    - Lead - Account - Message: Unexpected behaviour Hi All, i have this problem: We have a Windows Service that create a leads based on a particular action from our web site. This lead contains only the mail address of the possible customer. Subsequently, we create a new contact or account, with a same mail address of that lead, but without linking them together. When this customer write a message to a queue, his address is marked as unknown, even if I close o disqualifies the lead. Only if I cancel the lead, the CRM recognize the correct message sender as contact/account. This is unexpected behaviour, Does anyone know how to avoid this ?     - Timezonecode for site Hello I am performing a data migration and am importing sites. In Ms Crm 3.0 there is the possibility to have a timezone for a site. What I could no figure out is, where are the timezones from which are being shown on the site (edit, create, etc.) form? I could not find them in the database. Has anyone got a good idea?     - Tracking unsolicited emails I'm having problems tracking ALL incoming emails in our crm application. I've installed the email router on the exchange server and the service is running. I've also deployed the rules to all the users (with Success); however I don't see a setting in the router installation or the user settings to either track or ignore unsolicited emails. All of our mail is coming into the users mailbox and requires a manual push on the "track in crm" button. I'd like this to be automatic because I know the users will 'forget' to do it and I believe this is the exact reason for the router....     - The Access level for the Create Privilege Ok, My company is going to be integrating to MS CRM, and I have a Create Privilege question. In a sample database, I noticed a lot of the roles had a User Access Level on the Create Privilege for a bunch of entities. The question is, the User access level is defined that the user must be in the same business Unit or the record must be shared. Wouldn't that mean the same thing as the Business Unit Access Level? And if you were trying to block creation of records of that entity to a role, wouldn't you set the Access level to none?     - My recieved mails are not showing in the My Recieved E-mails View In CRM 3.0 whenever any emails are being sent they show in the All E-mails view under activites. However if the user selects My Recieved E-mails view they are not shown. Also they are not shown under My activitities view. I suspect this has something to do with the emails being marked as closed.     - Import / Export Customization Issue I create many customizations, including new objects, new attributes, changned views, changed ass. views, etc. When I export and import into another CRM enviroment, all changes happen except the form and associated view changes. For example if I change the form (details tab) to have 3 fields only, after the export / import the details tab is back to the default install? Any way to tell what is happening?     - Account/Contact Relationships Currently I have no operational problems, just an organizational one, I have 2 archaic dos-based databases (DBF) one containing contact info and one containing account info. The contacts database is in and working fine, however I run into problems importing account files that have the primary contact already existing in the CRM database. is there a way to import an account that has a contact already existing in that database? if not I realize I will basically have to most likely re-do the database. If I have to do that, first off is there a "format the database" feature or a "bulk delete" for contacts and accounts? if not is it just basically a fresh install or what? and then what should be the proper import procedure on a fresh database, accounts then contacts?     - Field websiteurl not a hyperlink in Contacts I added "websiteurl" to my contacts form, but it appears to not be a hyperlink. If I add a record, the field does not product a clickable link to open the website. Any ideas of how to fix this? I'm assuming this is an oversight on Microsoft's side that should be fixed.     - Emails randomly being tracked Hi All, We are experiencing a very frustrating problem with our CRM 3 installation. We have the CRM for Outlook client (v3) installed on all of the pc's used by our CRM users. All users are set to track email one way (the setting to make only one task for mail between users). We are tracking only CRM token emails by default. We have the outlook rule freshly deployed to all users after checking the correct operation and config of the client. However, every so often (about one in every few hundred emails) an email will be automatically tracked in crm for absolutely no apparent reason. These are not emails with a tracking token, the only way they could have got there (so I thought) is by the user pressing the 'track in crm' button in outlook. Until it happened to an email sent to myself. By the time the mail was in my inbox, the icon was a CRM icon. I checked all emails in the system in advanced find, and I was the owner, with the status reason set to 'received'. As I say, the icon next to the message in Outlook was already the CRM one when I switched to look at Outlook. Are there any rules that are applied to messages which are not obvious to the user/admin, and happen 'behind the scenes'? Many of the messages which are finding their way in are sent to many CRM users, so is there some rule running which decides that therefore this must be relevant to CRM?     - Dash (-) characters keep reappearing in record fields. Hi, Strange one this. We have a MSCRM 3.0 install which seems to have the following problem. I open a record (contact), remove the dash (-) character from the phone number field, save and close the record and all seems fine. I open the record back up and the dash character has sucessfully been removed. However, if I come back to the same contact record about 5 to 10 minutes later, the dash has reappeared in the telephone number field!!! There are no workflows running, nor is any one going into the record and updating manually. It only seems to be dashes as we've changed other fields and it seems fine with them.     - CRM V3 Registration Questions We are preparing to upgrade to CRM V3. I have set up a test environment with V3 to make sure all our customtizations work and to get used to the changes before rolling it out to the masses. I see that V3 has to be registered within 30 days of install. If i register the software on my test environment, will that prevent me from installing/registering on my production environment?     - CRM integration to legacy systems via BizTalk Hi There We have a number of systems containing different information about customers that we would like integrate with CRM via BizTalk. Basically, CRM will be the basis of our contact centre, where all customer enquiries will be dealt with through CRM and the various legacy systems updated accordingly.     - workflow automatic rule Hi / Bonjour, i have a problem with the launch of my automatic rules, created with the administrator system ("restricted access" is checked...) Exemple : - creation of the rules with the administrator account (those of the installation of crm) - with another account/user, on another PC : launch of the rule, manually : OK - with another account/user, on another PC : launch of the rule, automaticaly : NOT OK for information, when i uncheck "restricted access", all is OK....it is a question of rights but...     - Outlook Client installation should not unlink the PST folder It is a suggestion to the product MSCRM 3.0. We implemented the MSCRM 3.0 for our customer and it is at the final phase of the project. Unfortunitely, our customer has recently found out that the installation of CRM Client for Outlook, both Desktop and Laptop Clients, causes the originally linked PST files of the Outlook be unlinked. Our customer contacted the MBS Supports through the CustomerSource program and got a prompt feedback. The Supports conducted tests and confirmed the existence of this bug. However, the only solution they provided is a workaround to add the PST files back manually. Can there be any hotfix or wizard to tackle this problem? Our customer and we also think that it is difficult to make use of the suggested workaround method on thousands of the remote machines in the various locations in the world, or wait for the release of the next CRM version in 2007.     - Contract Does not expire automatically Hi I use crm 3.0 and from 22/06/2006 contracts do not expire automatically when the expireson date passes. For example i have a contract which expires on 23/06/2006 and it is still active. All contracts from 22/06/2006 does not change status automatically when expires on date pass.     - Scheduling activities - promoting error All of our users are receiving an error when scheduling an activity in either CRM Client for Outlook or the web-based application. ALL users are assigned to the System Administrator role. Error in CRM Client: "An error occured promoting this item to Microsoft CRM. The Microsoft CRM server could not be contacted or the user has insufficient permissions to perform this action. This item has been saved to Microsoft Outlook but is not being tracked in Microsoft CRM" Error in Web-based application: "An error has occured. For more information, contact your system administrator." A second window then appears: "General failure in scheduling engine". I've done a repair installation on the CRM server without resolve.     - Co-Existance with Project on Same Server? Hello, We're a small company who is an MS partner and are looking to deploy CRM for our sales staff. While we are aware that you cannot have CRM and Exchange on the same server, we would like to consolidate some of our internal services to a singlular server. I am curious if Project Server and CRM can co-exist peacefully on the same server or not?     - Cannot import customisations - various errors Well, I have created solution for a client which is currently running at 44 custom entities, including lots of changes to views and forms, and lots of jscript to consistently fill the names of "join" tables based on selected lookup fields. I have exported all customisations but just cannot import them again, no matter what I try. I developed them on the May virtual pc, exported them, then started a fresh VPC (tried both may & feb) and attempted to import them. I have had the SQL timeout error, so I added the oledbtimeout=0x240 to the registry (Jo Savidge - March31), and tried again and it still times out. I have restarted the server after applying this, but I don't think it ever uses this new value. Maybe I've mis-spelt it? Then I have attempted to import them one at a time, starting on the entities with no dependancies but I can either still get a timeout, or get the enitities imported with the FK attributes imported but no relationships. Or I will sometimes get the error "A record with these values already exists. A duplicate record cannot be created. Select one or more unique values and try again." However as I'm only importing the entities' "metadata" rather than any records themselves, this error message leaves me a tad bemused and none the wiser. I would like to break up the import into pieces in order to understand where it's done something wrong, but this is hard because it seems that without all the related tables together, things like relationships can't be created. Is the import process thoroughly documented somewhere that I could read and maybe devise a more robust import scheme - maybe utilising the webservice methods to automate this process? I have put a huge effort into these customisations, their views, forms, relationships, jscipt, and sitemap. And phase 2 of the project was to add a similar number of entites bringing the total number close to 100. However without being able to rely on Customization Import to quickly apply these from development to test to production environments, this project is quickly looking vulnerable, and I will be left iwth much egg on my face.     - Add new field that is User Lookup I have had many clients that need to attach multiple users to a single account. What I mean is there is an Owner for every account . That can be used as the "Account Manager" But what if you also need to track a loan processor to the account... Not possible. Suggestion: Allow a new filed type that is simply the CRM user list.     - Offline Sync at Intervals I have many clients the have sales guys that are on the road constantly. They want to remain "Offline" with their Outlook most of the time. They constantly forget to press the "go online" to send data up to server. I would suggest having an option to send changes up to server (with out going back online) at specific intervals (30 min or 2 hours...). These guys are good sales folks but not aware of technology. Having to Go Online, then immediately Go Offline does not make since to them...     - Auto Email connect to contact When pressing the "Track in CRM" button from Outlook and no "Regarding" entity is selected then email should be automatically attached to the contact that has that email address. Hi,

I have one CRM server running in my domian i added another server to
the domian for CRM disaster recovery i want to make sure that in case
of a disaster we will have the second server up and running with the
least time and effort. I am thinking of using logshipping for the
database is that a good idea? what other things can i prepare ?
