Extending CRM access to another Domain
We have a request from our parent company overseas in that they want to
connect to our instance of MSCRM. In no way is our AD environment or WAN
connected to them. My first thought was to simply create AD accounts for
those users, and give them VPN access into our network. Then allow them to
hit the CRM web site, but then the question of CRM email comes around.
Since we have two different domain names, it would mean that the overseas
folks would have two email accounts to manage.
My question here would be what are my options to make this happen? Any
thoughts are greatly appreciated!

I need to make customizations for two differnt companies (one is a subsidary,
other is parent). I created a business unit in CRM for each comapny. How do
I customizations for one company and different ones for the other company?

Great Plains Crystal Reports vs. CRM Crystal Reports
I am very dissappointed in the way things have worked out with Crystal. We
have the Crystal reports that comes with Great Plains, and have been using
the Crystal Enterprise features. When we purchased CRM, we were told to
install version 9.2.2. We now no longer have the ability to use Crystal
Enterprise for reporting from Great Plains.
I spoke with Crystal support and they have said that 9.2.2 should not even
be considered an upgrade from the Great Plains version of Crystal because
that is also a custom version.
I have seen the other threads regarding the limitations of 9.2.2. Is there
any workaround to allow us to report from CRM and Great Plains using the
products we've already purchased? I'm guessing we have to either install 2

Authentication of new user
I have a problem with a user trying to authenticate to CRM via
http://servername. She enters the domain/Username and then password, it
starts to load CRM and then presents a http error and presents the logon box
again. She uses a license for the shipping department and the other users
have no problem performing the same function. The only difference is that
she is a new user after an upgrade to Windows 2003. I have tried to change
the system with a clean HDD and the same result. I have tried changing the
IE options with no success. Any ideas. Has something changed in security

Contract State
When I create a contract whit time unit when I create the invoice the state
become active but in two occasions the state became to "turnover/invoice
maked" and I can't use this contract assigning it any case no more.

Cannot access CRM from Windows 2003+SP1
I just upgrade my workstation from windows2000 to windows2003+SP1, when I
tried to access CRM, it asked for my username and password, once I input and
click ok, the IE seems loading something then closed without any error report.
I tried to access CRM from other windows 2003 server without SP1, no problem.
Is there anything that I can do to solve it? or need to config my IE setting?

SFO outlook installation issues
I have installed 1.2 SFO on several machines without issue that are running
XP with Office 2000. I am unable to install on my machine though. I am
running XP and Office 2003. It takes forever to start the initial
installation, and then I selected the listed components to install, after
about 15 minutes the PC stops responding. When I exit out, it causes all
kinds of problems with other applications, even after re-booting. I thought
that it could be a corrupted disk, so I had my software vendor send me a new
disk. Same thing.

CRM Error message
I have one user that always seems to incur issues with viewing certain quotes
or opportunities, and sometimes workplace activities. He is the only one in
our company that uses CRM that has this problem. For example, when he tries
to "open in new window" an attachment to a note...he receives the following
error message:
'C:\Documents and Settings\userid.domain\Local Settins\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5\K9EVODE3\filename.xls' could not be found. Check the
spelling of the filename and and that the file location is correct. If you
are trying to ope the file from your list of most recently used files on the
File menu, make sure that it has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.
I have opened his security role to give him administrator permissions, and
he still has issues. I checked his internet options, and the server is
listed as a trusted site. I think it has something to do with his internet
permissions.

Adding a lookup field to the incident form
Hi,
When selecting for an account in the incident form - I would like to have
the option to search the accounts by the account name (existing) and also by
the account number.
1) How can I add this option to the account's lookup form (that is opened
from the incident form) ?
2) As an alternative - how can I add the account number to the incident form
(as a new foreign field from the account in the incident's form) ?

CRM crashes IE
I have a problem where one user, the guy who uses it the most, 80% more than
any other users, will crash for no apparent reason when working in CRM.
When I say crash I mean that IE locked and had to close taking all open CRM
windows with it. The most recent occurence was during a print job and he was
only changing the number of pages to print. This occured on his old machine
running windows 2000 and just occured on a new machine running windows xp
with all service packs.
Anyone have any insight into this? Any suggestions on what to look for?
Our CRM server is hosted remotely along with our Exchange and Great Plains
to which CRM is connected via Biztalk.

Can anyone tell me, if its posible to limit the offline synkrinisation to
acount, contacts etc that have the local user as owner.
We have over 7.000 contact in the system, and that is a bit more than we
want to sync to the Outlook contact folder.

I gave them the rights to do so in the policies (create, read and write
custom views for the organisation) but they don't have access to this part
in the Settings...

Tracking email turn around time
A client of ours wants to report on the turn around time on emails -
from the time the email arrived to the time a staff member replied to
it. How could you do this? We thought about reporting on the create
date and time of the two emails but there does not seem to be any
association linking the GUID of the inbound email with the GUID of
reply.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Out of curiosity, would the service module be able to do this through
cases?

Apply Rule -- Workflow Process list has missing items
Hi,
I was working at applying rules manually. I used to have 3 rules to choose
from. Then I had 2, then 1, and now 2 again. The 3 rules exist and have
been activated the entire time.
The only thing I may have done is refresh (F5) the form while the rule was
running. Now it is does not have the entire list of 3 rules to choose from
on this item (Order). On all other orders, the list contains 3, but only 2
for this one.
Anyone have ANY insight on this behaviour??
I have seen this behaviour once before. I ended up recreating the item (it
was a Case, but this time it is an Order).
I just discovered, if I delete all the active processes for the order in
Workflow manager, all 3 rules once again appear. This is definitely strange
behaviour.
FYI: The rule that was missing, calls itself recursively after a wait
period. This is not the case when I saw this behaviour on a CRM Case however.

Mail Merge Question
We would like to perform a mail merge on contacts associated within accounts
given certain geographical information. The problem we have is many of our
contacts do not have address information within the contact, it only exists
within the associated account. We are using the c360 query tool which
allows us to find the contacts, but the address information appears to be
unavailable to the mail merge since in only exists on the account. Is there
a good way to access the account address information while working with the
contact in a mail merge?

Searching Leads by company name..
I have been assigned as part of my daily job duties to start getting some of
MS CRM issues addressed. Most of the issues are small, but lead to a company
wide feeling that the tool is not yet living up to its full potential.
I have two questions at this point:
Is there any way to change the default search criteria for when searhing
through "leads" to allow for a user to search the company name? The default
settings only allow a person to search for a persons name.
Is there any way to transfer the notes from a lead into an account record
when it is converted? As it stands we have to drill down from the new account
record into the original lead record and then review the notes from there.
This makes it hard to make sure we are not missing information without having
to open up every new account record and checking the original lead for notes.

Fixing user with wrong Domain Logon Name
This is both a comment and question. When adding a new user I forgot to
preface his Domain Logon Name with the domain. Instead of typing
domain\username I simply typed username. There was warning message that was
generated but then the user got created. I opened the newly created user in
an attempt to fix my mistake but the Domain Logon Name field was greyed out.
I "fixed" the problem by modifying the users' record in the SystemUserBase
table in the CompanyName_MSCRM database. So far everything seems to be
working but if any of you see a problem with how I fixed this issue, please
let me know ASAP before I run into bigger problems.

deployment manager and i added them to the account form. No problem with
this. But when i launched the Deployment Manager for publishing it failed

Exchange Problems
I have a fresh install of CRM 1.2 with all users using the Sales Standard
Client (SFO or Outlook).
Whenever I send an Email out of CRM it tags it in the subject line and any
replies to this message work just fine (making me think the Exchange tie-in
is working). However, I have set up a Queue user and any messages sent to
that user never make it into the Queue. I have verified that they have been
received becaue they are in that user's inbox.
Any ideas why I can't see these messages in the Queue? I followed the
implementation guide to the letter.

CRM User A contacts customer and want to schedule an appointment for CRM
User B to meet with them - how can they do it? Anytime you make an

be best for our sales people. Went through the steps to re-implement this

Hi folks,
we're developing web service, that connects to Microsoft CRM using
Microsoft.Crm library. The problem, we are dealing with, is that we want to
connect as a certain user - which is not the same user, under whose account
the web service runs (so the classical aproach using bizUser.WhoAmI() is

Now we are moving Over to CompB's Domain.
And CompB wants to roll out Ms CRM trough the entire Holdings group

I want to create and add new reports to MS CRM but I've a problem with
setting up Crystal Reports Enhanced Edition for MS CRM. I've tried to instal
Crystal Reports Enhanced Edition for MS CRM on MS CRM SERVER and when I do
it I have had a message that "setuo has detected taht you have rystal Reports
9.2.0 installed.YOu must first upgrade to Crystal Reports 9.2.2 to continue".
I tried to upgrade Crystal Reports but the last version of Crystal I found
is 9.2.0.4
And - when I should install Crystal Reports Enhanced Edition on Server or

Migrating activities to Existing Accounts
Hi Could someone verify the possibility of using the CDF to import data as
Activities and relating them to Accounts?.. From a post someone mentioned it
wasnt possible.. although when I logged a similar scenario (Contact import
instead of activities).. Support mentioned that I just need to populate the
cdf tables of account specifically destinationID with the GUID of the
existing record and MSCRM. The activities would then be migrated normally
while the Accounts wont..

Hi folks - wonder if someone could point me to some deffinitive information
on this please?
In the taining material for MS CRM 1.2 it states that if you install MS CRM
on Windows 2000 then you need to intsall the Exchange Router on Exchange 2000
and if CRM is on W2K3 then the router needs to go on Ex2K3 too.
Seems a little out of step and oddball to me. Anyone got any clue on
whether this is true or not and why this is?

I have an excel spreadsheet with contacts in it and I need to import the
contacts into Microsoft CRM. I stepped through the process of importing the
Contacts via the built in MS CRM tool (tools - import - contacts), but I
didn't see an option to import Contacts and associate them to an Account. Can
anyone explain if this is possible?
All of the Contacts in the spreadsheet will be associated to the same

Viewing Users in List View
When assigning tasks, my manager wishes to be able to see completed and
assigned tasks by user.
For instance, if he is in Workplace, he would like to be able to sort active
and closed activities by User name, either from the view dropdown or maybe by
creating a sortable user header.
Any suggestions on how we might go about this-I would think there must be a
simple way to do it.

Hyperlink in Crystal Reports opens a new browser window
Hi There! I have created some reports in Crystal Reports 9 for a company
running CRM 1.2. Within the reports I can add a hyperlink by selecting
â??format fieldâ?? â?? choosing the â??hyperlinkâ?? tab â?? clicking the formula button
(x-2) and then inserting the hyperlink in the formula pane. An example is
â??http://crm/sfa/leads/edit.aspx?id=â??&{lead.leadid} this will open a lead that
is listed in the report.
My problem is it opens the lead in the crystal report viewer window. I
would like it to open in a new window. I have done some research and found
some javascript help, but no examples that I can get to function correctly.

Snapshot Agent Fails To Start
Hi All,
I'm so close to getting my SFO problems sorted but I've still got one
problem. The initial snapshot is failing to work, this is only with one
of the initial scheduled jobs though.

Easy way to validate isv.config syntax
If anybody else out there is new to the XML and web environments, I
just wanted to pass along this hint. When you're customizing
isv.config, it is fairly easy to introduce XML syntax errors that will
stop the isv.config file from loading. Rather than find out after
doing an iisreset and loading CRM, there is a much easier way to check
syntax.
After making your edits, copy the file to a file with an .xml extension
(such as Copy of isv.config.xml). Ignore the warning about changing
the file extension. Then double-click the file. If it is correct XML
syntax, the XML tree will load in IE. If it doesn't have the correct
syntax, you'll get a very helpful message indicating where the problem
lies...
(Now you all know that I'm a SQL guru, and NOT a .Net guru ;-)

Replied CRM emails not appearing in CRM
When I send an email through CRM and a Lead replies the email doesn't appear
as an activity in the Leads history. I am using CRM Sales for Outlook. Is
this a syncronization issue? Or can CRM relate to the replies?

Web Server not displayed when publishing
I have an issue in Deployment Manager when trying to publish new fields. The
Web Server is not listed when publishing, so I am unable to publish. The
list appears as blank. Everything else in CRM appears to work normally.
Any suggestions?

When we save email messages (as a draft) the text dissappears, even when th I
use my administrator account. Anybody have any idea what that is happening.
