the new server before getting rid of the old one. Is there any way this database can be upgraded to use CRM v3 (and then onto v4) I know 1.2 isnt supported on SQL 2005, so I cant install 1.2 for this upgrade process. Microsoft CRM external connector is just a license to share CRM data with
other people who donâ??t have CRM User license. It doesnâ??t include any extra
software. You can use CRM SDK to develop software to make CRM data accessible
to other people.
