    - Update Rollup 2 for CRM 3.0 and related questions Hi All, our chief of sales is now tired of CRM being slow, and crashing on clients whole time, and I got the task. :o) I started a little research on Internet and different forums, and I am planning to install the last updates (both server and client), to make sure that at least we are running the latest software. We have a dedicated CRM server that runs only CRM: (3.0.5300.0). Our clients are connecting to it both via web and via Outlook. (but primarily Outlook, when out of office - via VPN) We have these combinations of OS/Office installed on our clients: (everything is English-version with the latest patches via Microsoft Update) a.) XP + Office 2003 b.) XP + Office 2007 c.) Vista + Office 2007 Besides that, we are using a QuickSearch tool. For the moment we have pretty many problems with clients crashing, and have tried installing the latest V3C client on some machines. But there were no structure in that work, so now we end up in a situation where on some machines XP + Office 2007 combination works well, and on some others it doesn't. I decided to put some structure on the whole thing, and would like to start updating the server with the latest updates, and then clients. But here is where I have some questions: _______________________________________________________ 1 - is "Update Rollup 2" the latest update for CRM; are there additional patches afterwards, and where do I get them? 2 - should I install the server Update Rollup 2 first, and then the client one? (CRM3.0-KB927751-Server-ENU, CRM3.0-KB927751-Client-ENU) 3 - if I install the server Update Rollup 2 first, would the clients that don't have the Update Rollup 2 be working? 4 - should I install different client versions for Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007? 5 - which client version (Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 clients for Microsoft Office Outlook Compatibility Update) should I install, "On Premise" or "Service Provider Edition"? "Service Provider Edition" should be the newest (11.2007.) ... Is it an update for a client that is already installed, or could one install just the "Service Provider Edition" version on a machine without CRM client previously installed? If it is just an update, what client version should I install on the clients before the update itself? 6 - a question not related to the update: one can upload a report generated in Excel 2003, but not when generated in Excel 2007? _______________________________________________________ Is there a "best practices" document on the issue(s) which I could download and read before the whole project starts?     - Multiple referential lookup in contact form Hi all, I've created a custom entity that is a referential of honorific titles (Sir, lord ...). In my contact form, I've 2 types of name : registration name and patronymic name. For both of them, I need to associate an honorific title, which can be different. So I've created a first relation 1 to n between my custom entity and contact entity, type of relation referential, for the registration name. But when I want to create a second relation (type referential) for the patronymic name, it fails, saying I cannot create more than one cascading relation. Is there a way to do this without using a parental relation ? I think of creating a copy of my custom entity, but then I lose the benefit of a referential... Anyone can help ? Thanks in advance.     - CRM error - Outlook 2007 Hi all, I am using CRM 3.0 laptop client with Outlook 2007. I had number of leads. I tried to convert them to opportunity. Leads got converted to opportunity, but before that I got a message as following - "The changes you made have been saved to Microsoft CRM, but will not be migrated to Outlook because Outlook is not running or CRM components have not been loaded by Outlook. If you set up a company policy to create cases for contacts all the time and not accounts they still get rolled up under the accounts.     - CRM 1.2 database, but no CRM Server, new AD, needing to be upgrade We have the SQL database files from a 1.2 CRM installation. There isn't much data in it, but enough that we don't want to lose it. The client (on their own, btw) moved the data into a SQL 2005 environment on a new domain. Then they pretty much killed the old one, including their CRM 1.2 installation. They tried to apply the upgrade themselves, but it didn't work. Now we have to figure out a way to at least save the data and bring it into a 3.0 environment. It doesn't look like the redeployment tools will work, since the old server is no longer around.     - Outlook 2007 on Vista: Toolbars and Menus not working Hi everyone, I'm running MS CRM3.0 through Outlook 2007 on my Vista Business machine. I've run the updates on the server before installing the client. CRM displays ok within Outlook but requires a username/password before opening. The URL is listed in the Trusted Sites of Internet explorer. I've tried entering the URL as http://servername:port but it just lists as http://servername. The CRM menu opens and the buttons on the toolbar highlight and open. However, when I click on something (e.g. Options in the Menu bar) nothing happens. Also, when opening an outlook contact, I used to have a small ribbon for CRM which allowed me to track the contact in CRM and to specify a parent: that's now gone.     - Massive update Hi, all: We've just deployed a Dynamics CRM solution in our company. Due to some errors during the data migration, we use to perform controlled massive updates in the database. We really appreciate the multiple edition functionality, which is available -for instance, for the "account" entity- through the "More actions" button. It allows us to update massively without using SQL sentences, so it is perfect. We would like to enable (or develop by ourselves) a similar functionality to update "phonecalls" massively.     - Navigate back from Order to Quote to Opportunity CRM3.0 stores emails in the History of the related entity (Opp, Quote, Order). When viewing the emails under e.g. Quote or Order xyz we often need to view the emails under the corresponding Opportunity xyz. Currently there is no possbility to jump 'back' from Quote or Order to the Opportunity. You have to go to Sales/Opportunities, type xyz in the Lookup box, click on Opportunity xyz and then on History. Navigating 'forward' from Opportunity to Quote or Order is no problem; these entities are shown in the left hand pane. Any reason why Opp and Quote cannot be shown in the LH pane of the Order ?     - Authentication Failed Hi all, I have an error while trying to open microsoft dynamic crm 3.0 application. The error message is Authentication failed. The CRM Server and Active Directory Server life in the different machine. I restart the crm server and then it's works fine. This problem has occured more than once time. error message from event viewer: *) Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. (The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted). Group Policy processing aborted. *) Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. Check the event log for possible messages previously logged by the policy engine that describes the reason for this. *) Windows cannot find the machine account, No authority could be contacted for authentication.     - CRM 3.0 Desktop client installed on terminal Server is not working I am having trouble getting the CRM 3.0 Desktop client to properly work through a terminal services connection. If I connect to the Terminal server with an account that has local administrative rights on the Terminal server, then RPC to the CRM server and run â??LightClient.msiâ?? everything works great. CRM continues to work even after I remove the user from the local administrators group. However, I cannot make a regular user account work. I would like to avoid making every TS user a local admin. Here is the pertinent info: I have a working installation of CRM 3.0 running on a Windows Small Business 2003 R2 SP2 Server. I have NOT installed CRM 3.0 Rollup 2. Users on the corporate network that have the CRM client install on there member PCâ??s can connect fine. I have built a Windows 2003 R2 server, installed terminal services, pointed it to a valid TS license server and installed all current updates. I then installed MS office 2003 and updated it with MS Office SP 2 and all other updates. I then installed the CRM desktop client for Outlook on the terminal server. I created an administrative install of the CRM desktop client and stored this on a share on the terminal server that is available to all users. I can start a Terminal services session with a Domain user account and launch IE and connect to the CRM installation with the URL http://CRM. Outlook is also working for typical users. I have downloaded â??Microsoft CRM 3.0 Desktop Client for Outlook Deployment with Terminal Serverâ?? available here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=CBAD1AF7-8FDE-40F2-8DF5-935A363F87D9&displaylang=en I then edited terminstall.cmd with the pertinent info of my CRM environment. I have followed the instructions to the letter as well as trying to run terminstall.cmd from the usrlogn.cmd file. Adding â??\\servername\sharename\terminstall.cmd installâ?? to the user logon script has been ineffective. I also have tried making a terminal services connection, and running \\servername\sharename\terminstall.cmd install via RPC. This does a lot of file copy, but is also ineffective. After attempting these various configurations I log onto the terminal server with a regular user account and launch outlook I receive the following error â??An error occurred loading Microsoft CRM functionality. Try restarting Microsoft Outlook. Contact your system administrator if errors persist.â?? It feels like I not executing terminstall.cmd install properly through the logon scripts, but then why doesnâ??t it work when I run it manually? Any advice is appreciated.     - IE 6 vs IE 7 Hi, As a test I installed the CRM outlook client on two laptops that are the same execpt one is running IE 6 and the other was updated to IE 7. The IE 6 machine works fine accessing the CRM both through outlook and the web. The IE 7 machine will work through the web but requires a login and the Outlook client will not work at all.     - Impersonation Fails After Redeployment We went about a deployment a little backwards and started using CRM and decided we needed to make changes to the way it worked so here is method I used. 1. I backed up live CRM server 2. Redeploiyed it to a staging server 3. made customizations 4. backed up staging server 5. Redeployed to live enviroment In doing so impersonation stopped working. We had a Domain user we called DOMIAN\CRMWEB. This account was used to impersonate a CRM user so that we could add leads or orders from our website. After the redeployment however it stopped working. After filling the required fields on the New Custom Entity form, when i am
trying to save it, i am getting the following error:
" An error has occured. For more information, contact your system
administrator".

Same issue here. Currently I'm busy troubleshooting, but no results
yet. I tried the following without result:

Enable logging by adding keys to the registry:
LogPerfData: filename
LogPerfDataDetails: 1
LogPerfDataLevel: 2

Repare CRM by using the installation disk.

Did you make any progress resolving this issue?
