    - HOWTO: Customizing CRM - include auto-number field? Hello, We would like to customize our CRM Opportunity form. We want to include a OpportunityNumber field, which will be auto-generated when the new opportunity is created, similar to auto-numbers for Contracts, Cases, Articles, Quotes, etc. Is it possible and how do we go about it? I've looked at CRM Deployment Manager. It's possible to create a simple custom Attribute for particular object. But I couldn't figure out how to make it an auto-generated number, like SQLServer Identity... Could I just modify OpportunityBase table in MSCRM database? Do I need to change METABASE database too?..     - Manual Update of Product Table Hi would it be possible to create a trigger to add/lessen a numeric field in the product table? Here's the scenario I wanted, whenever I include a product in ORDER MANAGEMENT, I need to update some fields in the PRODUCT TABLE (ITEMONHAND), we need to make it appear similar to a simple inventory system wherein the product number (ItemOnHand) is updated whenever an order for a product is created. I tried exploring if WorkFlow Manager allows the update, but among the objectas I tested, no MANUAL workflow could UPDATE the Product Object.. I was planning to use a trigger on a dummy field in the ORDER Object, so that once it is changed, an SQL Trigger would go directly to the PRODUCT Table and update the field of the corresponding product. Questions: Can I do this scenario using only the CRM Customization Tools? If I use SQL Triggers, will this void any support? or will this cause support issues?     - Gerneating guID's for new entities using code Hi, I am working with the CRMQuoteDetail object, trying to create new quote lines through a custom app. The web service fails on the Create method, with the soap detail for the error suggesting that the quotedetailid can not be null. This is okay, except that when creating accounts or contacts, the underlying platform generates the ids automatically, so i'm not sure if i can just use C# to create a standard guID to use. I notice IG.pdf lists this item in the report troubleshooting section. The solution provided there applys to member server. In my case, everything(CRM server, sql server, exchange server) is installed on single laptop which is a window enterprise server DC. Any advise of solving the problem will be highly appreciated.     - CRM Usage - Question Is there anything I lose, functionality-wise, in CRM by having my users work solely in CRM for Outlook? We haven't started using CRM yet so I would be very interested in anybody's experience/opinion. I don't want my users to have to switch all over and it seems like you can do everything in CRM For Outlook.     - SQL Field Limitations I understand that there are 8000 character limitations on tables in SQL that affect CRM's ability to extend customizations on any particular object. I also understand that once a field is created in CRM and deleted, that, currently, those characters are not recoverable. Is there any way for me to quickly determine what usage level I am at on a particular object (current and orphaned) via SQL query or otherwise. Thanks in advance. P.S.     - Global Replace Hi, I need to be able to clear the contents of a custom field for multiple lead records. This could mean clearing specific fields for hundreds of lead records at a time. Basically I want to allocate leads to individual sales guys and at the end of the month clear the contents of some of the fields that they may have filled. If anyone has some sample code / formatting information that I can use it would be greatly appreciated. Also, I also need to know if it is possible to stop the default value for the Revenue (isrevenuesystemcalculated) field on the opportunity form being set to "Yes" when the "Convert Lead" function is used.     - Adding Extra Fields or More Options in Drop Downs For the benefit of others just thought let me update this post with the information that i just managed to get and implement. In view of adding extra fields or adding extra options in drop down fields i managed to do so. If you have been given the Administrative Privilages then you can customise the order form using the system customisation and add extra fields or ammend the ones that are there or even add extra options in Drop Down Fields. I did this for the Order Screen because I wanted to have a Status 'Closed' when Invoices were paid for in full. I added the option Closed and you need to save the form. Once saved on the deployement manager you need to publish the customisation and restart the IIS services. Log back into CRM and you will see the changes been effected.     - Refreshing the CRM window (window.opener) from custom page Hi, I am wondering whether anybody has worked out whether there is a generic 'refresh' client side script to trigger a postback on a CRM page. I require such a capability because my custom app modifies information in a particular entity (quote, order etc), which I want to be reflected in the calling window. I could do this relatively easily if I had coded the original window, but I'm not sure how to proceed when a CRM window is the window.opener for the custom window.     - COM-Proxy missing or damaged? When setting ISVIntegration to "On" in my web.config, I get the "big-red-X" error page. Setting the showDevErrors thing to "On" gives me more details, yielding this strange-sounding error: "COM Proxy: Error Loading File - The file may not exist or may be damaged!" What the....?     - Error While Trying to Synchronize - CRM for Outlook Hi, I just loaded CRM for Outlook client on Windows XP machine with Office 2003. I did the installation in two steps: first loaded MSDE, then CRM for Outlook client. When I opened Outlook, it seemed okay at first, I could see Contacts, etc. Then I tried to syncronize for the first time by hitting the Go Offline button, and I got an error. Now everytime I go back into Outlook, the CRM part is in the offline mode (the button now says Go Online.     - Renaming a CRM server I use Win2003 SBS. It's current name is Win2003SBS. I would like to change it's name to CRM. I tried to change the name via System -> Properties -> Computer Name. After reboot I went to the CRM web page: http://localhost and got the message that the system could not start. Also, the MS CRM Deployment Manager failed to start. However, not as gracefully...     - Adding Fields + Technical Documentation Hello, I was wondering if there is a possibility of us to include extra fields in the database in order to be used to represent "Status" in orders. I have checked the db and it seems like there is a table called StringMap which holds all the fields information. I have seen for example there are 3 Values for statuses for orders i.e. 0 - Active, 1 - Submitted and 2 - Cancelled. What if I wanted to Put an extra one 3 for Closed Order? And what effect would this bring on reporting? Or is there any way I can get hold of some technical documentation regarding the db structure and what each table represents in CRM?     - CRM 1.2 Installation Error 800700B7 unable to Configure Web Services Hi, I have followed the steps and pre-requisites in the Installation guide, however, every time I have tried to install the productl, I get a message stating "Setup was unable to install CRM Server. Setup was unable to configure the Web Services that are using ASP.NET. Cannot create a file when that file already exists (800700B7). Can somebody please help me with this?     - trouble with CrmIsapi.dll I was experiencing the same problem with the SDK as many have posted to this group ... "the WhoAmI() call results in a http error 405 when running sample code" I followed some of the advice; checked my .srf mapping to CrmIsapi.dll and re-registered the CrmIsapi.dll. when I re-register CrmIsapi.dll I get an error 80004005 - unspecified. ??? I copied it to various places and retried it ... same result. I got the original from the disk and retried ... same result. unmapped it from .srf, restarted and retried to register it ... same result. Anyone experienced this. What's up with my environment?
