Hi All,
I tried to use Fetch(fetchXml) method to get some data back from account
The returned result is not compatible UTF-8 or 16.
Example:
In the follwing example The name field contains special characters such as
"&".
Is it a Bug?

Owner/Organiser
When I have an activity (say appointment) and I assign it to
somebody else, everything is as expected.
However, if the organiser is changed to another person first
and then the owner is being changed, then after
assigning the appointment to that other person makes CRM
pop-up another assign-screen. If you press Cancel on this
screen the owner is already changed.
My question is, when does the Assign(To) screen pop-up

What port should I open in my firewall to reach Exchnange for CRM
Hello people,
We have a couple of servers in our domain, that all have their individual
Windows firewall turned on. To make the connectivity between them possible, I
open every individual port as necessary.
While I install CRM 3.0 on server A with Exchange being on server B, I get
an error during the installation process that my Exchange server cannot be
found. This sure has to be a firewall issue - when I turn of the firewall on
server B, the error goes away and I can continue the installation.
I tried opening port 25, but that did not resolve my problem during
installation. Can anyone direct me as to which port(s) I need to open to get
this running correctly and to avoid the error without turning of the firewall
?

Microsoft CRM 3.0 Installation Problem - Server Binding Conflict
I am doing a Microsoft CRM 3.0 Small Business Edition re-installation on a
Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition server.
I am doing a custom install and I get to the System Requirements
Verification window and under the category of Microsoft CRM Server User Input
section I am getting an error saying "Server binding conflict with an
existing Web site: Microsoft CRM v3.0. Use the existing Web site instead"
Has anyone seen this error and know how to fix it?

Moving customizations from SQL 2k to SQL 2k5 CRM
This may be a non-issue but I wanted to check to see if anyone has done this
and ran into issues.
I have the XML customization files from our previous install of CRM 3.0 with
SQL 2k database. I now want to import and publish these same customizations
to CRM 3.0 on SQL 2k5.
Has anyone done this or can point me to documentation that tells about the
success or issues for doing this?

how to change regarding field from an email
Hello all..
When i send an email regarding a particular LEAD (or regarding anything
else) and then the person i sent the email to responds and talks about some
other issue say a totally different LEAD CRM already tracks this email and
puts in the regarding field the original LEAD i.e. whatever I put as
regarding from the original email. I would like to change the regarding
field as this is causing HUGE problems for me e.g.
I email an AGENT regarding a lead (10 emails back and forth are sent
regarding a single LEAD (all the regarding fields are the same as the
original email) - GREAT. But then 2 weeks later the agent (not having my
email\contact details on file) uses my last sent email and clicks reply to
me to talk about something TOTALLY different i.e. another lead or case or
opportunity but now i cannot change the regarding lead because CRM
automatically links it that that original lead.
And i cannot go around telling people to not do this, CRM should accomodate.
Hope someone has a practical solution.

Workflow to export file
Hi All
Wondering if it is at all possible to have a workflow rule to export a csv
file into a shared directory? I would like to be able to trigger this to
happen when a service activity is closed so that file can be imported into an
accounting application.

crm 3.0 exchange router pls help!!!since last year pending
i have a crm 3.0 install on sbs2003 and run perfect except to display the
e-mail queue. i did follow the instruction to setup the exchange router :
1. create crm mailbox. (CRMMail)
2. install the exchange router and point the crm mail box to CRMMail.
3. run the rule deployement wizard.
4. create a disable user account(support). check the associated external
account and CRMEmailEnabled attribute for it.
then i test send email to support. at exchange system manager i able to see
mail is deliver to support account but seem like not able to route a copy to
CRMMail because not able to see any mail sit inside the CRMMail. And there is
not bounce back message to sender mention that mail is not deliver.under the
queue is not pendig mail.

Error Going Offline - Propagating Customizations
Going Offline with CRM 3.0 Outlook Client I get error "The XML passed to the
platform is not well-formed XML."
I have recently restored the CRM server.
Can anybody refer me to a comprehensive list of what files should be
manually restored after restoring the database and reinstalling CRM and
connecting to that database?
I can't think of any customizations I have made that would upset the system.
There are some c360 modules installed, and some light customizations on the
forms.
I re-imported the Customizations.xml file no problem. I have applied Update
Rollup 1 to Server and Client.
I have tried un-installing and re-installing Outlook Client.
Still same error.
Any suggestions?

Mobile configuration in Settings
Hello. I redeployed Microsoft CRM to a new server and whenever I go into
Settings, I still have the Mobile Configuration Entity on the left-hand side
under "Settings" and "Customization".
Any thoughts on the best way to remove this permanently from the system - is

Hi all:
I have a product named A, ok? This product appears in 3 lists
Price list 1, Price 100
price list 2, price 200
Price list 3 , price 300
In this scenario, I shouldn't need to define a default price list, right?
Well, it happens that if a default price list is not defined, then the
product doesn't appear in any on the Price lists....
Any ideas?

Is there a way to change where the CRM toolbar displays when a new message is
located? I have checked for available COM Add-In Registry keys and can not
find any that would allow us to right justify the tool bar. I would really
like to move the toolbar off the left hand side of the window so that it is
not located directly under the â??Sendâ?? button in Outlook.

Workflow email off of custom entity
I am trying to create a workflow that sends email to a lead on the
creation of an attached, custom entity. My specific case is:
internet user requests information from the website. They sign up to
receive the information, and what they enter on the sign-up gets put
into a lead. They then request a specific item, and this gets placed
into a custom entity in CRM. Now, when the custom entity is created,
I want to trigger an email to be sent to the person that just
requested it, which is stored on the lead.
This would work if I could call a manual workflow as a subprocess from
a different entity type, but I can't. It would work if I could
specify something more than Owner or Owner's manager as a Logical User
on my custom entity. This would work if I could push the email into a
random field and use THAT for my To address. Needless to say, none of
these appear to be possible.
Does anyone know of a way to trick the workflow manager into allowing
this behavior? Can I change something in the DB to make it think that
my lead manual workflow (which uses a Lead email template) is actually
categorized under my custom entity so I can call it as a subprocess
from my workflow there? Or is there some other way than the 3 I
listed above to do this that I'm just not thinking of?

I'm running CRM 3.0 on SQL 2005.
I'm looking to add dynamic information to my database via an odbc. There
is an open source database that has daily updated information, we want to
feed that updated information into our system everyday at the same time,
creating new leads when they are inserted. Can someone help me with
this?

Importing Outlook Contacts into Microsoft CRM
Trying to import my contacts from Outlook into MS CRM and having issues.
When trying to import getting unicode errors. I've tried importing the
contacts in as .xls, .txt, .pst. xls and txt don't bring back errors the
information just doesn't import when I go down to the Microsoft CRM
folder>contacts, I don't see them listed there. I only get the Unicode error
when doing importing it using .PST. I'm not quite sure If I'm doing
something wrong or what. The data field mapping isn't to user friendly
either, I see the test contacts I created but again when selecting the
options I want and dragging them over to the right side for the mapping, the
info still isn't appearing in Contacts CRM. Any suggestions are greatly

Scribe insight Error 384 callout code throws exception
We have been testing the migration from Goldmine 6.5 Corporate, into CRM
3.0 using Scribe Insight. Everything is working "ok" but we are having
some minor issues.
Now we want to completely empty out the CRM databases, and test another
migration with Scribe. I am getting the Error 384 callout code throws
exception. One of my DB guys thinks it has to do with the
keycrossreference table in Scribeinternal DB. But, i uninstalled CRM,
and Scribe, deleted all databases, and we are still getting this error?
is there something in the registry that needs to be changed?

Cross Site Scripting Access is denied
Hello,
I have an external ASP .NET page embebbed in a iframe on CRM 3.0, the page
make calculations and set a value in a TextBox inside the CRM form using
JavaScript, the url of the iframe is set in the OnLoad event:

All work ok when i use localhost to set the url of the page and i execute
the page logging in my computer ( do calculations and set value), but when i
execute from another computer of the local network using the browser not find
the page because this seek in "localhost", so i replace the "localhost" for
IP or name of the machine instead "localhost", but the JavaScript to set the
value give me an error "access is denied", i think this is because explorer
recognize this like an Cross Site Scripting and the explorer restrict that,
but i don't know how to fix, any ideas ?????. i leave unchecked option to
restrict command sequences between frames.

Screen has black patches
Hello,
We are using CRM 3.0 and we have recently updated our browser to IE 7.
Since the browser update, a few of our users are noticing black patches
appearing on their browser windows - only when they are in CRM. If they press
F5, it seems to refresh some of the black area, but not all.

should be able to copy & paste up to 3 items at a time
There are situations when using MSWord/Excel and OE when one wants to copy &
paste up to 3 words/phrases, e.g. email address, subject and contents of an
email sent to different persons instead of cc/bc. If one can copy 1,2,3 and
paste 1,2,3, it would make work easier.
IF MS accepts this idea/suggestion, it may be considered for a reward to me.

Plse help....! Incoming eMails connect to the wrong opportunity
Can somebody explain the logic behind the eMail tags, and how the system
connects incoming email?
We have many incoming eMails that connect to the wrong entity.
Consider the following scenario I see happening here:
1) User1 creates new mail regarding Opportunity ABC and changes the sender
to the queue Presales and it gets tag CRM:1234
2) A reply with tag CRM:1234 arrives in the queue Presales and is
automatically connected to Opportunity ABC
So far so good....
3) User1 creates new mail regarding Opportunity XYZ and sends from her own
username and it gets tag CRM:1234 (same tag as before!)
4) A reply with tag CRM:1234 regarding Opportunity ABC arrives in the
Presales queue and gets connected to Opportunity XYZ (the wrong one!)
Is this a bug, do we have a database issue, is this by design.....? Should
we not send from a queue?
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated because this is causing (as you
can imagine) a great mess!

Windows 2003 Server/AD/SQL 2000.
We've got 10 or so clients testing heavily to see if it whats we want
from a CRM solution for our organisation.
Everything generally is running ok, despite our client PC's currently
not members of the domain (we are in a process of Novell>AD migration)
- and thus we've had to do various fiddles to get clients to talk to
the CRM server - such as caching of usernames/passwords on the
client...
We're currently experiencing this on the Distribute Campaign Activity/
mail merge screen:
"Internet Explorer Script Error" when trying to perform a mail merge
for a campaign. In Account & Contacts mail merge facilities work
fine, just when you try it from a Campaign,

button and you get:

Importing data from an excel file
I have an excel file with contact data for customers. Now I want to import it
into CRM 3.0. I use the guide but I am stuck at the manual import i.e.
populate CDF at step 5 in the data migration framework application. Do I have
to go to the SQL server and select the database and import into the contacts
table?

I am having an installation of Microsoft CRM on a single Windows 2003 server
which is also a domain controller for a small network.
I am not using any exchange server or any other e-mail server inside my
network, but i get all the e-mail from my ISP's e-mail server
My question is:
Can i track the e-mail coming to microsoft outlook to the crm server? What
changes should i make during the configuration of the crm in order to make
it work?

Exporting reports
A report I have created is quite wide, and when I print or export it,
it goes across two pages. Is there any way to set this to default to
landscape, or at least ask me what orientation I want it in? Or even

I tried to install the rollup client on my Vista Business / Office 2007 / vc3
Crm outlook client and it would not let me. Says not enough storage to
process command. I'm thinking it is a compatiblity issue.
the rest of my users use the vc3 Outlook client using Office 2003 sp2 and
Windows XP SP2.

Bulk Import Wizard: Source file is corrupt error message
When trying to upload a .CSV file, after selecting the file, choosing Leads,
and then click next, it say the Source file is corrupt. I am able to open
the file in Excel with no problem.
I got this message when I tried to import a file with 5,000 records in it.
I found that if I cut it back to 998 records, I got it to work twice. But it
has not worked since. Any suggestions would be greated appreciated.

Error when synchronizing
We wanted to test the new v 3.0 client release on a laptop which is running
Windows XP SP2 and SBS Office 2003. Everything runs fine until the user goes
offline for the first time with the new client. It states that 9000 records
need synchronizing, then never completes with the following error
'Failed move data for entity 'E-mail attachment during action saInsert,
countRows=232. Contact your system administrator for assistance.'
The server is running SBS CRM 3.
The new client is installed on another XP SP2 machine with SBS Office 2007
and no poblems when trying to synchronizing 6000 records.
Is there any tweaks necessary for installing this client on Outlook 2003?

Make CRM Faster: Slow = Practically Unusable
CRM 3.0 is great, however for practical use, it is too slow & cumbersome.
Sales staff need a very responsive solution to be able to view/switch records
during a phone conversation. Support staff need similar responsiveness. Speed
is a BIG issue with this product & almost killed it within our organisation.

how to stop the downward flow of changing owners
Hello,
Currently in CRM 3.0 if a user changes ownership on a parent account,
it filters down that ownership to all sub locations, contacts,
opportunities, etc. We do not want the owner of the opportunity to
change. Is there a way to stop that from happening in the system, so
that if the owner of the parent account change the other owners of
opportunities won't be changed to that person?

Can't Access Reports
Hi there.
I'm having problems with my CRM reports. I can access CRM using an external,
public ip address. However, i can't access any of the reports, both the
default ones and the customised ones. I get the following error:
Cannot create a connection for the data source A_B_MSCRM.
Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not assoiciated with a trusted SQL
server connection.
Please help me, i've tried just about everything.

Create task with a specific due date from workflow?
I have a user defined field on an opportunity, lets call that "Estimated
Required Date".
When the date field is entered that triggers a workflow rule that creates a
task for someone to build the estimate for the job.
How do I create that task such that the task due date is the "Estimated
Required Date"?
The workflow forms seem to only allow number of hours, days, etc. from the
time of Task creation and even that seems to require a hard-coded value.

E-Mail Router Rule Deployment Wizard and Deactived Users?
I am attempting to use the E-Mail Router Rule Deployment Wizard to
update my users e-mail rules so that emails will be automatically
tracked when a customer replies to the user sending it (and they don't
need to click the Track in CRM button in their outlook client each
time), but I have three deactivated users that are no longer in our
Active Directory. Each time I run the Wizard, it says it is unable to
(obviously) resolve these users.
Is the Wizard working on the other inboxes? Is there any way to
check? Any way to delete these users totally from the system since

Remote access user should allow you to assign leads, accounts and.
CRM should provide the capability to assign records to non CRM users. IE -
the company may have manufatcuring rep companies that resell their product
but these companies and their sales reps would never work in CRM. They need
the ability to assign teh records to them to manage and track sales and
comissions.

Custom Private Views
I have created a bunch of new Views within Leads, Accounts and Contacts. I
shared them with just one team (Vice Presidents). The views do have
"Private" next to them. However, all users can see these views in the list
of views. They do not see the records within the views, but they are all
still in the dropdown. How can I hide these views from the users' Views
Dropdown lists?

Need help
I have sharepoint setup and have added an iframe etc to view.
What i would like to do is when a user opens up an account and goes to the
ifram it takes them directly into the client file instead of having to go
through a list to get to it?
I was thinking of using the account ref number as it would be the same as
the folder name to do this
