Hello,
I have a couple of rules that I am running in CRM 3.0 that create activities
based on change events. For instance, one rule creates a letter activity when
the status of an opportunity changes to from open to won. These rules seem to
run perfectly until I disable them and then re enable them later on. They
haven't been edited in any way, we just wanted to stop the rules from running
for a bried period. When I re enabled them, they either run properly on some
events or they don't run at all.
My question is, would stopping and starting a rule cause problems like this?
I have tried different variations on the rules to see if it was maybe the
way I had the rule built, but it seems to happen on all of them.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason,

Thanks for posting in. This is Ken in Online Partner Support.

It's my first time to hear such a story. For my understanding, there
shouldn't be different before/after enable/disable the rule in the
workflow. Do you have any error message in the event viewer?

Ken

Hi Ken,
Nothing shows up in the event logs. I can't be certain that
stopping/starting the rules is whats causing the problem but it seems to be
coinciding with stopping/starting. I had read somewhere that making mulitple
edits and saving repeatedely (as in edit, save, edit, save and so on) could
cause the rule not to run properly, and I thought this may be the case here
too.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the update.

If there is no log in the eventview, then how about Workflow monitor? Do
you have any clue in the workflow monitor? If not, we need to obtain CRM
trace as next step but then you need to open a case for this.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the update.

I am glad to hear that the workflow now working properly. I never heard
that disable/enable breaks the workflow but as long as you have the
symptom, it might do. I will close this post today. Thanks for using the
newsgroup!
