while giving criteria for Advanced find, if i select more than 13 number of
users in the 'Value' field, i get an error as 'Error On Page'. for 13 and
lesser number of values in the Value field, it is working fine.

Import Customizations
Ok, here goes. I've tried a few times to import customizations. For some
reason the status bar gets to about 1/2 in IE, then stops. However, after
some additional testing I'm getting the imports in and I can publish to get
the changes but the import successful - OK button never comes up. I
eventually close the import OK box and all is in. Anyone else seen this

Two Questions
1. Can the Microsoft CRM client for the web be setup to be used by users
who are working from their home office if they are not logged onto a VPN -
simply over the web? I am essentially asking if a web client can be used to
access CRM outside of remote services or remote connection to where the
servers are hosted. (Very much like users can access salesforce.com from any
web browser).
2. Is it possible to use a Microsoft Web Client over securely over SSL?

Searching closed entities in CRM
I want to use the simple "Look For" search in the VIEWS of an entity. The
problem is that it will only search Active records, not closed/inactive. An
example would be searching for a company in the Opportunities view. I want
to find how many opportunites they have, open and closed. It will only find
the open ones. Is there a way to change that search to work for both?

Merge Error in Contacts
We converted an Act Database putting most of the records into Leads and only
qualified records into Contacts.
I've been in the process of identifying and merging duplicates.
My latest test stripped all EMail addresses out of Leads and Contacts,
sorting them and identifying duplicates.
I can merge a Lead with a Lead
I can merge a Contact with a Contact.
Here's my problem:
If I convert a Lead to a Contact and then try to Merge the two records I

Pick fields in dynamic export
This may be a simple question to the gurus, but here it is.
I am running an advanced find against my activities, but want to include
account information when I export to Excel.
Based on what I've heard and read, it seems to me that, if I export to a
dynamic pivot table, I get the opportunitiy to pick additional columns that
are not available when exporting to static worksheets. The only place that
I've seen where I can pick additional columns, is in the "edit columns"
button within the actual advanced find. However, this does not give me the
fields I want. Where else can I get to these additional fields? Thanks for

Help - Updated CRM 3.0 refuses to install on SBS R2
CRM 3.0 refuses to install on my SBS 2003 R2 premium server.
I was encountering the known issues with CRM 3 on SBS R2 using the CDs that
came in the Action Pack subscription so I downloaded the updated CRM CDs from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7d418781-69ad-422d-92fa-87fdb2538e2c&DisplayLang=en
This copy gave me a different set of problems.
The default setup mode pops up a couple errors. The first one is the lack
of full text search so I installed that and ran the setup again. The next
error was:
"The edition 'Workgroup Edition' of the specified SQL Server is not
supported by this SQL Server Reporting Services installation. Supported
editions are Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition."
I installed reporting services for SQL 2k5 express, installed SQL 2k5 SP1,
and then configured reporting services. (had to change the reportserver
virtual directory to a new app pool though)
Now both standard and custom installation modes give me this error:
Failed to locate the Web Application configuration file. Verify the file
specified in registry value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft
SQL Server\80\Reporting Services[WAConfigFilePath]
This key is not in my registry. I suspect it may be because Iâ??m using SQL
express rather than full SQL.
This SBS r2 premium server is fully updated with latest windows updates,
service packs and such.
How exactly do I install CRM 3.0 (original, or updated CD) on SBS R2 premium?

the MS site but they didnâ??t help.

access the site, I see all the buttons (Workplace, Sales, etc) except the
Settings button. If I reboot, the button is back. My security role is system

I can access CRM through the internet. I can open the main screen and change
screens from account to contact to task, etc.
But on one laptop(mine of course) when I try to open an "Account" or
"Contact", a window will appear but never populates with anything but a
pretty blue(no detail). Lets throw in a little more just for fun, I can
open a "Task" and even my custom entity.

CRM Client for Outlook toolbar doesn't work
Have CRM Outlook client, and worked well when I was in the office yesterday.
Went "offline" and all seems fine.
However, today I find that the CRM menu, and CRM toolbar do not work. I can
see them, but the buttons do nothing.
I am running on Vista, and have the latest CRM upgrade.

CRM, reports, and IE7
I'm having a specific issue with Internet Explorer 7 and MSCRM 3.0.
For the most part, CRM works fine. However, when anyone tries to run
a SQL2000 Reporting Services report from within CRM (either the
Outlook or web client), it gives one of those nifty full-page errors.
If I go straight to the report server, through IE7, I can run the
report just fine.
Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone know how to fix it? Any

Replies do not route back into CRM
Hi, friends.
I have a problem with our CRM router which I can't work out for several days.
Replies on outgoung e-mails, which were sent from CRM and which had
tracking tokens their subjects, do not appear inside CRM application as
closed e-mail activities.
The router service runs under domain user account having System
Administartor security role in CRM and Local Admin rights on the exchnage
sever (2003). This account as well as Exchange server computer account is a
member of PrivUserGroup.
There are no errors in any of event logs.
I have attached an e-mail box of router user (created during router
installation) to my Microsoft Outlook and visually have seen that each reply
comes to this e-mail box into "inbox" folder. After 30-60 sec each reply
message which has tracking token moves to "Undeliberable" subfolder of
"indox" folder. And each message which has no tracking token simply
disappears.
I've enabled tracing on the server and catched one error from the tracing
files, but I can't understand what it means (see below).
I've already tried to re-install the router. I does not help.
What can I do else... Have no idea.

Can a CRM user create tasks in CRM for someone else and have it synchronize

I've checked the services on both servers, and all seem to be running fine,
there are no other errors, sites are running, everything looks normal.
As far as i'm aware nothing has changed on either server, however the other
systems engineer said he'd updated .net on the sharepoint/crm server last
week, but it'd been working okay since then.

When I install the Microsoft Outlook Client and I start MS Outllook, I get
the following message:
"The Microsoft CRM Outlook client needs to be upgraded before it can
continue to be used. Microsoft CRM will be disabled this clinet. Contact
your
system administrator for upgrade instructions."
Please help me, because when I Google this message I can't find the
solution.

There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft CRM Server
Hello ALL,
I have a problem with my CRM Client for Outlook.
The CRM Server 3.0 is on a Windows 2003.
Wenn I add in IIS 6.0 the server name (FQDN and NETBIOS NAME) as a multiple
identities and remove the default web site i can access to server with the
CRM Outlook client but I cannot access anymore with the CRM Web Client. And
wenn I remove the server name (FQDN and NETBIOS NAME) and put back the
default web site the Web client is working but not the CRM client for
Outlook.
Error in CRM client for outlook:
The microsoft CRM Server is unavailable.
There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft CRM Server. The server
might be unavailable. Try again later. if the problem persists, contact your
system administrator
My environment:
Windows XP SP2
Office 2003 Pro SP2

I see there is a "description" attribute in "business unit" entity. but we

Newbie Dumb Question re Quotes/invoices
Hi, i am very new to CRM, and I have it running and working on my network.
Anyway, my question is in relation to using it. I have successfully setup my
products, price list, contacts, accounts, etc.
I then proceeded to run through a test process from start to finish. I
created my lead, then made it an opertunity, then i created a quote, added my
products, etc.
Now heres the part where i'm confused. Once i have created and made avtive
my quote, i want to print a copy off to give to my customer. When i try to
print the quote, i get a basic dump of the info on my screen, no nice
presentable quotation.
So my question is how do i go about doing this?
It is probaly a really dumb question, but i am a systems admin, not a
customer relations manager, or sales person, i just need to get it all

CRM Deployment in an organisation with 2 physical sites
Hi,
Is it possible to have 2 crm servers installed for an organisation with one
domain, that has 2 physical locations?
At the moment we have a crm server, and a sql server located in one site,
but were looking at setting up another crm server at the second site to speed
up the loading process. Both crm servers will be connecting to the same sql
server database.
Is this possible?

Move Account activity to contact
Hello,
We just did an ACT to CRM 1.2 migration and we want to do some
customizing on the data. In CRM 1.2, does anyone know how to assign
the account activities, history, notes to the primary contact of the
account. We are basically going to have only contacts in CRM and
delete all the accounts, but the activities are linked to the account,
not the contacts.

I am trying to create groups for contacts in CRM 1.2. I am assuming
that I must use the territorycode(int) field, but am not really
certain how to do this. I know there is way to group accounts with
the sales territory option, but we really need to group the contacts.

Loading lookup field text into another form field
I am using an 'onchange' event against a lookup field to populate another
form field using
crmForm.all.nswit_schoolname.DataValue =

but cannot seem to make it work. Tried it on a form save event as well.
Simple but ??? The reason for this is that I am attempting to update an
attribute in a parent entity with the latest value in a linked entity using

What "views"
I've create some reports for our various needs, and have been fairly
successfull doing so (e.g. writing the query, joining needed views, getting
the rdl up and going, etc.) I'm attempting to create a stored precudure
(first just a T-SQL query) that I will use to create a customer quote. I'm
unsure what joined views to use when I'm initially pulling data from the
"FilteredQuote" view. Some are obvious like "filteredquotedetail" but when
it comes to upstream data such as the Account ID, I'm not sure what views to
join. Does anyone have a process they use for deciphering what tables/views
should be joined to the main "view" they are using to query data?

New Territory Strategy
Our Sales executive had a bright idea last week to revamp all of the
territories in the Sales Department without talking to anybody about it
outside of Sales.
We are a volume based business so for under 20,000 volume, we have reps for
three areas of the U.S. Over 20,000 we have reps for eight areas of the U.S.
What is the best way to map that out in CRM?

A SQL Server error occurred.
Beginning yesterday we are getting the following error when trying to make
any update or change in our Microsoft Dynamics CRM. "A SQL Server error
occurred. For more information contact your system administrator."
The error began when I tried to update my user profile and has grown
exponentially to the point where we can only view current information - we
can not make any changes.
As far as I know there were no changes made to the SQL Server in the past
two weeks. I don't know what version of the SQL Server we're running - I'll
post that as soon as I can get the information.

BCM 2007 data to CRM 3.0
I am trying to migrate data from Business Contact Manager 2007 to CRM 3.0.
Once i select the database that is the BCM data it gives me a warning that
the database is not upgraded to Business Contact Manager v2.0. I imagine
that is because it does not support BCM 2007 yet.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to get this data from the BCM to CRM?

Cancelling expired contracts
There appears to be no way of distinguishing contracts with have expired and
we know that they will not be renewed and contracts which have expired but we
may still be belatedly planning to renew.
Is there anyway to change the status of an expired contract to cancelled?
Is the only option to delete the contract? We don't like this as we lose the
history.
Are there any other fields we can update (by workflow perhaps) in an expired
contract so that we can distinguish between these two states?

My CRM menu item in the Outlook add-in has disappeared
Very annoying. I can't find the Menu item for CRM from the Menu bar in
Outlook. I've looked everywhere, especially in "customize toolbars". The
Outlook add-in is still working, and the CRM toolbar is there, but without
the menu item I can't do things like synchronise and set local data.
I don't really want to re-install the add-in as I'm afraid it will mean I
have to reset all the synchronisation items, which would be a big pain...
